Okay. So there was a Make-A-Wish-Foundation charity thing here in Jacksonville, and I heard Diana was gonna be there, so I decided to go.
There was good and bad, so get ready.
I went with my brother, my cousin, and my neighbor. We arrived at 5:00, because that's when the "red carpet" arrivals were. The "red carpet" was actually pretty funny because the red carpet was just a combination of 6 red carpets (the ones you wipe your feet on) in a row.
Well, before Diana came, Tyler Hilton and Michael Copon (One Tree Hill) were signing autographs, then GUESS WHO'S THERE? George freaking Huff. I couldn't believe it. Well actually, you know, since it was "Diana DeGarmo AND FRIENDS", i was praying that she would bring someone from Idol, and hey, she brought George. What a great choice. I was enthusiastic. After her, came in DIANA DEGARMO! She looked really pretty. She had like 5 outfit changes haha, but her first "ensemble" was really nice and sparkly.
Well anyway. So she was doing some press and stuff, and I was sort of there to listen hahaha. Of course a lot of the interviewers asked the usual cliche stuff, like 'hows life after idol' and 'how do you feel about make a wish'. Stuff like that. It was interesting. Oh yeah, and I should mention, I found a set list on the ground, so yeah, I took it :)
So we went in at 6:00, but the show started at 6:30 because Effen Ramirez (Pedro from Nap Dyn) overslept and came late. But OMG. WE ENDED UP GETTING FIRST ROW!!!!! See, it was originally supposed to be in a small venue, but they oversold, so they move to a newer venue, which was WAY bigger. only like.. 1/6 of the seats were filled . it was nice though, because it was now more intimate.
So yeah, we were FIRST ROW. lol. I've never been first row in anything before, so I was excited. It was good that I was in the first row too because my contacts were being annoying, and I had to take one out (i eventually put one in).
At 6:30-40ish, George started the show with an upbeat song from his new album called "Brighter Day". He did a REALLY good job. He got everyone on their feet. Then Diana came out, and Diana performed "Aint No Mountain High Enough" with George. Talk about FABULOUS. :) UNFORTUNATELY, during that song, while I was taking pictures, the damn security lady started confiscating cameras. UGH. she took EVERYONES camera. she was really crappy about it too. She just went to me and went "SORRY but you're not supposed to have that in here, so you'll have to get it after the show". I think about 20 ppl had theirs taken away. Personally, I think they should have used the "i-promise-not-to-use-it-again" method, because it causes trouble in the latter part of the show (you'll see why).
After George and Diana, all the WB/FOX-drama-stars told their wish stories, and .. yeah ... so after about 20 minutes, Diana performed "Go on and Cry". AMAZING. Definitely the best performance of the night. That one note in the bridge was just superb. Gave me chills.
Eventually, George Huff came out again and he told us about the Hurricane Katrina effect in his hometown. Unfortunately, his house was completley destroyed, but he's staying positive. His speech was truly inspirational because he told us that miracles always happen, and he mentioned something that really made me go "wow": it seems that there are only few because there are already a lot of good things happening in our lives, so we just ask for more (or something along those lines  )
Anyway. So then the Pedro guy came out, and we found out it was his and his twin's birthday (he was there too), so Diana sang Happy Birthday to him.
And after that, it was more wish-stories and stuff. The one thing that really irked me about the night was my cousin. She was being a complete _________. She kept playing with her cell phone, folding paper, and putting her head down like she was sleepy. That seriously pissed me off. I mean, we offered her a ticket, and she said she wanted to go. Cmon, have a good time. Not every second is gonna be exciting, but pretend it is. Don't be such a killjoy. Dammit.
ANYWAY. So the next time Diana came out, her and Tyler Hilton were talking on stage. They were hilarious. Diana was talking about how Tyler has a Diana DeGarmo t-shirt (which is girls/small), and how they're friends and stuff, then they performed "Jackson" which is a Johnny Cash/June Carter Song. It was really really really good.
After that, if I remember correctly, was the auction. OMG people were going CRAZY for the Tyler Hilton and Michael Copon stuff. I think someone bid 650 for a signed guitar from Tyler, and someone bid 110(?) for a signed CD and a lapdance from Tyler. Quite funny :)
The closing was all Diana. She performed "Turn the Beat Around", in the exact same arrangement as the show, and after that, she sang "I've Got the Music in Me", which was in a totally different arrangement. It sounded kind of like a Supremes-song. And during this performance, all the guys came out and started breakdancing.
The finale was "America the Beautiful", which Diana sang, and she finally saw me and my brother's signs, so she looked at us for like a whole verse and just sang. OMG. My face was just like  (in a happy way  ).
So the show was over, and of course my dumb cousin was like "finally", but PSH. not yet, because EVERYONE GOT TO GO BACKSTAGE!! So we all rushed into the line, and got ready to go backstage (my neighbor got my camera back for me).
The line was pretty long, but thank God we were in the front. I was SO EXCITED, but at the same time, annoyed, because my cousin was being such a killjoy. Sorry if I'm getting sidetracked with the whole review, but my biggest pet peeve is when people are given such a great opportunity, and their attitude is like "so what?". I was about to yell at her and just tell her to leave, because everyone was so excited and she was like "why is everyone so happy". I swear. Some people these days.
So when we got backstage (which was the chorus room of the university), we talked to George Huff. And I'm not kidding but he recognized me and my brother from last year when we met him!
Convo :)
George: Didn't I meet you two last year?
Me: Yeah at the Idol concert!
George: Yeah, you all had the lei's and the flowers!
My brother: Good job!
George: See, I recognized you all.
So then he signed our stuff, and we took a picture, and we were just talking about random stuff. I asked him if he still talks to Jasmine Trias, and he was like "YES! I actually have her number, but its in my cell phone in the car". Psh, like he was actually gonna give it to me. He's such a joy to be around though.
Diana came in soon after, and she signed our signs. I got a picture with her, and she gave me a hug. Not much conversation since she was the one with the massively-long line.
My Mom was waiting outside so my brother, my cousin, and my neighbor all left, while I stayed in George's line to get an individual picture (versus the group picture) haha, i felt so greedy.
But, it was fun in line because the people in front of my were HUGE Huff fans. They were talking about his Christmas album, and George started singing "Chestnuts Roasting on An Open Fire" and he was talking to us about his New Orleans tragedy. :( Everything he received (gifts, letters, etc) during the Idol tour is now underwater. I felt my heart sink when he said that =/. But he remained positive.
When I came up to the table, he was like "DAVID!" I was happy that he actually remembered my name (even though it was only 10 minutes after the group conversation). So we talked, and took a picture, and he told me that he wants me to go to his website and check his mall tour, because he "thought it was coming to Jacksonville". Well I checked, and it wasnt on the list, but it's okay!! He was being such a nice guy to me.
So after that, I left, and went home.
Whew. Great day, despite some downs.
:D But overall, I'm happy and thankful!
PICTURES tomorrow :woohoo:
