That episode was very daring, this was dealing with real-life, something that many, many spouses have dealt with within their own marriage. It was downright cheating and it really infuriated me when Archie was soooo nice to that blonde knowing full well he liked the attention he was getting and he could possibly get something out of that situation. He should never have let that situation get to the point of even getting her phone number. It really hurt me when I seen how Edith was so hurt.

I think Archie enjoyed the attention he was getting from the waitress and wasn;t used to it which is why he went as far as he did. It was wrong though. Also when a man is not used to getting attention from a pretty woman at all, they probably wouldn;t know how to act if they were getting attention which was the case with Archie

You know Soloman, even though it can hurt to hear a man say what you just said, it is the truth. The thing that bothers me though is that Edith didn't treat Archie like crap. He treated HER like crap. Maybe if he wasn't so damn harsh he could see that Edith was a loving wife. How many times did we see Edith trying to be compassionate (in her own way) and Archie pushed her aside? I do see your male point of view though Soloman.

Are you talking about the episode where Archie goes to the waitress house when Edith was working over time at the Sunshine Home?

Yes. That's when Archie feels I guess neglected or something.

Oh yeah that was cheating for sure. He shouldn't have went over to her house in the first place. I can see her giving him her phone number since some women do that. But he should have never called her and he crossed the line when he actually went over to her house.

I felt bad for Edith in that episode.I thought Edith let him off the hook too good. There seems like there was another episode in which he was close to cheating, I can't remember it. But it involved another lady or it might have been the same lady. It's been a long time since I've seen it!

Yep, as long as the intention was in his mind and in his heart, it's cheating. If someone comes on to you like that and you are married, the decent thing to do is tell them you are married and love your spouse so much you wouldn't want to hurt them. Edith did let him off easy, way to easy. But that was Edith.

Archie got plenty of attention from Edith. Everytime he walked through the door, there was Edith running up to him and giving him kisses.

True so very true. She was a very loving wife, if only he wasn't such an A$$. He pushed her around. He used that damn excuse abt her being with the old folks too much at that old folks home. Didn't it dawn on him that she is bored at home? Or that Edith found an outside interest (just like Archie did with that witch!)? Edith needed more to her life than being Archie's "verbal" punching bag. How dare he do that to her.
I agree with Retro's point of view as well. If a man comes home and the wife is bitching and nagging him; (BTW it works both ways, woman coming home and the man bitches and nags) spouses need affection and attention in more ways than one. They also need their "alone" time, even if it's just watching television, reading the paper, taking a nap. My boyfriend takes our son either all day Saturday or Sunday so that I can "relax" and do whatever I want, whether it's going with friends, my sister, go shopping, be on the computer.
Archie was WRONG NO MATTER WHAT.

I knew that's what u meant Retro, but regardless, Archie getting attention from any attractive female gives him no reason to do what he did in accepting her number. He should have given it back to her with his reminding her he is married.
BTW, I can't recall, did SHE KNOW Archie was married?
I hate when women know a man is married (and vice versa) but they still persist. If a person DOESN'T know one is married, than it falls on the married person's shoulders to say "Hey, I am married." I had to do that on too many occasions when I was married to my first husband. I would get guys who would flirt with me and sometimes even though I told them I was married, some didn't even care!!! It's my responsibility to say to them BACK OFF!!
Archie's responsibility was to say BACK OFF!! He doesn't have to be rude but sometimes if the person won't let up, you have to do what u have to do.

Although there's no excuse what Archie did & I'm not condoning it or anything, but I think Archie did it for a little ego & self-esteem boost. Sometimes married men do that, to see if they're still attractive or still got it as far as the ladies go. A little harmless flirting would have been alright but he should have never gotten her number to begin with.

Come to think of it, for someone who did what Archie did, he sure was quick to judge Gloria when she was unfaithful to Mike.

It is a tad hypocritical.
However didn't Gloria have sex with another man?
Archie just kissed another woman and lost his nerve before the worst of it happened.
So a kiss can be forgiven a lot easier.

Believe me it happens to the nicest people in the world.
I am not married myself because I know I can't commit to one person so maybe I am missing out on something.
But I know people who don't feel like they are sexually adequate to their wives and when they get attention from another female that they are sorely missing from their life partner they tend to act on it.
It takes a real strong person to resist. But they are out there.

I am not one to judge. It's a real touchy issue. I wouldn't know what I would do if my man cheated. And to me, cheating is not just having sex with another. It would mean if he had desires for another female. If he thought abt it. if he wondered if he could do her and get away with it. That is my definition of cheating. I know others have their definition, but in my mind and heart, that's what I would feel would be cheating. So if Archie were my man and had just taken the phone number, that's cheating, because the fact that he took the number tells me there's a possibility of more.

I understand how you feel. When he took the number, I think that's when he crossed the line, the kissing scene wouldn't have even taken place if he didn't take the number in the first place.I know when I get married I will try my best to stay faithful, but I know there's going to be times when I see an attractive female or females will come up to me & I'll be tempted, heck I have a girlfriend & sometimes it is. I'll be flattered & turn them down but I would never ever push the envelope. Some men get caught in the moment & they think of their you know what before anything else & at the point, not thinking of the consequences.Overall, I can't speak for other men but if a guy loves you or is happy in his marriage, he won't cheat, depends on the situation. I believe Archie loves Edith with all of his heart, he made a mistake & wasn't thinking clearly. It happens in real life but like I said, I'm not trying to make Archie look good!

Well men will always desire another woman from time to time. I am sure even your husband has. But as sure as I am of that. I am also sure he loves you so it is ok.
I am also sure he won't act on it. I have friends who I make fun of But I will say this. They keep their wives happy. Sounds to me that you do that to your husband.

I have to. Just like he has to!!! LOL
This post of yours reminded me of some crazy ass song I remember from the 80's (mind you I was already an adult in the 80's LOL) it went like this:
"I know what boys want, I know what boys like" something like that. some funny song that came out in some 80's movie that I hated for the fact that it would get stuck in my head!!!! Oh hell, like right now, it's stuck in there right now!!~!! Thanx George, 34% of songs that I hear end up being stuck in my damn head!!!!
BTW, check out my last post in the Carl & James afterlife thread...i left a question...

I remember the song. and you are right. It was stupid. But all music from the 80s was stupid.
It is perfectly healthy to have a wondering eye. I mean you can not convince me that a married man when he is alone and feeling a little naughty doesn't think of that hot little number at the Clinique counter just to help it a little!!
It is if the married man acts on it that makes it out of bounds.
Watching that episode is like watching your father being unfaithful to your mother. I thought it was kind of sad.
