George Michael into RRHOF?

Since we asked about Madonna, how about George Michael?? He was just as big as she was, both with Wham! and solo. And had just as much scandal as Madonna. So do you think he will be inducted or not???

15 years ago, I think he could've been a contender. But I think he has probably alienated too many of the people who were fans in the 80's in the first place. First he refused to appear in videos for "Listen Without Prejudice", then he sued his record label, putting his recording career in limbo for a few years, then he denied being gay to the extent that the whole world knew, and then came the bathroom incident which has made people stereotype him as a pervert.

He still makes good music, but I don't think what he's done the past 15 years has been commercial enough to keep him in the A-list. I know people (you know who you are) who think female artists are supposed to be pretentious folk singers with ZERO appeal on the dance-floor to be any good and would greatly disagree with me tho in the minority, but one of the reasons that Madonna was able to survive similar scandal was because her music (bar the American Life lp) was commercial enough that people who were sick of her could still go "you know, Madonna's a slut but I love Secret". George's recent music has strictly appealed to his fans with very little appeal to convert people over who weren't fans to begin with.

I like George Michael, the singer, not a DJ on WABC from the 70's. I'm talking about a singer George Michael. He will be induct into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame soon. I have his albums "Ladies & Gentlemen", "Faith" and "Make It Big" by George's group Wham!

I love the song "Careless Whisper" Yes, He has done some very weird things but so have countless other rock stars. Wham and George Michael were big in their time so I see no objection to his induction. I really know not too much about him other than the scandal. But I do think that Wham was a very good group! Any good band deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame IMO :D
