Whats So Funny Paula Was A Great Singer Her Music Was Huge And She Was On MTV All The Time Forever Your Girl Was A Masterpiece I Always Thought When Paula Came Out She Was The Goddess Of Soul Because She Had Such Depth To Her Voice But I Also Liked Janets Voice Paula And Jennifer Would Have An Awesome Duet If They Sang Together Because Paula Was The Original Jennifer Stop Hating

1.) You don't have to capitalize every word; only proper nouns and the beginning of every sentence.

2.) Speaking sentences, try grabbing one of these: ' , . ! ?

You'll be thankful you did.

3.) Just because Paula Abdul was big on MTV in the late-'80s/early-'90s doesn't mean she was good. Her voice is awful. Singing wasn't her first career choice and it shows.

4.) Jennifer Lopez sucks.

OK, for starters, PLEASE USE PERIODS IN YOUR SENTENCES!!

Second, I have nothing against Paula, Britney or Jennifer(except that I think Britney & Jen are a bit over-exposed), but to compare them to Barbra Streisand--well, there's just no comparison. It's just not done.

As for Jen being better than our 'has-been' artists. I'd be curious how long it will take before J.Lo is a 'has-been'.

Michael Jackson IS better then Elvis. The man's a nutcase, but he does have talent. Doesn't anyone remember a little album back in the early 1980's called Thriller? Elvis never came close to creating music at the level of quality that Jackson did on Thriller or even Off The Wall.

Why is Dannii Minogue on the list, but not her far more talented sister?

And I am also surprised to see she is in her early 20s, I thought something more like 12.

Also, Michelle Branch is the greatest female vocalist, she sings and plays the guitar like an angel, yet she is absent from your list. I think the reason no one voted is because no one's favorite female singer is on there. ( I dont mean that in the sense that Michelle is everyone's female singer, I mean that in the sense that the options suck)

Off the Wall rocks.

But no way is Michael Jackson better than Elvis.

Look at career stamina and I'm not talking Michael as a child until adulthood because that is not the same.

Elvis lost it and got into drugs but Michael TOTALLY lost it, disfiguring himself, playing cutesy with little boys, and releasing crappy albums. All the while pretending how he can't understand how the world disapproves of his wackjob lifestyle.

Yes, he touches little boys.

If you're looking at career stamina, you have to look at when Michael performed as a child, since one can argue that that had an affect on him eventually "totally losing it" as you say. Elvis wasn't internationally known when he was 13. And you said career stamina, not the extracurricular stuff. I don't really get into saying person A is "better" than person B, but I'm by far a bigger Michael Jackson fan than I am Elvis. He's (MJ) an underrated talent at songwriting and producing and can dance his ass off. It's unfortunate that the extracurricular stuff is there at all, in addition to the fact that it's taken the focus away from his talent.

I think Michael Jackson's music up through Bad is better than anything Elvis did.

Elvis was overrated. I've said this before on this board, so I'm going to just be lazy and quote myself:

Originally posted by AKA on 02/14/2004
Elvis Presley became big because he was one of the first rock performers deemed "safe" by the adults. At the time, many people in this country were inwardly racist, and real rock pioneers such as Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, and Little Richard were being refused radio airplay in many parts of the U.S. They were later overshadowed by a handsome white guy with a lip curl and oodles of sex appeal performing their songs on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Now, do I like Elvis? Yes.

Do I think he was talented? At first, but he burned out after the mid '60s.

Does he deserve the accolades he gets? Yeah, but some of his more rabid fans need to tone it down a tad. :)

Was Elvis a rock trailblazer? Certainly not. He was just one of the first rockers to make it into the living rooms of America.

I think the first white guys to make a real impression in the rock industry were Carl Perkins (who, incidentally, wrote "Blue Suede Shoes") and later Jerry Lee Lewis and Buddy Holly.

