Southern Cross, along with The Pretender, Rainy Day Feeling, and Reeling in the years, might just be my all time favorite Non-Christian songs. Those are four songs that I always turn up full blast whenever I hear them!! I love almost every Chicago song, but No Tell Lover is one of the few I don't recognize by name. I'm sure I'd known it if I heard it though.

Yeah, the song No Tell Lover came out around 1979 I believe. That song reminds me so much of my first boyfriend. Anyhow, that song is available on their Greatest Hits CD #2. When I first heard the song, I thought they were saying "Hotel Lover".

No Tell Lover's also on the "Only The Beginning" 2-disc anthology cd. I like it too, especially the chorus part of the song. I know I'm a sap but I will admit that the Peter Cetera ballads were my favorite part of the group. I love their 80's stuff (well, through Chicago 17) even though I know a lot of the hardcore fans from the early days dismiss Chicago 16 and 17 as pop tripe. I also love "Stay The Night", which showed that Chicago could rock it out as well. My faves are If You Leave Me Now, Hard Habit To Break, Hard To Say I'm Sorry and Love Me Tomorrow.

Fun fact: At the time Chicago recorded "No Tell Lover," they'd replaced the late Terry Kath with Donnie Dacus, a fellow Stephen Stills brought over from France. Dacus had been the guitarist for Stills's first wife, French singer-songwriter Veronique Sanson; he was in Stills's backing group in the mid-seventies. Dacus didn't last long in Chicago; he had a desire for celebrity in this, the most faceless of all seventies pop-rock bands.
