I know he's an acquired taste to many, but technically he slaughters even Clapton. Even Clapton knew it - same with Townsend. There was a lot of jealously in England with Jimi around that time. No guitarist wanted to appear on stage after Hendrix did. That's actually what started The Who smashing their equipment - they needed to do something to try to upstage his act.
A lot of people don't realize just how good Frampton is either. Poor guy's good looks distracted from it.
Watch a film of Jimi sometime - his fingers become an absolute blur he's playing so fast. Also, only guitarist who could play behind his back and with his teeth. Just try putting your teeth on electric guitar strings sometime - its like biting down on tinfoil!

With Jimi's music the only song I can stand is "Purple Haze" Because he has these long guitar riffs that sound like nosie to me.And I wonder how he learned to play with his teeth. Was he bored at his house one day and said "I wonder if I can play with my teeth"? How does one aquire that talent?

His version of All Along The Watchtower and Voodoo Chile are amazing. Download (if you can) The Wind Cries Mary sometime - more mellow and less feedback. I also loved his version of the American National Anthem at Woodstock. Like he told Dick Cavette - it's beautiful man.....
Or Machine Gun. Extremely intricate guitar work.
I'll bet your dead on about how it came to be that he played with his teeth. I know he started out (like most of us) playing "air guitar" on his bed with a broom. His dad was able to save enough money to buy him his first guitar and the rest was history. Totally self-taught. His extremely long, tapered fingers gave him an edge on chording. I still worship the guy and have since I was 8 yrs old when he came on the scene in North America.
He was born to play and destined to die young. Mind boggling when you think he was famous for only 3 yrs before dying.

HEY! I kinda like Alanis! I have "Jagged Little Pill".....
 That's the album I hated the most and everyone was running out buying it and radio stations were playing it CONSTANTLY here because she's Canadian. I just found her voice like nails on a blackboard! I guess it was also because during that period she was purging all the built up angst and pain in her music and it just depressed the hell out of me!
Meanwhile, when she was younger she sang totally different - more to my liking.
I really also don't see what people see in Prince. Sings like he got his nuts caught in a door to me! He has a home here in T.O. and will sometimes pop up at local clubs.

I thought I was the only person who remembered this gifted and devoted Cnristian artist! I love the words and music of every one of his songs, and his heartfelt singing and piano playing! If I ever get to heaven I hope to meet him, and to ask God why he was taken away so much too soon!
Here is my other favorite Christian artist--Twila Paris. My best friend, who plays guitar and leads the folk choir in her church, says my singing sounds like Twila! Yeah right...I should be so talented LOL! This pic is off my favorite album of hers--True North.

It's so cool to find yet another Keith Green fan at this website. I had a Keith Green photo as my avatar here about a year ago, and was very surprised to see how many fans of his there actually were at this site. Alot more than I expected! His photo also brought out alot of curiosity in people, as I probably had about one person per week asking who the guy in my avatar was. Many of them thought it was Grizzly Adams, LOL. Hopefully though, through the curious people, many more Keith Green fans were made.
Twila Paris is one of my favorite artists too. I actually bought every one of her albums, (tapes actually) off Ebay for $5.00 awhile back. What a bargain that was!! I think my favorite songs of hers are Do I Trust You, and God Is In Control. Along with her and Keith, my other favorite Christian artists are: Michael W. Smith, and Steve Green. Josh Groban is also one of my favorite secular artists, so it looks like musically, you and I have an awful lot in common!! :)

Little Mel, I guess I haven't checked this thread in a while LOL! Didn't see your response til now.
Anyway, I like Twila Paris's song "God is in Control" (the whole album, really), too, but I love "Run to You" on "True North" especially, cuz it is so unusual for a Christian song--very "George Benson"-type guitar on that one, and I like jazz.
I love Steve Green and MWS also--you are right, lots of musical taste in common. Here are pics of them and of one of my other favorite Christian artists, Steven Curtis Chapman, BTW.
Must admit, though, I dunno who Beth Hart is...
Oh, and Keith Green looking like Grizzly Adams?! LOL!
