First of all, my condolences to all the victims of the tsunami. Seeing those home videos of the tsunami really showed how tragic things were.

What are some movies that you know about that features tsunamis? Movies like The Perfect Storm and The Poseidon Adventure showed ships overturned by tidal waves, but they aren't the same as tsunamis hitting land. I'm sure there are quite a few movies that show a tsunami hitting land, but I can think of only two right now:

1. Meteor (1979 with Sean Connery)
2. Deep Impact

In both of these cases, the tsunami was not caused by an earthquake but rather, objects from outer space crashing into earth.

What are some other movies featuring tsunamis?

I seem to have a very faint memory of a show or movie from the early 1980's that featured an American beach-side resort wiped away by a huge tsunami. Can anyone shed some light on the name of that movie?

I saw a tv movie on Hallmark once called 'Tidal Wave: No Escape'.Its such a cheesy title but it was a good movie. It was about tidal waves being deliberately caused by terrorists using bombs,or something. It was scary,to think that COULD happen.
Here's the plot from IMDB

When brutal tidal waves suddenly destroy many coastal communities in a short period of time, John Wahl, a nobel prize winner, is brought out of his lazy retirement and back into service as a consultant. He teams up with a Navy officer to find out the cause of the disaster. But when a ransom of one billion dollars is demanded, Wahl is the government's number one suspect

Another movie featuring a tsunami was The Day After Tommorow. But i remember when Deep Impact came out that it was news, because it was one of few films to focus on tidal waves.
