There have been alot of times on the show when I thought that Jerry just wasn't funny.He certainly isn't the funniest character on the show,when you've got Kramer and George there.I had this conversation with other people and they reckon too that Jerry's stand up routines before and sometimes after the show were not always amusing.What does everyone else think?

Jerry was funny on the show. He wasn't the funniest, but was very amusing.

Definitely funny.
Jerry always had great [snide or heartless] comments and was the go-between for the main characters, and he was kind of the brains for the operation.
The stand-up material, although very Jer-like, was written by the writters as they tried to have it relate to the episode.

I thought Jerry was funny. I agree with you that he wasn't the funniest one on the show, though.

Also, I think some of the other 3's best seinDialogs occured between them & Jerry, with Jer as their "straight" man.

He is funny. I'm sure not everyone likes him (despite what his fake mom says) but there is no doubt he is funny in the broad sense of the word.

Jerry, I thought was alway funny if not amusing. Alot of people I talked to didn't like his standup, but liked his show. I liked both. :cool:

Jerry is the least flashy character of the show, intentionally. He's more the observer, someone for the wackier characters to play off of. I think he's hilarious in his own way.

I thought he was funny. He wasn't a great actor though. You could tell he was trying not to laugh the whole time :p . But he was suited to a sitcom like this with three other wacky characters. I think the way the main character is sort of the least wacky, really lets the supporting cast shine.

Jerry was the glue that held the show together. If you were watching Seinfeld for the first time, you wouldn't be keen on Jerry but as you watch more and more, you understand the character of Jerry and what he is all about. You gotta love all the hints at his cleanliness and the Superman love.

I loved ALL characters on Seinfeld.How could you not? They were all so funny in their own way.Jerry was funny because he is the most 'normal' of the three.I thought he was funny,and thats what the question asked.Yes,Jerry was funny.

Jerry was hilarious when he would open his eyes real wide when one of the nutcases said or did something crazy. I think Jerry is funny, in both his standup and on his show. He caught my eye before he was famous. He used to be on David Letterman a lot. I saw his standup show in 1988 at a Cape Cod concert hall.

I agree with everything that has already been said - sometimes he was funny sometimes he wasn't. He was funny when he said things that were realistic but every now and then it would be something completely random.

Actually Jerry and Larry david wrote Jerry's standup material as it related to the show. As they brought in more writers, Jerry found it difficult to keep doing the standup clips for the show and eventually they did away with the routines.

I think Jerry is funny, overall. Sometimes he's very deadpan or monotone, which doesn't agree with everyone.

I think Jerry is just as funny as the other 3. He is the wise ass of the bunch.
