I have read article's about very successful shows and shows that failed on N@N and these are what i have heard...

Successful
Roseanne
Full House
The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air
The Cosby Show
Cheers
Three's Company
The Facts Of Life (in the beginning)
The Brady Bunch

Failed
Murphy Brown
Wings
Who's the Boss?
Coach
The Facts Of Life (towards the end)

You can add your own if you want...

...So Now how do you think future shows will fair and why?

Mad About You (March 2006) - I think during it's premier marathon it will do good but it has never done very good in sydnication, It could possibly become a hit but i dought it...

Home Improvement (2007) - I think it will do good for along time, Roseanne, FH, TFPOBA, and TCS all did have done well elsewhere in sydnication and I think this will too

The Nanny (2009) - Same as Home Improvement

Friends (2011) - This has also done really well in sydnication but by the time 2011 roles around (in 6 years) I think tbs will have over played it and people will be bored with it, I think it will do good but not for a long time...

So what do you think...?

Funny, but I'd rather watch any of those shows more than the ones listed as successful. But that's the way the Nick at Nite ball bounces.

Before I came to this messageboard, I never paid attention to ratings. As a kid, I didn't know what ratings were. It's just one day a show was there and the next day it had been replaced. There's an innocence in not knowing the ratings to shows.

I know "Bewitched" did well, because it was famous for being the only show (at that time) to go away and come back. So it must have done well for N@N to bring it back.

Successful: (I'm assuming since they were on for a long time)
I Love Lucy
Taxi
The Mary Tyler Moore Show

Failures:
Welcome Back, Kotter
WKRP In Cincinnati

I don't want to even think about "The Nanny" coming to N@N.

I like all those shows aswell and there has to be alot of fans out there for those shows so why are they low rated...

I used to think that ratings were that what ever you wayched you would go up to the neilsen box and choose if the show was a 1 being the worst or 10 being the best, so im just like you had no clue till about a couple of years ago...

And Why can't you think about The Nanny coming to N@N? It's A good show...

I've just never liked the show. But that aside, I still don't see it as being a N@N show. However, I'm sure it will do well.

Yeah I get what your saying, Friends used to be one of my favorite shows and the I hated it, Im starting to like it again but Im dreading it when it comes to N@N because its not a N@N type of show and they will over play it 24/7, I think they should put on newer rarely seen someday classic shows like NewsRadio...

are there any new other shows coming? anyways...

Mad About You (March 2006) - will be a failure

Home Improvement (2007) - it should do well, providing it gets a good timeslot

The Nanny (2009) - it will fail because they will put it on at 3AM

Friends (2011) - it will do OK, even though they will show 12 episodes a DAY (which would make the cumulative weekly ratings pretty good I suppose)

it'll probably fail then if no one can even remember it....

of course, if I predict that it will fail, that will most likely translate into a huge hit for them :)

NaN rarely knows what it is doing... First they wanna go to Modern Classics.. then they bring back Three's Company a few nights AND The Cosby Show?! And i agree with whoever said that Who's the Boss did well... if i'm staying up late to study and it is ACTUALLY on... i watch it, i love that show!! Mona is hilariously awsome!!! I remember when i was younger and being so excited for the summer marathon type things to come on.. I Love Lucy was ALWAYS on Tuesdays, Bewitched on Wednesdays for a while... Happy Days on Fridays i believe... i dunno, but they were all of the classics... and even TV Land is bringing some crappy shows back! They are totally going for all of these lower running but well known shows like What's Happenin' and it's rediculous how many HOUR shows they are showing that are not even "classic" and it totally sucks that they have The Munsters, Dick Van Dyke, I Love Lucy, Bewitched, and Leave it to Beaver on during the day... granted since i'm in college i can be here during the day to catch some of them sometimes, but it still sucks for most of the people in this world! If they are worried about their ability to show certain sitcoms... maybe they should branch off a bunch of different television stations... one for the 50's and 60's... one for the 70's and 80's and one for the 90's.... it'd work! oh yea... and if they do that... they better dang well bring a Classic Nickelodian Channel up here too!!

Between Mad About You and Home Improvement we could see three more shows. Not announced yet, though. Two of them are pretty good and one is, well too new. Keep this hear, no further talk on this yet.

Their most notorious bomb was Wings I think. I lurrrrrve Wings, but I remember it starting out at 1am eastern (it didn't even get a marathon, which can aide a show), and about two weeks later it was at 6am eastern. Since then they've pulled it and brought it back a handful of times, now it airs at 3:30 am on TV Land.

Home Improvement seems to have a good shelf life on WGN and TBS, it should perform well; The Nanny died in syndie, I see the same on N@N; Mad About You will be pretty dated by 2009, men/women/relationships will have changed, I see a 3am time slot ultimately; and Friends haha! That's pretty much a ratings given, even with it hammered by that point by TBS and local syndies, new kids who are five years old now will be eating it up by 2011.

Another thing to keep in mind is the DVD situation. Most of these shows will have their full seasons out for years by that point, and I'm sure that will hurt syndication. Plus by that point N@N may have done what they need to do now: launch a 3rd and 4th service to accomodate all of the shows in their vault.

Actually Wings did have a marathon when it debuted on N@N, it was on at 11pm for a short time, but it didnt take them long to move it to early morning

I swear that Pav once said that the Nanny is very high rated on Lifetime so I don't think it bombed in syndication :)

The Nanny does very well on Lifetime. I'm not sure about locals, but it might have done decent enough, since it is back on locals now.
