Over the last two years one of the Dayton radio stations has aired a "retro" American Top 40 with Casey Kasem on Saturday morning. (For all those fortunate to live in the Miami Valley, it's WMMX "Mix" 107.7 between the hours of 7:00 and 10:00 a. m. Unfortunately they cannot fit all forty into the show, but I digress.) The spotlighted years over that time period have ranged from 1982 to 1988. Today I got a wonderful surprise--the featured year was 1981! That is one of my favorite years for music! :happyface :cool: :woohoo:

Congrats! Woohoo!!! High speed rocks! :rock: It's been a little over a year since I've had cable high speed, and I cannot imagine myself ever going back. It's sooooo nice! You'll quickly get adjusted to it and things will never be the same.

Thanks. I'm already having problems though with connecting through the high speed. :( I've had to go back (at least for now) to dial up. I've only had it one day and already there are problems with it for some reason.
Aw, that sucks. Hopefully, the problems will be temporarily. What kinds of problems are you experiencing?

High school is WAY better than middle school. In 2008 it will have been 20 years since I started middle school and there are experiences from those two awful years that I still have not recovered from. I'm glad to hear that everything is going well for you. :)

My grocery store ran a special on Del Monte canned vegetables. Normally, they're 89 cents a can. They went on sale for 50 cents. If you buy 15 cans, they take $5 off at the register. I also had two coupons ($1 each).
Bottom line...I got 15 cans for 50 cents.

I was pretty lucky in regards to high school, but junior high was terrible for me. When I drive pass my old junior high school, "House Of Pain" by Van Halen plays in my head.

The fact that I started middle school 15 years ago makes me feel old. :lol: What's scarier is that I started preschool 25 years ago (1981). A quarter of a century. :eek: I have to be in the minority because I liked middle school. For reasons I'd rather not go into. The only reason I liked high school was because of my bestfriend who was a teacher there. I didn't really enjoy elementary much.
Overall I liked both elementary and high school, but junior high was...well a "House Of Pain".

You and me both. I loathed Junior High; first, I was one of the ugliest girls in school (because I was under developed, etc) just a plain nerd and terribly shy. I remember this jerk making fun of me because I was flat chested, well God, must had felt sorry for me, because I am now a full C cup and (even at 36) I still turn heads...but Jr. High was pure hell, it was so bad, that I barely can remember that time period in my life. I have blocked a lot of the experiences out.
Yeah, I try to think as little about those two years as I possibly can. I think that is an awkward period is most kids' lives. As far as that jerk who made fun of you, he is probably fat and bald now. :lol:

Woohoo!!! My college is holding open auditions for our Theatre Department's Autumn Show on the 7th of October (next Saturday), so I would like to audition!!! Oh, this is going to be sooooo much fun. I have been waiting for this since the beginning of the year when I decided to try out some theatrical work.
Wish me luck, everyone! I hope to get cast a part. If I do get a part, there will be a local college-only showing on the days of November 17-19th. This will help me overcome some shyness and will be a lot of fun to portray some comedic acting I've been wanting to give a go!! Yay!! :wave:

Wow, it's been a long time since I got on here! Well, I moved into my new house about a month ago. We still have some unpacking to do though. I like how I have a lot of room to run around out here with my little cousins. And, this may sound crazy, but I like the fact that I get to cut grass out here! :lol: I really like my school, there's only about 500 kids and they're pretty nice. A bunch of my friends are on the football team, and we won our game last night! :D The one thing I don't like about the move is the quietness. All my life I lived up the street from I-70 and some train tracks, so it was always noisey. Now I'm on seven acres of land and all you can hear is the wind! But, today there is a race going on at the Kansas Speedway and my house isn't too far away so I can hear the rumble of the cars from here. It makes me feel like I'm back in my old neighborhood! :lol:

I got to chat a bit of a longer time this time with my crush. Oooooo....it was ever so sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet just chit-chatting with him and how he was asking me questions. Awwww.... I was sooooo tempted to invite him to walk around the track, but he still doesn't know me enough. It would probably make him feel a bit awkward at the moment. Damn....
Well, I hope that breaking the ice by chatting with him is going to get him to be more prone to hang out with me in person. Ooooo... Me want!!! :biglove:

