Final 6 Performances Discussion/Spoiler Thread

Discussion for tonight :D

Theme is for sure: 2000-2005.

Carrie is up first. We get to see packages (that we usually see in the top 12!). There's a clip of her fishing, and we see the farm clip with her in the red shirt again. When she was little, she would sing to her cows. She's the youngest of her family, and was close to her Mom. She loves animals.

Her hair is straight and she's dressed nicely. She's singing an upbeat country song. According to IDF, it's called "when god fearin' women get the blues". She's doing a pretty good job. It's not really stretching vocally, but it's a good opportunity to show personality, which I think she did.

Randy - You were under pitch during most of the song. [compared to where the band was]
Paula - It didn't show you vocally, but it showed your personality.
Simon - The people who vote for you will absolutely love you after that. He basically said the same thing he told her after "Because You Loved Me". He said that last week, it seemed like someone else chose her song, but this week it seems like she chose her own song.

Ugh. It wasn't her greatest, but it wasn't bad at all. 1866IDOLS01!!! Get her in the top 5 =]

Hmm, and it looks like the spoilers are right so far.

Therefore, the rest of the night --

carrie opens the show with "God Fearin' Women Sing the Blues", followed by a poncho-shirted, "sunglassed" Bo singing, "Anything But Me " (the title is probably wrong there.) Vonzell is third singing "I Turn to You".

last half of the show opens with Anthony, in a blue shirt and blue pinstripe suit singing, yes----Celine Dion's "I Surrender". he's outstanding. Constantine, all dressed in black with a sassy silver belt, sings (and KICKS) his way through "I Don't Want to Be What I Really Am" (i know this is the wrong title, but you all will recognize the song.) Scott ends the show with "Dance with My Father," which is nice but hardly worthy of the prized last slot.

I KNEW Carrie would do a Martina song. Unfortunately, it's not the one that I wanted her to choose. I thought she did good, but the musical arrangement of this song was HORRIBLE. This song usually rocks so much more, so I was disappointed with how they arranged it.

Bo Bice - I Don't Wanna Be (Gavin DeGraw)

Very very good job. I enjoyed it, even though I hate that song. He has sunglasses and a multi-colored shirt though, so I thought it was funny :lol:

3. Vonzell - I Turn To You

Randy - Welcome to the dawg pound!
Paula - Ditto.
Simon - That wasn't as good as you two thought.

I loveeee Vonzell, and thought her performance was good, but there were definitely some sharps and flats.

4. Anthony Fedorov - I Surrender

Randy - Beginning started off rocky, but you do awesome with the high notes.
Paula - I remember Kelly Clarkson doing this in Season 1, and what you did was you had a beginning, middle, end (something like that), and it was one of your best.
Simon - I personally hated it, but your fanbase will love it.

5. Constantine Maroulis - How You Remind Me

Randy - Not so great vocally.
Paula - Song didn't showcase vocals... but she said something to make it positive, I just didn't hear it.
Simon - When you left your band, it was like Star Wars (?), and you became good at the crooning stuff. You going back to rock wasn't believeable (i think that was the word). It was a bad imitation of the original.

And Anthony's done well for the last two or three weeks straight! Not Scott. If he gets through, I'm really going to start thinking something's up with the voting somehow. Don't know what, but it just can't be right. Anthony was never one of my big favourites, but he's won me over the past few weeks.

Since I wanted to comment on last week's episode, I'm gonna comment on both last week and this week...

Carrie - omg I LOVED LAST WEEK'S PERFORMANCE! LOVED IT! The big hair was so divaliciously COOL and that fact that she hardly moved around just made it even better. I loved it! This week was good as well, but nothing can top her 'MacArthur's Park'...

Anthony - wonderful last week and great this week. Very great, actually. He's definitely caught in my threeway tie of Carrie, the Vonz and him. And then he's extremely hot.

Constantine - I didn't like last week's or this week...

Bo - Vehicle is NOT dance! But he did good this week...

