I'm so glad it's finally coming this is probably one of my favourite comedies of all time. I haven't seen the first season since it's been on TV so it will be great to watch it again. From tvshowsondvd.com

After announcing cool titles from Carsey-Werner like Roseanne and 3rd Rock From The Sun, Anchor Bay Entertainment continues to come on strong with their distribution deal, targeting Grounded For Life next. Donal Logue (currently seen occassionally as "Chuck" on ER) and Megyn Price (previously seen on LateLine) star as Sean and Claudia Finnerty, a couple who were parents right out of going to high school together.

Fiery red-headed daughter Lily, 14, is the oldest of three children and causes the most trouble for her parents (who can still sympathize with her more than they want to, being in their early 30s themselves). Younger sons Jimmy and Henry cause trouble, too, but Grandpa Walt (Richard Riehle, memorable for his gropes in the first episodes of Ally McBeal) has their number ("Oh, there WILL be spankings!"). Besides, none of the kids are as immature as Sean's brother Eddie (Kevin Corrigan), a ne'er-do-well twenty-something guy who's unemployed but makes his way with an odd combination of mooching and doing shady deals.

The series started out on the Fox Network, and after a couple of seasons moved to The WB for three more seasons. Now Anchor Bay is prepping the first season of the show for DVD release. No word yet on when it will hit, but if it misses the end of this year, then it shouldn't be too long into the new year before this fun sitcom hits the stores. We can't wait!

I love this show.It off for a while, but it's still funny. That was funny when Lilly was so embarassed by Claudia that she took their suitcase leaving Claudia without any clothes but her robe. Then she had to flash the guys to get through the road:lol:

Good news; thanks Felix. I don't believe that I have seen any part of the first season. I think that I started watching during season 3. Found it to be one of the better shows on television. Usually I find the children in most sitcoms annoying but in this particular show, IMO they added quite a lot.

Its exciting to have this coming out on DVD, since it struggled it's intire run.
One of the funniest shows in recent years. Season 1 was maybe the BEST. After watching a while, I noticed that it had a feel similar to another show I like; My favorite show: Growing Pains.

And what a coinsidence - Both show come to DVD on the same day!

I loved Growing Pains when it was on the air... a saw a commercial for its set coming out on DVD and my first thought was how dated it looked.

I was thinking I would pick this up as a b-day gift for my sister (who has mentioned the show more than a few times over the years), but after seeing the post by Better Days saying it is reminescent of Growing Pains I may have to include a note to my sister saying I hope she'll make time to let me watch it with her!

I watched Growing Pains as well and that is what probably attracted me to GFL in reruns. It reminds me of that show and I loved it. I am definatly picking up the dvd for the awesome extras and so I can watch it whenever I want to!

Its great watching these over again. I didn't realize how many shows are now using the flashback format as a staple. I think grounded was the first to do it on a regular basis and it definitely works well.

great am glad to hear about its release to dvd, this is a definite must have for my collection. i must say i loved kevin as eddie, eddie was wild with his hanging-loose-but-always-there charisma...and the way he plays the 'been-there-done-that' understanding protective uncle was quite endearing. And also donal logue is such a great actor & did a perfect job playing quinn, it was like that character was written just for him.. All in all the show managed to appear original every time!.. i cannot wait to pick up my copy of it

For the show being off the air for awhile now, they sure put the effort into the extras. HEHE bloopers, my favorite! :D

Thanks for finding out the extras and listing them... I am a HUGE fan of bloopers! It is so much fun to see the actors not only slip up, but how they interact with one another out of character and just having fun!

NIce link. Thanks! I think Walt and Eddie have to be the funniest characters on the show followed closely by Donal Logue, he is just as funny on this as he was on Mad TV! Great stuff!

Okay, I confess... all this talk of Grounded for life got me watching the re-runs yesterday and today on ABC Family, and I'm starting to think that in addition to getting the S1 DVd as a present for my sister I may just have to get myself a set... or borrow hers back just as soon as she's had a chance to watch the show. This is a MUCH funnier show than I ever realized.

Today was the episode where grandpa (Walt?) as a friend Woman that his son (Sean?) scares off. I LOVED his three versions of answering the door at Dad's version. Revisionist history portrayed at its best. :) No clue what season these eps are from... but it does make me wish I'd realized why my sister was watching this when it originally aired and been tuning in. ;)
