What an odd storyline for a 50 something yer old man to have a teenager as a wife. I'm just glad they were not acting like a couple in the episode because that would have really been wild. I noticed that they were never in the same scene for too long. I'm 30 and don;t have any interest in a woman who is 18-lol Very Odd storyline
Maybe one of the writers for the show was going through a mid-life crisis and
decided to do a show based on it. But they really made a strange couple
didn't they?

I thought it could only be the other way around, Olderwoman, younger man in a Sitcom, not olderman and younger woman

It would have made for a funnier episode with an older woman, can you
imagine the remarks Archie would have made?

If a 50-year-old man has an only 18-year-old wife, shouldn't that issue be against the law?

I'm 32 and I know I would feel weird having a 18 year old girlfriend-lol At 50 I probably would go as low as 29

^^Just look at Lee Majors. He's 69 years old and is married to a 33-year-old woman named Faith. But Majors has a son who is 46 years old.

Now that's weird if I was 46 years and my mom or dad were married to a 33 year old or younger I wouldnt call them mom or dad thats not right, and that is sick a 50 year old man married to a 18 year old woman thats not right. im 19 so im still able to go out with 18 year olds. If I was Archie Id be upset to. I watched Dr. Phil last week, and I saw a 38 year old woman going out with a 18 year old man thats sick and her son is friends with that guy. He decided to move out I thought that was smart Id move out to if my mom or dad was going out someone thats 18 or 19.

Yeah she looked like she was 43 or 45 or something its crazy. That is so sick and the 18 year old loves her he needs some help. Thats like going out with your mom or dad.

I think the appropriate term for the Archie's brother and 18-year-old-wife's marriage is a "Fad Marriage"

This was in the 70s so anything goes really. I thought that was a fun episode.

Remember that Cosby Show episode where a man was older and had that young wife? Was that Claire's friend or Cliff's?
How many times has a sitcom had an older man/younger girlfriend or wife in an episode?

On the show-"That's My Mama" there was a Older Guy and a Younger Girl
Melvin from Sanford and Son was kissing and hugging the Rich Girl Clarissa from Good Times

They showed this episode on tvland not long ago. The young wife's name was Catherine. I loved that scene where she comes to the door and Stephanie answers it,
"Hi. I'm Mrs. Bunker"
"No you're not!" slams door
Speaking of May/December marriages, there was a "Who's The Boss" where Mona is dating this much younger man, and Angela meets his parents and his Dad's at least 30 years older than his mom.
There were a few Golden Girls episodes about this also...Dorothy's 25 year old son marries a 43 year old woman...Stan left Dorothy after 30 years of marriage to marry a 21 year old stewardess....Blanche's father marries a woman her age...
Then there was Cosby. Vanessa married an older man, can't recall his name to save my life!!

Oh, I see. So they were engaged but never got married. I didn't watch Cosby regularly towards the end of the series, my memories are spotty.

yeah they were engaged and then broke up. I'm also surprised CBS allowed a ep like this to air since the age difference was so huge