Vonzell - LOVED her 'I'm Every Woman' from last week. I was hoping she'd hit the "Iiiiiiiiiim" part as high as Chaka Khan did, but she did great nontheless. This week was great as well.

Anwar - Last week...no comment.

Scott - I think that the less said here, the better. But sometimes my thoughts are wrong. I'll make it short and sweet. What the hell is he still doing here? He needs to get his ass home soon.

I thought Vonzell's choice was good, but she could have done way better.

I have mixed feelings about tonight.. hmm..

Carrie: Ehhh I thought she was pretty good. She wasn't GREAT to me though. I mean it was country which is of course what she does best, but I dunno I just didn't feel it was a REALLY really good country song for her.

Bo: HE. WAS. SO. AMAZING. I used to love that song when it first came out, then it got overplayed and I hated it :lol: but after hearing Bo do it, it was like hearing it again for the first time and loving it all over. I might even vote for him tonight, maybe. -.-

Vonzell: Alright, when the song first started playing I was like meh this might be boring, because I was really really looking forward to her doing an upbeat song, but wow her performance was AMAZING. Especially the really really high part... psshhh Christina Aguilera who? :p

Anthony: Oh man, when Ryan said he was singing Celine Dion.. I just thought... what ARE you doing Anthony!? You're setting yourself up for failure. But wow I was wrong. I thought he was amazing tonight. This was definitely his best performance. I remember Kelly Clarkson did amazing with this song and now I think Anthony did too.

Constantine: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH :livid: :mad: :livid: I think that song is probably one of my least favorite songs of all time. Seriously. I've hated it since the day it came out and hated it ever since. Everytime I hear it I just want to throw things. I can't stand it. And so...yeah it kind of hurt to hear my favorite idol sing it. I didn't think it was good. I still say he should have sang I Believe in a Thing Called Love by the Darkness...it would have been so perfect :crying:. I'm...so scared for him this week, so I'm voting my heart out tonight.

Scott: Uhhhhh I seem to be the minority here, but I didn't think he was THAT bad -___________- I actually thought it was one of his better performances. I thought it was a good song for him.. and I dunno.. maybe I'm deaf or something -.- but yeah out of the 6 I DEFINITELY want him to go.. FINALLY ONCE AND FOR ALL.

I have a feeling Vonzell and Scott are sure shots in the bottom. Carrie and Constantine didn't have awesome performances, but they have awesome fanbases, so they'll probably be safe. Anthony, though he did a fabulous job, might land in the bottom 3, unless Constantine slips down [or Carrie, but if anyone, I think Constantine will be the one to slip]. Bo was the best tonight, so he's safe no matter what.

anthony - outstanding. the past few weeks i haven't been liking him because of his weak voice, but that sounded like a difficult song and he nailed it perfectly.
constantine - he sounded pitchy and rough.

I rewatched it, and here's my ranking.

1. Anthony Fedorov - I Surrender
It was without a doubt my favorite performance. Kelly's was better, but he still did a great job. He really impressed me, and is now my favorite guy in the competition ... er... maybe he's tied with Bo :lol:

2. Bo Bice - I Don't Wanna Be
He was actually fun to watch this time, and though I hate that song, he still sang it really well.

3. Carrie Underwood - whateverthatsongwas
Eh, to me, her weakest yet vocally, but it wasn't that bad. She showed personality, and had stage presence, and sounded decent.

4. Vonzell Solomon - I Turn To You
I loveeee Vonzell and hate to see her this low, but I honestly didn't think it was as good as Randy and Paula made it out to be. It was kinda pitchy in and out, and it was just okay for me.

5. Constantine Maroulis - How You Remind Me
I never liked that song. I always thought it was a really ugly song. But, ugh, I prefer him doing the pop/crooner thing, not the rock thing. Overall, it was pitchy and just... eh.

6. Scott Savol - Dance With My Father
Boring. Boring. Boring.
