Syndication Question

Hi,
I grew up in the boston area and i don't recall the honeymooners being on when i was a kid (the 1970's). The earliest i ever saw it in the boston area was on channel 68 around 1985. then it spent alot of time on channel 38.
does any one know who else showed it in the boston market, and when? it has been in syndication since the 50's i know that 1985 can't be the first time it showed up here.
any one know the history?

wow. i guess no one posts here anymore. too bad. i love this show. if you don't have knowledge of the shows syndicated history then how about this question:
When did you first see "the honeymooners"? How old were you? How did you come accross it? Did you not like it at first? Had it been way too build up before you saw it?

I don't know about other places, but I grew up in New Jersey in the 60s and 70s (born in '59), watching mostly New York stations...along with a few "UHF" stations from Philadelphia (pre-cable days)...

"The Jackie Gleason Show" was still on while I was growing up, I think on Saturday nights at 7:30..."The Honeymooners" (Classic 39) were broadcast for the longest time on WPIX Channel 11, at 11:00 every weekday night... this seemed to go on for years and years... it was still running when I was in college (graduated in '82, and havent been to NJ since 85, I'm in Florida now). In fact, it was on for so long that I remember being shocked when we found out that only 39 episodes were made, and those were the ones being shown over and over again...

I don't remember any of the Florida Stations running the C39 Honeymooners for any length of time, if at all...I've lived in Orlando, and now live in Southwest Florida

I always liked the C39 Honeymooners... in the early 70s, I seem to remember watching them a lot after watching a Mets or Yankees game on TV (WPIX carried the Yankees and WOR Channel 9 carried the Mets... and since, back then, games that started at 8:00 were over between 10:30 and 10:45, the Honeymooners would always be on at 11:00)... I thought it was so great...me and my friends really liked Art Carney, and we thought Alice was a "fox"...

OF course, I bought the C39 DVDs, so now I can watch the Honeymooners anytime...I find I usually watch them at 11:00 pm, just before I go to bed... there's something about that 11:00 time slot, that'll always be "Honeymooner time".

Hey, thanks for the history on Honeymooner reruns. I have heard of that New York channel that aired it for all those years. I found out about the Boston syndication history on another site. It seems it played for years on channel 38 and then moved to 68 for a year or so in the 1980's and then back to 38. As far as I know it isn't on in the Boston market at all right now.
I just got the classic 39 on dvd and i agree, the 11pm time is perfect for this show for some reason.

I was a little surprised at seeing a different Alice & Trixie on them. (Sheila MacRae & Jane Kean played them in the musical sketches in the 60s).

Wow, now THAT'S what I would call a different perspective! Imagine seing one of the C39 episodes for the first time and being surpirsed by a "different" Alice and Trixie!

Now that I think of it, I did get a satellite dish back in 1985 (I was in Florida by that time), and WPIX Channel 11 in New York was one of the stations I could get... I believe it may now be a "super station", although not as widely distributed as WGN or WTBS.... anyway, I know the Honeymooners was still playing on WPIX at that time (mid-late 80s)... I don't know if it still is.

But always at 11:00 pm... :)