Thanks, but I don't want to jump the gun quite yet. It was just chatting. I've been down that road just being overly happy for just and things never worked out. I really hope this will finally work out because it's getting quite frustrating putting my "all" into something I really, really want and never succeeding into a crush. I can't afford to just sit around and wait. I try, try, and try, but I don't get it. Anyway...this is the positive department, so I will just have to hope he'll enjoy chatting with me the times I catch him to chat so he will be more inclined to want to meet me. *crosses fingers*

Haha yeah you probably would have! I seen all the traffic coming from the Speedway, I can't even imagine how bad it was! I was sitting at work thinking today (because frankly folks, I know how to do math and reading....I don't care to pay attention to anything in the first grade room), and I realized how far I've come in, oh, 10 years. Maybe less. I had some friends in HS who volunteered in the special ed room and would hang out with the special ed kids in school and sometimes out. That was never me. Those kids scared me or something. Small children also scared me because I didn't know how to talk to them, I didn't understand them, discipline was not my thing, etc. Ironically now, I not only work with small children, but I work with special ed kids. And it doesn't scare me. Frustrates me, yes, but it doesn't scare me. They can be sweet kids. And kids seem to like me...even though I may not still relate to them all that well.
I don't know if it's the drug or maturity. But I guess I'm kind of proud of myself.

We sure do. :) My sister is exactly 14 years younger than I am. To make it even stranger she was born on her due date. I was a month early. My sister likes to tell people that we are twins because we share the same birthday despite the fact that we were born 14 years apart. :lol: What would have been really strange is if she would have been born at the same time. She was born in the afternoon on 10/20/1992 and I was born in the morning 10/20/1978.
Wow.....I wonder how rare that is. Kind of cool though. :)

At the beginning of this school year she didn't know her phone number, address, date of birth, or middle name. Now she knows her phone number, address, date of birth, and middle name. She still makes some mistakes with the iinformation, but she's really done well with learning that inmportant information. I've been working with her everyday after school. I'm also working with her to get her familiar with the computer such as typing. She has difficulty writing so having typing skills will help her. Hopefully in a few years she will be able to type up certain school things, like homework. She doesn't really know how to spell or read, but perhaps with more practice on the computer it will help with her reading and writing skills. She's at a Pre-K to K level for reading and writing. I'm hoping that by the end of the school year she will be able to spell the street address we live on. I've also been working to help her with her math skills. She currently can add (with difficulty) single digits. It hasn't been easy because she gets frustrated easily and has a very short attention span. It's nice though to see where she is now from where she was last school year. She even took the initative to call me today to let me know that her school bus was running late so that I wouldn't worry. Because she knows her phone number now she was able to get permission from someone in the special education office to call me. It takes her awhile to dial the phone number, but she did it. :) I told her how great she did by calling me. I hope this post doesn't sound like I'm bragging, because I'm not meaning to. I'm just glad that I've been able to help my sister in some way. :)
You have all the right to brag. :) I work with a first grade special ed student, and he can be very frustrating, so I know what you've been through. But it is really great when they show they've learned something.

That's understandable. I didn't want to turn 27 last year and I'm not sure I want to turn 28 this year. :lol: I was talking to a friend of mine on the phone yesterday and she told me that in two years when I turn 30 I can just say that I'm 29 and holding. :lol: I do think it's kind of cool that I share a birthday with my sister. One of the reasons my sister thinks it's cool is because it means two birthday cakes instead of one. :lol:
:lol: I probably won't even get one cake. But that's alright.

:lol: That's cool. I remember when I turned 18. I can't believe that was ten years ago. :eek: My sister will turn 14 on October 20th and I will turn 28 on October 20th. So what are you going to do for your birthday on Thursday? Just curious. :)
I honestly have NO idea! lol My sister was supposed to be throwing me a party, but I haven't heard anything about it, so I'm hoping she didn't forget, which is possible. I just want to be with my family and my pets and have a great day!

Better than what my cousin did. She just turned 18 too, and she spent only like 5 minutes at home. My uncle was upset.

