I'm thinking I want to get my belly-button pierced but I think I want to surprise my friends at home. (And not tell my parents cuz they would flip.) So my question, how much does it cost and anyone wanna share their experiences?
On the same kind of note, apporoximately how much does a tattoo cost? I want to get a heart with wings on the small of my back. I appreciate any help.

belly button piercing is the lamest thing in history, trust me, dont do it.
It is just a way for preppy girls to try to look alternative, and it most certainly doesnt work. I'm saying this not to be a dick, but trying to actually be a nice guy. DONT get your belly button pierced.

I've had mine pierced since the beginning of May.
I have a high tolerance for pain, but this just plain killed. And it was only a 14 gauge needle. It hurt for the next few days, but it does go away. They key is not to pick at it. It'll get crusty stuff around it almost daily for the next few months, and yes, it will be nasty and annoy you... but it just means it's healing.
Luckily, mine has never been infected. And don't change the earring for at least 2 months. They say 4 weeks, but you don't want your body to reject it.

Thanks. My friend just got hers done the other day and she said she'd go with me and be my support. I think I'll be ok, if I'm going to get a tattoo I should be able to handle this.

...Just think that when you get old enough to have kids, get pregnant and your belly starts growing your pierced belly button will look 'different'
I know this friend that had a butterfly tatoo put on her stomach(a small tatoo)...Couple yrs after that she got married, and pregnant...Instead of a butterfly it looked like a moth!

I never understood girls who get tattoos on their stomach because like you said when you get pregnant it stretches out and looks like crap. But I figure with a belly button piercing I won't want it anymore once I have kids and it's not permanent so I can just take it out.

I mean, if you got it you gotta wear midriff tops. Not all the time, but if you got it, flaunt it!:)

I think 12/13 is too young to be getting one...but that's JMO...I could understand why your dad had a fit. My sis got hers pierced when she was 15 (that was many years ago) and she had to get permission from BOTH parents before she had it done.

Yeah I'd show it off, just not around my parents. And a lot of my shirts end up showing off my belly button anyway. Wow, that probably sounded really slutty but I am the farthest thing from it.

Unless youre like 12 years old, or go grinding against little boys then you look slutty. But if its a midriff top and its the right time and place to wear it.. its fine.

Well I'm glad y'all don't think it's slutty, hehe.
I got the piercing done today and I really like it, I'm glad I didn't. It didn't even hurt, just like getting my ears pierced.

Yikes... I can't believe that didn't hurt  I just pierced my ear about 10 minutes ago, and that didn't hurt at all, but my belly button just didn't sit too well with me =/

It just felt like a sting and it's kind of sore now but it doesn't hurt.
