...I grew up in the 70s and 80s.
The radio was always on in my house. Usually CBS-FM oldies & muzak. Either that or anything from Al Green, Marvin Gaye, to Johnny Mathis, & light jazz on the record player. That's why I know & appreciate lots of songs from that era.
But since my parents are from Central America, I heard *Plenty* of reggae & calypso growing up. Looking back, I gotta say, I heard a big mix of stuff. Dad liked The Stones & kept playing "Wild Horses" often & mom sorta inadvertantly got me into the Beatles.
So all that had a huge impact on my tastes. Though around high school, I got into the heavier, "weirder" stuff on my own.
What about you?

I pretty much discovered music on my own, but I do remember when I was little listening to some of my mom's old vinyls from the 70's The one I listened to a lot was the American Graffitti soundtrack!
But I started to listen to my mom's Led Zeppelin CD when I was 11 or 12 and became addicted to it. this was in like 1995 and my uncle got her the CD. It's the one with Stairway to Heaven on it. She also got me into the Bee Gees (Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack) and the Isley Brothers!
As for my dad he has absolutely no musical interest whatsoever. He doesn' own any records, tapes, cd's- nothing! He's much rather watch sports than listen to music!

My father is a great lover of music, and he influenced me with his love of jazz and blues.
My parents only listened to country music. I didn't know there was any other
music until my aunt let me listen to Elvis and then The Beatles when I was
around 8. I guess only listening to country when I was young turned me off to
it.

I grew up with the music of the '80s and '90s and still have a soft spot in my heart for the artists and songs of that time. I love a lot of the music of the '50s-'70s as well.
A lot of my taste in music comes from my folks: my dad was big into Roy Orbison, the Everly Brothers, Ritchie Valens, Gene Pitney and the Supremes. My mom loved the Carpenters and Mamas and Papas. My aunt and uncle are huge Beatles fans. I have CDs by all these artists in my collection.

My parents are big music lovers. My dad got me into coutry music due to the fact that he was in a local Country western band for 15 years. My mom she is a big Jazz fan and she likes some rock stuff. So they always had music going on in my house. I mean if it wasn't my dad's band practicing they either played cd's or some music show on tv. My parents are even in the church choir and they form quarts to sing in church the days the choir doesn't singing. I even remember when I was younger my parents made me and my brother play our band insturments at christmas time for my grandparents when we had our family christmas, that was so much fun. I played the trumpet and my brother played the sax and my dad would get into to it to and either play his quitar or his Synthesizer. So I would say my parents had a big part in my music Influences I mean I love country and classic rock and a little jazz and that is mostly due to my parents
