Westerns. If you are under 30 and watch Gunsmoke or Bonanza, just curious to know how you became interested in these shows? Remember these shows only stayed on years ago because there was no cable.
How did I know that you were going to say westerns? HOW!? Oh wait, I know! Because you're highly predictable!!!
Or maybe I'm clairvoyant...*stares*

My parents have always watched westerns and I learned about the shows from them. I like sitcoms more, but I like westerns too.

What do you mean they only stayed on because we didn't have cable. I always thought they stayed on for they were good shows.

Well let me explain, when Gunsmoke and Bonanza was on the air, there were only 2 other channels to choose from. The most was about 4 once the shows went into the 70's. But it wasn't like now where you have so many channels to choose from. My grandmother also admitted that it was nothing else to watch so the show just GREW on her in the 50's.

I find I prefer the shows from the 50's 60's and 70's when we didn't have cable. I seldom watch ANY show produced in the last 25 years.

The first western movie I watched was True Grit, and I liked it a real lot. Eventualy is saw The Shootist, Red River, The Magnificent Seven, and The Ox Bow Incident. I couldn't get enough I then turned to my friend TV Land and watched Gunsmoke for the first time. I realy enjoyed it and have been taping it at 6:00 in the morning for almost a year. I realy don't like Bonanza but I like Maverick and The Rifeleman. Gunsmoke is my favorite I enjoy the characters the situations the guest stars every thing about it is great

Actually, when I was about 9 or 10 years old, (1990/1991) I really got into watching Bonanza and Gunsmoke. Back then Channel 26 in Green Bay would air Bonanza every night at 7pm Central time, my dad would watch it and I would watch along, and I got into it. In the summer of 1994, Channel 32 out of Appleton, aired Gunsmoke weeknights at 8pm and I watched it all summer.
However, today I don't watch westerns, and in fact don't watch much TV period. I prefer movies and TV on DVD!
