Above is a link on a recent article regarding the murder of Mickey Thompson and his wife Trudy. It mentions that the death penaltly will not be sought against the man charged in the case. But if convicted, Michael Goodwin faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. Goodwin, who was Mickey Thompson's business partner, has been in jail since his arrest in 2001, but no trial date has been set (which is hardly a surprise since California's legal system is notoriously slow).
You may recall from the UM segment that witnesses reported seeing two men fleeing from the crime scene via bicycles. These men were believed to have been hired to kill the Thompsons, but they have never been identified.
