Nowhere Near Perfect

Jimmy and Lydia (Taylor, Ralph) are a happily married African-American couple living in their Philadelphia home. Jimmy is the head bartender for the bar/lounge in the Madison Ritz hotel (a fancy, classy Philly hotel). Lydia works as a travel agent at her mom's very own travel agency. Lydia and Jimmy's three growing teenage children include: 18-year-old high school senior Marshall (Brown), 17-year-old high school junior Tavia (Samuels), and 14-year-old eighth grader Ben (Massey). Marshall is a semi-smooth-talking ladies man (or so he thinks), who is unsure of what his future holds for him. Tavia is self-confident, co-captain of cheerleading squad who is very much of an overachiever and is lacking common sense some of the times. Ben is a young teen who is going through puberty and starting to notice girls-and WOMEN-in a whole new light, and heavily looks up to his older brother Marshall. One of Jimmy's biggest pet peeves is how Marshall walks, talks, and dresses like a "gangsta". Lydia's family-oriented mother, Marianne (Peyton-France) works with her only daughter and loves every minute of it. She and Lydia are very close, as are Lydia and Tavia. Marianne's sons/Lydia's brothers: Curtis and Mitchell (Wayans, Wayans) live together in their very own apartment across town from the Griffins. Curtis and Mitchell are extremely close brothers, who are more like best friends to each other than brothers. They work as bartenders at Jimmy's bar/lounge at Madison Ritz hotel. Marshall idolizes his ladies-man uncles--much to Lydia and Marianne's dismays. Marianne has been married twice (widowed both times). Marianne and her first hubby are parents of Lydia, then Marianne and her second hubby are parents of Curtis and Mitchell. Marianne's second hubby adopted Lydia since her birthfather had died years before. Even though, it may seem that the Johnson-Griffin family is real close and seems perfect (like the Cleavers or Bradys)...yet they truly are NOWHERE NEAR PERFECT.
