View Full Version : AI - Random Observations

After watching AI over and over again, you're bound to notice some random things, so share them.
Here are mine. Haha.
- The first performer in the final 3 round has been the one eliminated every single year.
- Carrie Underwood never performed in the middle of the show. She either performed in the beginning or end -- and also, starting in top 6 week, she was either the frist or the last contestant.
- In "Sin Wagon", Carrie started early (she says "you push me"), but she corrected herself.
- In "Chain of Fools" (Wednesday), when she's on the platform, you can see her spit. (lol my brother was the one who noticed.)
- Jessica Sierra is in the audience on Top 7 Night. (haha wow i JUST noticed that today)
- Jessica, Mikalah, and Lindsey have always been ... together, in a way. In the Hollywood round where they divided the top 72 into 4 groups, they had a clip of Lindsey, then Mikalah, then Jessica --- in top 24 round, Mikalah was 9th, Lindsey was 10th, and Jessica was 11th. -- in top 20 round, Lindsey was 2nd, Jessica was 3rd, Mikalah was 4th -- in top 16 round, Lindsey was 6th, Mikalah was 7th, Jessica was 8th. In the top 12, they were the bottom 3 -- and most obviously, Lindsey ended up being 12th, Mikalah ended up being 11th, and Jessica ended up being 10th.
- Anthony is the first contestant (I think...) to have been in the bottom 2 3 weeks straight (actually, maybe even 4, because we don't know if he was in the bottom 2 or not on top 7 night)
- Vonzell and Jasmine both cried on final 4 night, and ended up being 3rd.
- The person in 3rd place every season landed in the bottom 3 a lot.
---> Nikki (Landed in the bottom 3 on Top 10, 7, 6, 5, 4 night)
---> Kim L (Landed in the bottom 3 on Top 12, 8, 8 again, 4 night)
---> Jasmine (Was in the bottom 3 on Top 9, 6, 5 night)
---> Vonzell (Was in the bottom 3 on Top 9, 6, 4 night)

More interesting facts I thought of...
Ooh I just noticed that two of Diana's songs on her album contradict eachother, Don't Cry Out Loud and Go on And Cry :p
Also, Diana landed in the bottom 3 three times but never was in the bottom 2
In seasons 3 and 4, the runner-up was in the bottom 3 on top 8 night..however in Season 3, Diana was safe first but in Season 4 Bo was in the bottom 2.
Every season except for season 2, the person who won went last on the finale performance round
Jessica and Amy are a LOT a like. They both recieved "ehh-ish" comments from the judges on top 12 week, however on top 11 week, they performed LAST and were one of the performances of the night. Also, on the top 10 results show, they were both the first person on the second row, and they both got out 10th.
George and Nikko are the only contestants to come back to the show after being eliminated due to someone quitting/leaving the show.
Kelly may be the only contestant to never get bad comments from the judges.

I have decided to bring this thread back to creaky life to bring my random observations for AI5. :p
Karen*
06-11-2006, 05:16 PM
My random observations from AI5...
- Chris Daughtry and Katharine McPhee have performed back-to-back consecutively from top 12 week to top 8 week.
- Ace Young appeared in the bottom three every other week until he was eliminated (He was in the bottom three on top 12, 10, and 8 week and was eliminated the next week).
- Lisa Tucker was in the bottom three for three straight weeks until she was eliminated (top 12, 11, and 10).
- Kellie Pickler sang Bohemian Rhapsody on top 8 night and placed in sixth place. Constantine Maroulis from last season also sang BR on top 8 night and placed in sixth as well.
- Katharine performed second on top three night. She delivered a "showstopping" performance of Somewhere Over the Rainbow as her second song in a part-acapella. This is parallel to Bo Bice's acappella In a Dream performance last season, which was also considered to be a showstopper. He was the second performer and that was his second performance of the night. Bo and Katharine placed as runner-ups.
- Every odd-numbered season, the shock elimination takes place at fourth place. (A person who is deemed as a front-runner gets the boot.)
- AI1: Tamyra Gray
- AI3: LaToya London
- AI5: Chris Daughtry
- Elliott Yamin is the first male in AI to place at third. However, the first person to sing on top three night is always the one to leave.
That's all I could think of right now. More later.

