Two real life folks died which were sort of referenced in the show:
The first is Johnnie Cochran, the not so subtle inspiration for the smooth talking Jackie Childs.
The second is Ms. Dale Messick who created the comic strip Brenda Star, which was a reference used by Jerry in regards to Elaine's hair.
