The Michael Stanley Band are a blue-collar rock and roll group named for its guitarist-leader that has a big following in their home state of Ohio but, unlike their next-door neighbors in Michigan, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, they've never broken through to a national audience. They're a cut above other heartland bands, though, and they are a prime candidate for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Pros:
They're from Ohio, where the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is located.
Their Tom Petty-esque single "He Can't Love You Like I Love You" is one catchy tune!
The video for "He Can't Love You Like I Love You" was aired on MTV in the channel's early days.
Cons:
The Rock and Roll has no time for a band that's only popular in one state, even if it is Ohio.
Seminal new-wave bands from Ohio like Devo and Pere Ubu have a better shot.
If any Ohio old-wave band gets in to the R&RHoF, it'll be the James Gang.
Your thoughts? :D
