god, this morning my jaw kept like.. dislocating itself. i had to open it all the way to get it back in place and it hurt like **** every time, and when i closed my mouth it did it again. i had to keep getting it back in place about 30-40 times before it decided to stay. and it still hurts.

i lyke my literary analysis essay. i think eye did good.

Author Shirley Jackson has interested readers with the fictional stories she composed for years. “The Lottery.” one of these stories, is among them. It’s the story of an annual lottery drawing held by the residents of a small village. Jackson used several techniques to keep the story informative for the reader.
“The Lottery” takes place on June 27th, a warm summer day in a small village. It’s the time of year for the lottery to be conducted. Most of the story takes place where the drawing is held, downtown between the post office and the bank. It’s the early morning and the villagers are gathered around for the event.
Jackson gives plenty of background information to keep the reader informed of the theme of the story and familiarize the characters. There appears to be more background information than the actual story. Jackson goes on for two or three paragraphs describing a box. There is also too much useless information on the characters and events before the story actually begins. After that, the setting takes place downtown for the rest of the story, and there is way too much useless information before anything really happens.
Unfortunately, Jackson doesn’t appear to have the capability of writing a real plot. From what I understand, there is a lottery to be taken place, and at the end, the person who wins it gets rocks thrown at them. It’s not even hinted that that’s how it’s going to end up until it happens, which makes it confusing, because Jackson wasted most of the story on things like what the box looks like. No conflict ever rose and it didn’t even look like she finished. A real plot would be a guy writing to FOX falsely explaining that his son is dying from a terminal illness and his last wish is to have Gumbel 2 Gumbel put back on the air, and goes to lengths so incredible to keep up the charade that God gets mad and re-enforces the plagues. People would want to know what happens in the end of that, not in the end of “The Lottery”.
Clearly, Shirley Jackson does not know how to write good stories and Seth MacFarlane does. She doesn’t realize that people don’t usually like reading stories with no meaning. The story of the rescue of Gumbel 2 Gumbel is a real, meaningful story.
