On the December 14th episode. Pretty interesting. He was supposed to be the original J.T. and his first appearance on the show he plays a gay character.

I saw him last night & he had red hair LOL. Eve's gay beautician came to the club that Eve & her friends be at & approached Bumper about proposing to him on the Eiffel Tower on New Year's Eve last year hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Ali Landry looked so hot in that dream sequence where she was talkin about she almost married a rich governor & he had a heart attack when she opened up her robe to show her breasts LOL.

I recently got a copy of the pilot episode and I am glad they have Jason George playing the part of J.T. He is better looking and a much better actor. Donovan was a lawyer in the pilot.

I saw the episode. What struck me was after the hairdresser outed Bumper's character, Eve aked Bumper "Are you gay?" and he said, "Not anymore!" Then Eve dumped him and won the worst New Year's Eve ever award.
Call me politically incorrrect, but what if the guy really wanted to change? He seemed to really be feeling Eve's character and maybe he had bad experiences with males. I know people who were lesbian and/or gay and just lost the desire, but the show made it seem like the gay guy becoming exclusively heterosexual was ludicrous and impossible. It just made Eve's character come across as being shallow to me.
Aside from that, this show is frothy but has some funny moments. I still think Eve is the worst actor and comedian in the whole show though. This series does to an extent capture the spirit of the times: young single urban professionals of color in an exotic locale. I haven't watched it regularly, but they are staying clear of racial stereotypes and even though Eve and JT have broken up, they seem amicable towards each other which is progressive. It isn't UPN's worst sitcom on at the moment (I haven't seen 2nd Time Around much so I can't rate it, and One on One is deliberately geared towards kid viewers, so I'll say the sitcom with Duane Martin is the most pedestrian show on UPN at the moment).
Eve is a show that could well be on for a while because a lot of people I know can relate to those characters and on UPN you don't need blockbuster ratings to run 5 seasons.

This was a very interesting episode. To see the originally slated actor for a part sitting next to the guy that eventually got it was different. I was surprised when I saw that. As far as the red hair! What was that all about!!! If you look at the top of his head the way the light was hitting him it looked like he was balding! He also looked like he had lost weight compared to the picture above. Personally I would have like to seen him play Shelly's boyfriend for at least a couple of episodes. As far as him "feeling" Shelly, it worked for Ann Heshe!

Jamesanthony, why would I, a straight male want to date a female who said-"she's not gay ANYMORE?-LOL That's nasty. Eve did the right thing.

Solomon you got it reversed. You should've said if you were a straight female, why would you wanna date a guy who said he's not gay anymore.

I missed that episode. I wonder how Bumper felt being on there. If I was Bumper, I would not have guest-starred on some show, in which I was supposed to have been a regular cast member.
Has something like that every happened with another show?

Bumper Robinson has never really toplined a show- almost every series he's been in was in its last season when he came on, or he was a recurring player. He's been around tv for about 20 years now- I remember him from Night Court and Webster. it could well be that he doesn't have what it takes to be a leading man type player, either that or they're just not writing parts for his kind of talent. Jason George is much better suited to play JT than Bumper. He doesn't have enough chemistry with Eve.

I don't think Jason George's character has chemistry with EVE either. Seems to me like a RAPPER would be better suited to play Eve's boyfriend

In a way you may be right about that, but a rapper would throw off the rest of the cast because if i remember right from the first season JT is supposed to be the son of a judge. What rapper could convincingly play an upper middle class character in this type of sitcom? Jason George is inconsequential enough to match Eve's character. I couldn't see someone like Mos Def or Sticky Fingaz being in a show like this.

But Eve is
Trashy
Unclassy
Uneducated
So i thought that a rapper would work-lol

Those are the reasons J. T.'s parents wanted him to break up with Shelly.

Exactly, i wouldn't want someone like Shelly no where near my parents. And on top of being Unclassy, Uneducated, and Trashy, she is also coyote ugly-lol

I thought the Shelly character was a college graduate. I wouldn't say she is any of those adjectives in the series, but she is at times (from the dozen or so episodes I've seen), childish, petty, immature, shallow and materialistic. But I know college educated people in their 20s who are just like her so it's not an unrealistic character.
Anyway its too late to cast a real hood type rapper as her boyfriend because even if they did this show is so predictable you know that he'd only be around for a handful of shows to stir up tension to the point of getting Shelly and JT back together which is exactly what is going to happen sooner or later. A sitcom about a rough neck type guy and his more prim girlfriend would be interesting to see though, like he's a thug with a shady background and her family is terrified of him, but it's a sitcom. That would be interesting to watch.

Shelly went to Design School for 3 years. She made that statement in Pimps Up DivaStyle Down.

I think Jason George is good as J.T. He and Shelly were good for messing around but as a serious partner I agree with J.T's mother. By the way they were a couple on Barbershop so there was some chemistry with them if only to help "bring her acting up".
Bumper did have a lead in a ABC comedy where he played big brother to a little boy named Mystro Harrell ( ithink that was his name) anyway I thing they were orphans and they live in a apartment with some white dude. The cut little boy was suppose to help carry the show but there wasn't much to look at beyond that. He was also co-starred in a drama where he played one of three criminals force to do government work trapping big criminals. It was actual pretty interesting. But he's probably co-star material?

I might've seen about 12 episodes tops of this series- have they ever done any plots around JT's job? I've seen the women at the design house and Nick at the IRS and of course Donanvan at the nightclub, but it would almost appear that JT's work is considered not good material for this type of comedy. Isn't he a physical therapist or something like that?
I believe that Jason George was cast in this specifically because he and Eve had done those Barbershop films together and since Eve has limited acting experience they put her together with someone she felt more comfortable working with.
I still say they could just get rid of her from this show and it wouldn't really make the show any worse.
Natalie is OK but I think that she plays better when her somewhat dimwit of a husband is in it.

Yes, Shelly dislocated her knee while working out with Rita and Shelly finally consented to see J. T. because had fixed it before. She made a date with his boss who was a doctor and to get back at her, J. T. told her she had to wear some orthopedic shoes.

I know it was weird seeing him on there knowing he was the original JT, actually during that episode I was trying to imagine him as JT, I don't know I guess I got use to Jason George cause I couldn't really imagine Bumper as JT. Was it just me or did he have like no speaking lines except in the end. I personally would have liked to see him in a few more episodes also to really see if he and Shelly had the chemistry, cause they weren't alone long enough to really tell.

I agree! I would have like to seen him in a couple of episodes. I tried to imagine him in the part too but like you said, since he hardly said anything made it difficult.
