It seems to me, since Dave Chappelle is going to appear at the VMAs, and doing VMA commercials, that he is the unoffical host of the VMAs.
Maybe he doesn't want the pressure of being the offical host, and all of the responsibility of being the MC.
I just think when the show starts, Dave Chappelle will go out there, and do the opening monologue, and do some pretape sketches.
