Okay kids, this TV season is nearing the finish line, and quite a few series went out on a high note. Which season finales knocked you for a loop?

Hey TJL, why don't you start?

Why thank you voice in my head, I think I will.

2. "Veronica Mars" This UPN show was one of my favorite shows of the season. The season long mystery of who killed Veronica's best friend Lily Kane was finally solved (and it was a pretty good surprise) and the identity of Veronica's real dad was revealed. A great ending to a great freshman season. Let's hope Veronica Mars isn't a one season wonder...

1. "Battlestar Galactica" Not only is this show miles ahead of the original 70's series, it had the most shocking ending of any series this season. The last minute of the finale really blew me away. I wish a certain other Sci-fi series that got canned this season had such memorable moments...

What other finales made your day?

CSI. That was scary and odd and touching all at the same time. Terentino is weird.

CSI or Less Than Perfect

Desperate Housewives, non stop drama in the finale, and we finally find out why Mary Alice killed herself. We were left with wanting more

Less Than Perfect, I think it was a great finale. Hilarious as ever :)

Smallville, after a crappy season, the show totally rebounded in the finale, it was action packed, well acted, well written, and left us wanting more ;)

Charmed, fantastic finale, probably the best one besides the season 3 finale "All Hell Breaks Loose"

I was sort of disappointed in the DH finale. I mean, I'll be back in the fall without a doubt. But after the weak ending, it doesn't leave me dying to find out whats going to happen.

I do have to say though, Veronica Mars gets my pick as best season finale.

Wait, no, nevermind Arrested Development's season finale was not only the best season finale of the year, but also the best episode of the series thus far, and the best episode of any show, since "Maris Returns" on Frasier in the fall of '03.

well, it was sort of a weak cliffhanger. Does anyone watching really think James Denton is going to leave?

24 and CSI had the best season finals IMO.

DH was great too. I'm also looking forward to Lost but that don't air until tomorrow.

IMO it wasn't weak, I mean anything can happen when Mike walks through that door, Susan could get shot, Mike could get shot, Zach could get shot, we don't know. I thought it was a good cliffhanger ;)

I think a cliffhanger with Carlos, John, Paul, George (why doesn't the show have a Ringo? lol) or someone else would've had people more on their seats. James Denton is way too popular a cast member for the show that I don't think anybody is worried that him or Susan are in any grave danger. Even if Mike gets shot, we've already seen him go through that before.

Veronica Mars - awesome episode, i only wish that I had gotten into this show earlier :(

CSI - GREAT story, this show is still on top for good reason.

Charmed - this was a good episode, a good season finale, and would've made a fitting series finale, but it leaves too many questions for how the show will continue...

Arrested Development - loved it, I hope this show starts picking up ratings soon

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - AMAZING, I really enjoyed this one.

Las Vegas - really not the greatest finale; too much emphasis on the "who's buying the Montecito" story

Medium - I can't STAND it when they have a season finale that isn't so much a cliff-hanger as a "to be continued..." episode; I love this show, but this wasn't a substantial enough storyline to make fans wait until next season for the resolution.

LOST - will probably be AMAAZING. correction, it BETTER be amazing, or I am gonna be PISSED pissed:

So I won't anger MsOrange and the other Gilmore Girls fans on the boards, I would like to add the season finale of "Gilmore Girls" to my list as well.
Nothing like a marriage proposal in the last 5 seconds of the episode to shake things up...

I got that impression as well... after all this talk and hype about this "massive cliffhanger", it was to, put it mildly, lame. Come on... Teri Hatcher and James Denton are not going ANYWHERE. I was fully expecting to hear a gunshot when he walked in the door. THAT would have at least been a little better.

If ABC's promos of "The biggest cliffhanger of the season" are correct then Lost is going to SUCK tomorrow.

I'm not sure if next season's gonna be that great. I'm anxious to find out about the new family's secret, but the guy who plays George is back and I can't stand him. I am going to throw something if he worms his way back into Bree's life.