a few more...
- In addition to the Kellie/Constantine thing, both of them were never in the bottom 3 until the night of their elimination. Both were also "love em or hate em" contestants.
-The person to perform second on top 5 night has always been eliminated
- Staring with top 5 night, Taylor Hicks and Carrie Underwood went either first or last. Also, they performed at the exact same performance number from top 5 night on (last on top 5 night, first on top 4 night, last on top 3 night, last on top 2 night)

Song lyrics are very suggestive to when people may be eliminated. Some are self-explanitory, the others, I'll explain.
Jessica Sierra - And after all the try agains, don't be afraid to fall - she auditioned more than once.
Lindsey Cardinale - I don't wanna lose this good thing that I've got.
Mikalah Gordon/Carmen Rasmusen - Saying goodbye is never an easy thing.
Brenna Gethers/Ryan Starr - Last dance.
Melissa McGhee - 'Cause this time could mean goodbye.
I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them.

- There were three contestants from North Carolina this season: Bucky Covington (Rockingham), Chris (McLeansville), and Kellie (Albemarle). A semi-finalist, Heather Cox, was from Jonesville, NC.
- Chris is the only married father from the top 12.
- Melissa McGhee and Jessica Sierra from season four share the same birth year (1985) and are from the same city and state (Tampa, FL). This can be considered an eerie coincidence to some since they share a similar singing style of country/rock.

i was bored in english class today and thought of ALL of these observations...but they're all for seasons 3-5 because that's all i watched
- The 4th placer in seasons 3-5 has ALWAYS landed in the bottom 3 on top 7 week.
- Jessica Sierra and Ace Young both went first on top 12 night and wound up being in the bottom 3 that night, but were sent back to saftey first. They both went last on top 11 week and didn't land in the bottom 3. Then, on top 10 week, they both landed in the bottom 3 yet again, however, Ace was sent back first and Jessica was eliminated.
-There's some odd coincidences about the performance order for top 10-8 week in seasons 4 and 5. First of all, Vonzell Solomon and Eliott Yamin both went last on Top 10 night and wound up getting third place. Then, the next night, Nadia Turner and Bucky Covington both went last on top 9 night, and both wound up leaving the next week. To make things weirder, both Nadia and Bucky went first on top 8 night, the night they were eliminated.
- Top 8 week was an hour long results show for both seasons 4 and 5.
- The winner has never landed in the bottom 3 in the first 5 weeks of the competition. The earliest a winner ever landed in the bottom 3 was top 7 week (Fantasia). The most often a winner has even landed in the bottom 3 was 2 times (also Fantasia). Also, 3/5 winners managed to escape the bottom 3 every week of the competition (Kelly, Carrie, Taylor), and Ruben and Fantasia are the only 2 winners to have landed in the bottom 3.
- For seasons 3-5, the winner has always recieved somewhat bad judges comments on top 6 week (Fantasia was told she sounded like donald duck on helium, Carrie was told she was under-pitch, while I think Taylor was called boring). The runner-up for those seasons has always recieved good comments that night (Kat was given bad comments at first but Simon apoligized the next night).
-The winner has ALWAYS recieved good comments on top 5 night for seasons 3-5, and at least one of their songs was critizied on top 4 week (Fantasia- Holding Out for a Hero, Carrie- If You Don't Know Me By Now, Taylor- Jailhouse Rock)
- The runner-up for seasons 3-5 has always given a showstopping performance on top 3 week (Dont Cry Out Loud, In a Dream, Somewhere Over the Rainbow). Each year, it was a different theme that held the showstopper (DCOL was Clive's Choice, IAD was personal choice, SOTR was judge's choice)
- Niki McKlibin (sp?) holds the record for being in the bottom 3 the most times, followed by Scott and Anthony.

6, i think. and that's BAD :) that means she only had like...1 week where she wasn't in the bottom. cause...the finals lasted 10 weeks, but the first week 2 people got eliminated. meaning it was an 8-week elimination round final (that's if you include the finale). she got 3rd...meanng she was there 7/8 weeks. meaning there was only one week she was safe.

- The Bohemian Rhapsody one can be changed to "a Queen song", cause Michael Johns snag We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions in Top 10 week, then got eliminated two weeks later in his first time in the bottom 3
- In both the last two seasons the first to go on top 3 night DIDNT get voted off