YES, MJ is a freak now, YES, MJ hasn't really done anything good in at least a decade. Who cares? It's his work from when he was in his 20's which is why he gets such esteem... Just like when people think Elvis, they think of his 50's and early 60's (and a few latter moments) work. Nobody thinks of fat jelly donut eating Vegas Elvis when they think of his legacy, so why should child molesting white criminal noseless baby-danging MJ taint the legacy of what he once was?

Dannii is Kylie's younger sister. I believe that Kylie was born in 1968 and Dannii came along in 1971. I personally perfer Kylie over Dannii anyday, what I've heard of Dannii's wasn't very good. IMO, of course.

because you're acting just like her. The other people who made fun of her realize that MJ IS a legend. He may be a freak, but that putting him in the same sentence as Elvis isn't quite as ridiculous as putting Paula in the same sentence as Aretha. You may think Elvis is better, but you think people who prefer MJ are stupid, when the fact is, a lot of people actually do think MJ is the superior artist, and he's been around long enough that it's okay to consider him a legend. It's not like someone is saying Usher or Justin or somebody new is better than Elvis. MJ's been around since 1969... he's been around long enough that he's up there.

His last #1 hit was in 1995 if I recall correctly (I think Butterflies may have hit #1 on r&b though), and Invincible was a #1 album in 2001.

I'm sorry I don't take any child singer seriously.

Do you actually listen to music sung by a person under 10 on a regular basis?

Well, I know I don't. And I think The Jackson Five have some great stuff, but I won't listen to it other than the radio- maybe I can't empathize with a 7 year old.

Michael Jackson had flashes of brilliance that put him above the rest, but he still was limited by his freakish nature- it corrupted all his decisions after Thriller.

Elvis was a pill popping nut, but his stamp on America was so imbedded that you can't put Michael Jackson above him.
And Quincy Jones made Michael. I think any lawyer with a tamborine could have made Elvis.

And if Elvis liked little boys, they would have crucified him.
I love how MJ is so shocked about what is more than apparent.

Do you actually listen to music sung by a person under 10 on a regular basis?

Can I put Chuck Berry above him?

Michael Jackson put his own stamp on America too. And no, I don't listen to music by people under 10 years old on a regular basis. Technically Michael was 11 when "I Want You Back" hit but be that as it may, he's been a public figure since then and I don't understand discounting that part of his career when it no doubt had lead to where he is now. Knock child performers, but arguably the two best known, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, have grown up to be exceptionally talented adults. You talk about career, meaning the music, the performance, etc. and not any pill popping or child molestation, yes, I can put MJ above Elvis.

I personally have never liked Michael Jackson's music . I did once enjoy the Jackson Five but once Michael went solo I lost interest. I don't discount that he was huge especially in the 80's but I'll put Elvis over him any day.

even tho I liked Body Language, I liked Dannii's NEON NIGHTS better than BL.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and state that I dont like either Elvis or Micheal Jackson.

It is quite possible that MJ was more talented, though Elvis was more appealing. Many of Elvis's songs were covers, and I think he was just what America was looking for at the time, he just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

I think he had the balls to make it big, but he never would have got THAT big if it wasnt exactly what America wanted at the time, situation played alot into it.

The greatest solo performer of all time is Bob Dylan with contest, he is better than Elvis or MJ.

Actually though, I like Trent Reznor more, I would say he is definately more talented. I dont think most people realize that Nine Inch Nails is one guy.

There's a band out there called Self. It's mainly just a one man band, like Trent Reznor. But that's the only comparison I'll make. Their music is very different.

Also, I think a lot of people need to really consider taking a class in the history of modern music, or the history of music period. Or even just buy a damn book on the topic. I think there's a lot to be learned, and it's not opinions.

You can also catch that on Behind the Music.

In order for an artist to be a "has been" don't they have to be virtually forgotten and have zero record sales now, like Leif Garret? You don't know the meaning of the word "has been." You need to educate yourself on music just a tad more.