Don't get me wrong... I LOVED the episode(especially the Susan/Edie scene at the door and the court scene), but it felt like a normal episode. If it hadn't been so hyped up, I wouldn't have said anything about the boring cliffhanger.

Lost. It doesn't air until tomorrow night, but there is NO WAY this is going to suck. Everything is set up too perfectely for it not to go off without a huge bang.

True... but ABC promoted DH as having "the biggest cliffhanger" which if that's the case, Lost is going to be disappointing.

When I think of a "big cliffhanger" I think of something happening at the end of the show that leaves your jaw dropped all summer.

My thoughts exactly. Marc Cherry obviously payed a lot of attention on how to make a series good.... but he must have been skipping the days of finals, or in this case -- finales. Although I prefer Desperate Housewives as a whole to Lost, Lost most definitely won in terms of season finales. Everything about it was perfect. My personal favorite storyline was with the raft, and, without giving away any spoilers.... their last scene in the episode was just plan awesome.

Without a doubt LOST! Excuse My French But HOLY ****! I Am Completely Lost. That was the best season finally i have over the past couple of years IMO. But to tell the truth the last scene is a big cliff hanger i just don't get it and the whole crew on the raft situation it doesnt make any sense. omg. yeah when does season 2 start?

I just loved Lost, Alias and DH's finales. All three were good to me. Some say DH wasn't that shocking, but it still left us with a ton of questions.

The DH finale re-airs Saturday at 10... it was a great EPISODE, but didn't feel very "final" at all. I'm not DYING to know what happens next really. After the promised "massive cliffhanger" it was a big letdown.

Now ALIAS was a cliffhanger!!!

Brent, maybe because you hunted for every single spoiler out there on the web, so you knew what to expect, lol.

Yes, Alias was a great cliffhanger. Lost too (those "others" are CREEPY!!).

What the hell was up with the Alias finale? I was only half paying attention to it, but specifically watched the end. It was shocking, yes, but it almost seemed like a "well, we've got two minutes left, and this scene is going nowhere, so let's make it REALLY shocking" type of moment. I guess it worked though- I will watch in September just to find out who Vaughn really is and what the hell happened at the end with the crash.

As for Lost, best finale I've seen in a very long time. I've come to love Lost more than DH, and that's saying alot. DH didn't leave me dying for September to come, but Lost certainly did.

Rousseau is crazynuts, the Other have a boat (if that was them) and the hatch leads to god only knows where..... Come on, September!

I wasn't very happy with the LOST finale - we were promised SOME answers!!!

I mean, I realize that they wan't to leave a cliffhanger so people will be dying for the next season to start, but IMO they didn't give us ANYTHING but more questions. It left me feeling ripped-off; as if the writers don't really know themselves what is on the island with the survivors, or what they are going to do with the story, and they just made a bunch of stuff happen to buy some time to come up with some lame excuse of an explanation.

It was implied that there would be some clues as to the cause of the plane crash, but I re-watched the episode a couple of times, and none of the flashback scenes seem to be anything but filler - if there were any clues I just couldn't find them.

But I still enjoy the show just as much... they had shot multiple endings reportedly, so I thought, OK, they'll show one that hasn't been spoiled(which was really only one). Way overhyped. When you tell me massive cliffhanger, I expect a massive cliffhanger.

I agree with you. The only thing about the DH finale I liked was Marcia's acting and Rex being dead, if he is. I didn't care for the shocking cliffhanger at the end. Everyone knows Mike wont be killed off. He is the main male character on the show.

Cold Case was a good finale too.

I had to deviate this away from the ABC finales thread. :p

For me the bestest finale this season was CSI. The psychological ramifications for Stokes... well, I'm waiting with baited breath for next season to see how it pans out.

None of this season's finales really blew me away. There were some good ones but nothing that I will really remember once next season starts. Well, maybe Gilmore girls. But by and large the finales I saw were mediocre.
