I was visiting another website and there was a thread about boycotting Girlfriends. Apparently, there are alot of people upset about this season. Alot of the post stated the writing sucks and this might be the last season.

What does everyone think? I know we've talked about how the episodes this season haven't started off well. Did anyone watch last night? What were your thoughts?

If you do want to send a complaint about the show or any other UPN show, below is the link.

How much longer is the show supposed to continue? It has to end at some point. I mean eventually those women have to get a life of their own and start a family. And the time to wite that in the script is NOW!!!!!!!!!

It's just a tv show. If people thought it was good once but don't think it's good anymore, they can just stop watching. I don't get what boycotting the show will do. "Boycott" is the wrong word to use if all they're complaining about is that the writing sucks.

I agree. We've all watched or stopped watching shows because they went downhill.

The show has been better in the past. This season's opening episodes aren't as good. This show now reminds me of ladies who act like they're teenagers, even though they're grown & live on their own. If I was the writer, I'd give each of the characters (William included) more depth and substance. The show should show each of them working on at least a couple of really profound things.

I mean Toni's supposed to be a real estate agent, but they haven't showed any of that aspect of her life for a long time. Joan has the restaurant now, but it's boring the way it's portrayed. All they show w/ Maya is her dumpy remarriage to Darnell. And Lynn...well, she's just drifting w/ no job or anything else for that matter in sight, I mean what exactly is she doing w/ her life? The show hasn't shown her doing anything since the show first started & she's supposed to have gotten all these Master's degrees. She's the most versatile character of them all. They can show her doing a lot of things.

At this rate, I don't see the show lasting another season after this. It's slowly fizzling out.

I think "boycotting" is a little over the top.I mean, sheesh,I think there are a lot more important things in the world to use your energy over than a sitcom on UPN!I'm gonna stick with it till the end...

Honestly. i considered myself a huge Girlfriends fan up unitl this season. I was in love with last season finale...this season...I haven't gotten into the show, and can't get into the show. I don't know if it is the writing---or basically what they have done w/the girls this season. Maybe it is time for Girlfriends to grow up. We are in syndication, we have our 100 episodes...lets quit while we are ahead.

I haven't been to other messageboard where they discussed boycotting Girlfriends. I brought the topic over here to get everyone's opinion.

I personally don't think it's that serious to boycott the show either. Like I mentioned before, we all watched shows that may have gone downhill.

The problem with this show has always been the shallowness of the characters, and the cliched plots. As others have mentioned, each character supposedly has their own things going, yet they're constantly with each other. Episodes should have branched out more and focused on individual characters more often, and gave them more depth.

Persia White is an amazing talent(especially musically), and I'm shocked she stuck with this show for so long when there are so many other opportunities for her.

Out of all the cast members on this show, she is the most likely to become a major star.

No reason for a boycott. The show got stale a few years ago, so I quite watching it. Others should do the same.

I still like this show. I think that there have been a few changes to it. It has been renewed for an eighth season which I think is great.
