The fact that they are perhaps the OLDEST rock and roll band in all of history.

ZZ TOP!When I was 7, those costumes were the hottest things in the world!!  Also, I later found that CHERYL LADD sang on the album for album back in the early 70's!
High:
Either "Tush", "La Grange", or the Eliminator album.

High: Back In Black...their only commercial hit album!
Low: Fly On The Wall...it was recreating Back In Black redux!
Next: Michael JacksonHUH????!!!!  Back In Black their ONLY commercial hit album?? Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, though it was
released in 1976, topped the charts at #3 when it was re-released in 1981, and For Those About To Rock hit #1 also that same year. The Razor's Edge hit #2 in 1990, and Ballbreaker went to #4 in 1995. Highway To Hell, though considered one of their most popular albums, peaked at #17 in 1979, which was a commercial improvement over their previous releases due to Mutt Lange's production.
Back to: Michael Jackson
High: Thriller
Low: the accusations of child molestation which led to his arrest and trial a few years ago which resulted in acquittal (not to mention the deterioration of his looks and the dangling of his child over a balcony in Berlin). Musically speaking, it would probably be his "Invincible" album. He had a public meltdown where he called Sony president Tommy Mottolla a "racist" for not promoting it.

I thought everybody was going to say about his shortlived singing career with his two RCA albums which would be his all-time low(his self-titled album briefly charted and was quietly shuffled on the sidelines. The second album went nowhere.), right next to his reality show, 45 and Single. Sometimes it is better to not have a reality show....with an annoying actor like Johnny V...
ABlairican Pie
11-23-2007, 01:27 PM
I guess that was his musical high and low rolled into one. The fact that he was able to record albums in the first place may have been a "high", but the fact that neither went anywhere was a definite LOW!!
There's a real problem with actors who get into singing and performing, it's been a checkered endeavor, for the most part. While they may be able to sing, they don't have the reputations of being musicians and songwriters, and the album forays just seem to be just an extension of their acting careers.

Well, at least Baio had some talent. He was a good guitarist, an okay drummer, and played the piano. At least, he could have been used for backing bands instead of his voice. It would probably save career points, you know. Well, he wasn't that bad of a drummer...he had some skills. At least, he played the piano pretty well and rocked with the guitar a bit. :drink: But, anyway....back to Primus! Enough of my history on Scott Baio... I could play the drinking game.
Primus
High: They Can't All Be Zingers!
Low: That's a toughy... I just got two of their CDs and they still rock.

Several highs:
The albums Peace Sells, But Who's Buying?, Rust In Peace, and United Abominations, which show Dave Mustaine and his hand-picked co-guitarists from each era (Jeff Poland, Marty Friedman, and Glen Drover) at the peak of their playing and thrashing abilities
Lows: His arm injury which briefly led him to disband Megadeth five years ago. That, and the Risk album.

Low Point: "Hold The Line"
Next: Prince
What??!!! The 1978 hit that first put Toto on the charts??  A "low point"?? I would actually say the death of drummer Jeff Porcaro from a heart attack in 1992 which was brought about by the use of pesticides as well as a heart condition. The media had a field day when it was discovered he had a mere trace of cocaine in his system, which was perhaps from years back, if in fact he had used it at all.
Back to: Stevie Wonder:
70's hits such as "Superstitious", "Higher Power", and "Sir Duke", songs which personified r & b at its best.
Lows:
The car crash which nearly ended his life, and that corny "Part-Time Lover", when his career output in the 80's was dominated by wimpy synths.
Testament

Okay, since there are no takers:
High:
Practice What You Preach, from 1989, which followed two very popular thrash masterpieces, and made them the most watched-for band in the wake of Metallica's mainstream breakthrough. Alex Skolnick's guitar work even far surpassed Kirk Hammett's on songs such as "The Ballad" and the title track.
Low:
Skolnick's departure from the band a few years later, and vocalist Chuck Billy's serious illness.

I think both songs are great in their own way. Rosanna is like a little musical all to itself with a lot of great instrumental solo parts, and Hold The Line is a great classic rocker. Another great Toto song that nobody seems to mention is "Stranger In Town", I don't even think that's on their Greatest Hits album but it's one of the better post-IV songs.

Next: Rainbow
Highs: the Ronnie James Dio and Joe Lynn Turner eras, with hits such "Man On the Silver Mountain", "Long Live Rock And Roll", "Stone Cold", and "Street Of Dreams"
Lows: the Graham Bonnett era where the band got more pop-rock influenced on songs such as "Since You've Been Gone" (not really a bad song, but not like they were with Dio); and when their video for "Street Of Dreams" was banned by MTV in 1983 for allegedly having a "hypnotic" nature.

I remember "Stranger In Town", the video was based on the British movie "Whistle Down the Wind" where a fugitive criminal guilty of murder hides in a barn loft and convinces children outside that he's Jesus.
