Ep4: Brother Troubles:
John and Lily are not fond of Tommy's new girlfriend, who is completely rude and totally clueless that she is being rude. Art takes Miles fishing, Miles caughts two fish as Art catchs none and becomes jealous.

Ep5: Rummage Sales:
Marge takes Kate and Lily along with her when she goes to several different rummage sales in search of good bargain. Meanwhile the women are rummage-saling, John and Tommy attempt to fix Art's always-stalling car.

Ep6: Return Of Number One Son:
John and Kate anxiously await the arrival of their eldest son, Kevin. Kevin arrives with news for his family-that he is dropping out of college. Kevin drops his big news during his welcome-home dinner with the entire family. The family is "up in arms" about the new news.

Ep7: Got Room?:
Kevin moves his stuff back into his old bedroom at John and Kate's house. Kevin notices how his parents and grandparents are still uneasy about his decision to drop out of college. Miles tries to have a heart-to-heart with his brother about his future, Kevin brushes Miles off---but later, realizes Miles is right. Lily and Tommy are mistaken are a couple at the local singles bar.

Ep6: My Ex Is Your Handyman:
Marge and Art hire Gary (Lily's ex-hubby) to repair their downstairs bathroom, which upsets Lily (for hiring her ex) and offends John and Tommy (for thinking they can't do it for free). Kate tells John to give Kevin a job at his work, John agrees and soon learns Kevin is a better employee than he would have thought.

Ep7: Men Suck:
Lily becomes angry at all men when she learns her current boyfriend is cheating on her. Kate gets fed-up with Marge constantly calling her "Katey".

Ep8: Kevin's New "Friend":
Kevin introduces his new girlfriend, Erin (Kaley Cuoco) to his parents and Miles, but his grandparents, uncle, and aunt beg to be introduced to Erin. Truth gets out to the family, Erin is only 17 years old (as Kevin is 20 years old). Marge and Art feel Kevin is too old for Erin.

Ep9: Roughing It In The Woods:
John, Tommy, Kevin, and Miles go on their annual camping trip. Art and Marge get on Lily's case about not wanting to reconcile with her ex (who wants to get back together, after he caused the divorce).

Ep10: Sisters And Cell Phones:
John is fed up with Kevin always being on his cell phone talking to Erin, and threatens to take it away if he talks on it for longer than 15 minutes a call. Meanwhile, Kate goes to Mall Of America with her sister, Pam (Katey Sagal). Marge and Lily are jealous that they can't go to Mall Of America with Kate and her sister.

Ep11: Football Game Disasters:
Tommy, John, Art, Kevin, and Miles attend a Cleveland-Cincinnati football. Art gets into it with another elderly man in the stands. Tommy notices a certain blonde cheerleader is flirting with him, Kevin nudges him to go talk to her after the game. Marge goes on a baking spree and bakes several dozens of cookies with Lily and Kate's assistance for Miles's school's bake sale.

Ep12: Reunited Again:
Kevin bumps in with his former longtime girlfriend (before Erin), Sarah (Mischa Barton). Kevin realizes Sarah wants him back, but he is still in love with Erin. Erin becomes worried Kevin will go back to Sarah. John and Kate are debating about going to John's high school reunion, but they end up going to his reunion.

Ep13: Miles's Birthday:
It's Miles's 13th birthday. Kate and John throw him a party for Miles and his friends on a Saturday, then have the family over Sunday for their party for Miles. Tommy and Lily get into a fight over Tommy still talking to Gary frequently. Tommy spills the beans about Gary getting married to his mistress (after Lily won't take him back) and that Tommy will be his best man in his second wedding.

Ep14: Crash Dieting For Marge:
Marge goes on a crash diet, and tries to drag Art into dieting. Art refuses to go on a diet, after his doctor says his weight is fine. Art also learns Marge is not eating very much, and worries about her and gets John, Lily, and Tommy to help him talk some sense into Marge. Erin and Kevin express their feelings to each other-they both love each other---yet Kate feels Kevin is too young to know what true love really is.

Ep15: Cruising Away:
With Art and Marge away on a weeklong cruise in the Bahamas, Kevin decides to have some people come over to his grandparents' house to hangout. The 'some people' turns out to be 40 people. John gets a call from his parents' neighbor saying there is loud music coming from his parents' house and is worried someone broke in. John and Tommy go over to the house, only to find that Kevin and his friends are having a party thing. John is furious with Kevin and breaks up the party.

Ep16: Dr. Phil:
Lily gets the chance to go to speak on Dr. Phil's talk show. Lily invites Kate and Marge to come with her to the Dr. Phil's show. Lily becomes nervous before being able to go on stage (in front of TV). Meanwhile, Miles gets a new puppy-a beagle named Lucky. Miles, Kevin, John, and Tommy soon learn that Art is deathly afraid of dogs. John tries to talk Miles into giving the puppy back.

Ep17: A Strong Bond Between The Two:
Art is all excited to see his visiting niece, Bree (Kelly Ripa). (Bree is Art's younger sister's daughter). Art takes Bree on a tour of the town. Bree tells Art her shocking news: that she is pregnant with her ex-boyfriend's baby, who wants nothing to do with her or the baby. The whole entire family is taken back by Art's response to Bree's shocking news--he is willing to take in a pregnant Bree into his and Marge's home.

Ep18: Move Over, Aunt Marge:
With Bree moving with Art and Marge, things in their home is about to change. Bree's carefree lifestyle clashes with Marge's straightlaced lifestyle. Lily becomes jealous of Art's attention being focused on Bree lately. Kevin learns Erin isn't ready to have sex, after finding out her best friend, Cassie, has become pregnant.

Ep19: Oh, Poor Cassie:
Erin's conversation about Cassie (Allison Munn) being pregnant is overheard by Miles, who thinks Erin is pregnant and tells a furiously concerned John and Kate immediately. Kevin and Erin explain the whole thing to his parents, who become relieved. Tommy, Lily, and Bree go to the singles bar, causing a competition between Lily and Bree-who can get the most phone numbers by flirting and Tommy unwillingly becomes the judge of the childish contest.

Ep20: Abortion Or No:
Cassie drags Erin and Kevin along with her to the abortion clinic, as she plans to get an abortion. While there, Cassie changes her mind and decides to keep the baby. Bree's former boyfriend, Jason (Simon Rex) returns to Bree in hope of reconciling. Bree confesses to the family that she lied--Jason didn't run out on her and the baby, it was her who ran out on him.
