how do we get valerie/valerie's family/ the hogan family on dvd or at least back on the air? I really want to see this show come back. Its been a while since they aired the entire program. And is it possible for us to get this program back on. What can we do?

I think the the Hogan Family is at it's best with Valarie in it.
I wish it she was in all the episodes.
I taped a lot of shows when it was on PAX TV.
It is fun watching it.
Anybody Agree?

I agree that it was definitely better with Valerie in it. I think most who prefer Sandy probably started watching it when Sandy was on, so she's the one who they got used to first. But I think it was much better as Valerie.
Don't get me wrong. Sandy was great too, but the WRITING was much fresher and more original when Valerie was on the show. The humor was much less set up and the show was less silly and more clever.
I think the show got sillier when Sandy came on (which isn't her fault; she wasn't one of the writers) because the show really couldn't reconcile the killing off of the Valerie Hogan character in a realistic way. In order to do so, there would have to be ample mourning for the character, something that, in real life, would have taken most of Season 3 to do. But that would have meant having to focus on Valerie Hogan, which would emphasize the absence of Valerie Harper, and the producers didn't want that of course. They were trying to convince the audience that the show was just as good without Valerie Harper, which couldn't be accomplished if the show kept making references to dear, departed mom. So they shifted the attention to more campy stuff, which couldn't compare (at least most of the time) to the more substanted Valerie years. They saw it as the only way they could move on from that point, but that turned the show into more of a cartoon and less unique and funny. I believe this is why the show is hardly remembered by anybody except for us die-hard fans. It hardly stands out as being anything important and is mostly only thought of, oddly enough, when mention is made of Valerie Harper.
Still, despite the show's diminished quality, the cast remained great at their jobs, including Sandy. They were top rate actors who made you believe what was going on, even if the stories bordered on the ridiculous. They deserve all the credit in the world...