Woohoo!!! I got ALL my cable channels back!!!! I'm so damn happy!!! It wasn't the new cable lineup that decreased the channels. There was just something that went wrong with the cable connection to my apartment. I'm soooo glad I finally decided to call the company. It took me two damn months. Talk about lazy! Man, at least, I can say I did live without cable for two months and lived to tell about it. :rofl:
Well, I am happy now. I get my lovely favorite channels (Nick-at-Nite, Disney, TV Land, ABC Family, E!, Discovery Health, TBs, etc)! Yay!!! :D

That's pretty good! To get smoother selections of hair, I would recommend using the Extract command. It lets you select hair, grass, and other fine objects much closer. What version of PhotoShop are you using? I believe in both CS and CS2, you can find it in the "Filter" menu.

Woohoo!!!! I finally made it to our annual International Balloon Fiesta!! My mom, my sister, an aunt (mom's sister), and I attended the event very early this morning. It was 6:30 a.m., and it was free to enter/park! No charge! I can't believe it has taken me many, many years to finally attend this world-wide event happening right here in my own city. Ever year I always feel lazy and think, "Oh, next year." Then I thought about "what happens if there will be NO next year?" That was enough motivation for me.
Anyway, we had such a great time. We spent ALL morning long there, and my sister and I took a lot of pictures. :D

Her profile is set to private, so I was dying of curiosity to look around her page and poking in on her comments to see if I find more proof. :lol: Besides, I'll find out soon enough what the deal is.
I actually don't know whether this would fit best here or in the other department, but I am placing it here because maybe I am just jumping into conclusions. I could always get to know people to make friends. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

I set out to the used bookstore in search of A Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess, but didn't find a copy there... So I just browsed around the store for a while. I ended up finding a copy of Random Family (http://www.amazon.com/Random-Family-Drugs-Trouble-Coming/dp/0684863871/sr=8-2/qid=1161235423/ref=pd_bbs_2/104-2707258-8895161?ie=UTF8&s=books), by Adrian Nicole LeBlanc, and bringing it home with me. I have such a fascination with New Yorkers, their growing up in the city, and the history of New York City in general. The one part of New York I haven't really had a chance to read up on is the Bronx. I'm pretty well-versed in my knowledge of Manhattan and Brooklyn and okay in my knowledge of Queens and Staten Island. For some reason, I just never happened across any books that focused specifically on the Bronx, or the people that grew up in the Bronx. Soooo... I am excited to start this book! :)
Oh yeah, and regarding my search for A Clockwork Orange, I am just going to buy a 1970s UK reprint on eBay... That decade was the one with the super-cool book cover (http://cgi.ebay.com/ANTHONY-BURGESS-A-CLOCKWORK-ORANGE-PENGUIN-1977_W0QQitemZ250039315668QQihZ015QQcategoryZ29224QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) that was apparently not sold in the US back then, for some reason.

So I sulk by the books.
Then I get the urge to look one last time, and sure enough, in a little corner, there was my flapper girl costume. Just waiting to be bought.
So I said "EEEE!!" really loud, and this Korean lady looks at me weird.
I grabbed some hosery and a danish and headed to the register.
The woman rang me up and she said, "$6.45".
I said, "Excuse me?"
"$6.45. All Halloween items are on sale today."
I said, "EEEEE!" again and the same Korean lady looked at me weird again. I could feel her scorn.

I can't believe I actually have good back up from the guy I crushed on's childish behavior from his sister-in-law. Apparently, he's been acting weird lately and not treating his own family well, so she is telling me that was not really nice what they both did to me. She can see why his wife did what she did (by leaving him).
The girl who he got to send that message to me I actually thought about getting back at them. She wrote someone saying she's got a boyfriend, so what if I found out who he was and forwarded that message that was sent to me to him just to get her into trouble? :devil:
It's good that I am not going to waste my time on him. The sister-in-law is actually backing me up and supporting me. This feels very relieving. I am being supported. :)

They accidentally slipped and told me. Cecy wanted to personally let me and my sister know via email, so I have no choice but to pretend I don't know anything yet. Damn....I can't even congratulate her yet until she tells me! :lol: I'm gonna be climbing the walls until then! Argh...hahaha... :lol:

I had to look up what ensign meant in the dictionary ("lowest commissioned Naval officer.") I'm not sure what his exact rank will be. All I know is that he will become a commissioned officer. I don't really know or understand all the different ranks in the military including the Navy.
The commissioned ranks in the Navy are:
* ensign
* lieutenant junior grade
* lieutenant
* lieutenant commander
* commander
* captain
* commodore
* admirial
