please everyone learn how to use the on ramps for the southern state. don't stop half way on it and dont hesitate when merging into the lanes. i dont enjoy almost being side swipped because of stupidity. luckily i was smart enough to change lanes quick because some ahole almost hit me but then ended up hitting the car that was in back of me.
and they really need to make the on ramps bigger. the one by the exit by my house is so damn short.

I always try to pull more to the left lanes when approaching on ramps. Actually I usually try to drive as much to the left as possible - it avoids having to slow down, speed up or just watch my own a$$ with some of the idiots that don't know who to merge properly. I've actually seen some idiots stop dead - like they're waiting at a stop sign for the traffic to clear!! Incredible!

This applies all over the US interstate system. If people actually knew how to use the on ramp to speed up! and how to merge, life would be easier for all.

Add Canada to that - we've got plenty of moronic drivers up here too!

I'm on the road alot, and believe me, it's not just Texans!!!
It's also not just the people who don't know how to merge, some people think they have to slow down to let the person on. Yeah, that may be courteous, but you're just asking for an accident. And it would be the person who hit you from behind's fault!!

That is so frustrating. If they're not using them in the first place, they'll turn them on and leave them on. ohno:

Yeah, I know. It's pretty bad in Texas. My family seems to be adapting to that style of driving though. Does a red light mean stop there? Nope, it means go if you're within 300 feet of the intersection.

And I'll bet the driver has white/grey hair, their head barely making over the jumbo sized headrests that Cadillac's have right?!!!
They'll go for miles with that #&%@*^$ blinker going!! Drives me nuts!!!
Or how 'bout the jerks that tailgate the crap out of you even though you're already going over the speed limit, so you finally let them pass, only for them to get ahead of you and then go the same speed. I call it the "I have to be first" syndrome!!

I had a woman like that coming to work today! She'd sit on my ass at stoplights and when they turned green, she was still on my ass. I smoked her though...my V6 has got a lot more power than her crappy Ford Escape.

I had a lady that was going under the speed limit on a highway, so I went to pass her. She speeds up to like 15 over. I sigh and get back behind her. She slows down to 10 under. I go to pass her again. She speeds up to 15 over. I get behind her again. This woman could just not let me pass her! pissed:

Exactly! It drives me nuts, too. I mean, would it kill some people to turn the suckers off? I'll be behind one of 'em and it's like, "Ok any minute, he's gonna turn. I just kno... well, guess that's what I get for thinking."
That is the one thing that will drive me absolutely insane: Those damn tailgaters. "I have to be first" syndrome is right on the money!! They can't bear to have you behind them, they can't bear to have you in front of them. It's as though they own the entire road. Hey guess what? There are a million other people who have some place to go, too. I'm a patient person and really, if you just have to be ahead of me that is fine. I will gladly let you pass but do not pull that crap. I hate it when they ride my ass for miles only to wind up going to the same speed. ohno:

Good for you! I love doing that too in our Aurora with the Northstar engine!

Oh yeah - one of THOSE - they're real special! Meanwhile, I had that happen one time and I swear I was setup. The car ahead was doing that (and just driving at really inconsistent speeds - under the speed limit, then barely at it...etc.) so I really gunned it, got past them and sure enough, cop there. Meanwhile there was a van ahead of me, the cop lets him go, I get the ticket, and when I asked why the van got away, he said "Oh he was able to slow down enough to the speed limit before I could catch him" - then why was I caught? For the speed limit posted, and the speed the cop claimed I was doing, simple physics say I would have been into the van. Still - got nailed for 2 points and a $313 fine!!

That pisses me off. You see these people who are hauling ass and they never get pulled over. Yet he sees you and without a second thought, he's decided you're the one who gets the ticket.

I HATE interstate driving. Unfortunately, I have to do it to get to school. I swear 80% of drivers change lanes without looking. They just ASSUME no one is next to them. I don't know how many close calls I had with morons almost hitting me.

My car has been hit so many times, and what's sad is that it was parked all those times. My car is small, but not that freaking small.

LOL. I wish it were that color, than maybe they could see me when they are pulling out. I only got hit once while moving, and that wasn't my fault either. I was at a light making a left turn, I had the green light and arrow, and I started to turn and somebody blew through their stop sign and I hit them on their side. They didn't have insurance  .

Or worse yet - you see the cops hauling ass like 40 kms (for us, its kms) over the speed limit and he's not even going to a call! My mom once saw one who even had his siren going and pulls into a bank. This is back in the days when banks closed at 3 p.m. and there were no ATMs. She hestitates going in because she thinks they're getting robbed....no - turns out the cop just wanted to make it to the bank in time before it closed!! Unreal!

Oh lucky you! I had a similar thing happen on the way to work one morning. Some goof pulls out of a gas station, across 5 lanes of traffic, I can't see him because all the cars are stopped for the light, I got to get into the left turn lane for the light and ram into him. It was his fault - caught without a license or insurance, turns out I had pulled muscles everywhere from it (luckily only that) and I have to go to his court case as a witness. I sit there using up a vacation day at work for this creep and he has the nerve to try to tell the judge that I had been drunk!!!!! It was 8 a.m. on a Monday morning! Luckily the cop was there and put a stop to that real quick because I stood with my head in the cop's window looking at his computer screen when he was getting my statement. He said he smelled no alcohol and I was NOT intoxicated at all! They ended up adding some other charge for the false accusation on top of it! He still got off easy though. But wasted my day and I had to go through my own insurance on the claim.

The other day I saw a cop tearing down the road in a hurry like that, so of course you're thinking, "Wow, something big must be going down!" Hell no, he just happened to be in a hurry. Driving through red lights, the whole bit. People had to move into the other lanes just so he could get through! But you're right, it's even worse.

I've always been convinced that the ramps to & from Meadowbrook Road should be closed permanently, and the eastbound off-ramp at Exit 41A should be switched over to the right side, while the on-ramp from Robert Moses Causeway should be split between the Southern State/Sagtikos On-ramp and the Hechsher Spur. And I'll bet $1,000 that as soon as NYSDOT tries it, groups like the so-called Long Island "Progressive" Coalition, and the Tri-State Transportation Campaign(which should rename themselves the "Tri-State ANTI-Transportation Campaign"), will raise a big stink and tie them up in court for decades to come.
