but you just can't get into.

Surely there are artists out there you've really wanted to like, but yet when trying to listen to their music, you just don't "feel" it.

Who are these artists for you?
offhand for me:
Garbage
Radiohead
Coldplay
Anastacia

The Sex Pistols. I know they were the Beatles of punk, but they sounded like a bunch of talentless nimrods who couldn't figure out what the hell they were doing. I just. . .couldn't. . .get into them. :(

I tried to get into good charlotte a few years ago but i couldnt help cringing at the sounds they generated.

The entire pop-punk genre violates the saying "rock and roll ain't noise pollution"

I could get into STP and Pearl Jam, albeit they both are cd's that gather dust, but Soundgarden I never could. That is why I never gave Audioslave a chance, because I hated both bands they came from.

It's basically the gang mentallity, after Nirvana took off, suddenly all these grunge bands were "cool" out of nowhere and we had to catch up with the mainstream over these groups. There were some great bands out of the early 90's grunge movement (Nirvana and Alice In Chains being my top 2) but there were also a lot of bands that were overhyped and not that good. And what sucked was that it was so "cool" to bash metal bands around this time, yet to me, groups like Guns N Roses, Motley Crue and Def Leppard that suddenly were deemed "uncool" practically overnight IMO made better music than many of the bands that supposedly took their place in "coolness".

I admit I didn't like Room For Squares much, but I do think Heavier Things was a much better album, surprisingly it's the one that didn't sell nearly as well and people generally find it less commercial, yet I think Heavier Things is a much more accessable album and the music is better

Though 80's metal bands did fall out of favor after grunge became big, I don't think that it ever became uncool to like Guns N' Roses. When I graduated in 1994 they were still a band that everyone loved. Of course, I don't know how much the taste of high school kids changed after that. And it is probably important to remember that Def Leppard's three releases since 1996 have not been very good. As far as Motley Crue goes, I never liked them.

Because she is fake, it is so obvious. When she is off the stage she wears preppy, almost conservative clothes. But when she performs she wears black and green shirts, spiked bracelets, and waay too much eyeliner. Not to mention she jumps around like an idiot. She even said in an interview "I sing punk music actually" Punk is not something you are supposed dress up like,it is something you feel and actually write about not "co write" which really means maybe writing a few lyrics and hiring writers to help. The point is she is not being herself, she is trying to be Jessica's opposite. I don't think she should be a clone of Jessica, but she shouldn't be so caught up in being the EXACT opposite and singing a totally different genre of music. She should just be herself, I'm sure she would look alot better.

So what if she dresses differently when she performs. everyone dresses up to look good for a special event, maybe she wants to look like that. maybe she likes both styles, which is, believe it or not, possible. I hate it when people call others posers just because they dress both preppy and punky, it makes no sense whatsoever. She did say she sings punk music, but i find it very unnecessary to gain a low opinion on celebrities just because they say quotes like that in an interview. Chances are they were misunderstood. maybe she meant pop-punk, or was even mistaken. She never said she was a punk or what punk means.

Nevertheless, you can't call her a poser because of what she wears. DAMN LABEL ELITISM TO THE DEPTHS OF HELL.

What Ashlee wears on stage is a 'costume', which is what Britney wears on stage along with Christina, Beyonce, etc. Just because Ashlee is 'punk' music, doesnt mean she has to dress like it all the time. Clothes dont make who you are. Anyways, I consider Ashlee 'edgy' pop, not punk, but I like it anyways.

I remember around spring 95 when it was VERY cool to bash Guns N Roses (I vividly remember someone telling me "you STILL like these guys?" when looking through my cd folder on the bus to school and noticed Use Your Illusion in there). I do think times have changed and they've become "classic rock"

people don't know when to freaking lay off the word "poser". EVERYONE is a "poser" going by their standards...i've never met anyone who just sticks with one style. for crying out loud just shut up and let people do and wear what they want.

I think I'd like Usher better if he didn't have this Michael Jackson-size ego. Plus, his current music is pretty bland IMO, he shoulda stuck with the Neptunes

I think his current music is better than "My Way" but not as great as "8701"....As far as his ego, I think some poeple get him wrong sometimes, it's just that he's very proud of his success and isn't afraid to let people know. Sometimes though, people say he talks trash about Justin Timberlake and others but in a recent interview he said:

"Do you see Justin Timberlake as competition?"

Usher: Nah, not really. I'm out doing my thing. And you know, Justin is doing his thing. Much success to my man for having such success on his first album. It takes a lot to make it this long in the industry, and I'm so happy and fortunate to have had all my fans for so long and to actually still be able to be creative. Here it is, four albums deep. Justin has to continue to do that. I encourage it, I encourage it 100 percent.
