That was the first album from its new label Def Jam Records. LL Cool J was the first hip-hop artist to signed the contract. Def Jam was founded by Russell Simmons back in 1984. One of the first artist to record for Def Jam was T-La Rock's "It's Yours". One the songs that launched the label, kinda like Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass' first song to record for A&M called "The Lonely Bull". "I Can't Live Without My Radio" was LL Cool J's first big hit.
