Guys,

I heard that it was/is common practice for a TV station to cut out about a minute of footage even when a show goes on it's first syndication run. Was/is this true? Was the footage actually cut or time compressed and for how long has this practice occured?

yes, I remember when Cosby Show was airing on a local station in 1990, when they first started airing season 6 (the 1989-1990 season) reruns that fall, I remembered a scene involving Kenny in an episode missing that I'd remembered vividly seeing in it on NBC's summer reruns less than 3-4 months before.

sadly, that is true. Even for shows as recent as "Friends", "Seinfeld", and "Everybody Loves Raymond"
