Faith Ford Gets New Daughter on 'Hope'


Faith Ford is getting a new daughter on her ABC sitcom "Hope and Faith."

Megan Fox will replace Nicole Paggi who in the first season played Hope's (Ford) oldest child, Sydney, a 16-year-old beauty who rebels at her mother's authority but idolizes her Aunt Faith (Kelly Ripa).

While rare, it is not unprecedented for kids' roles on family sitcoms to be recast during the series' run. Shows that have gone through such casting changes include ABC's "My Wife & Kids" and "Roseanne."

Fox, whose credits include the feature "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" and the WB Network's comedy series "The Help," will next be seen in the ABC Family original movie "Crimes of Fashion" starring Kaley Cuoco.

Why did they replace her? I thought she was actually good and this new one isn't even blonde or looks 16.

I liked the old girl better than the new one, but I still hope that Hope and Faith gets canned. I hate that show.

I don't like the new Sydney...she looks older than Kelly Ripa and isn't convincing at all :rolleyes: ...they also should've kept the old theme song

Then why make it a point to still watch and come to the Hope and Faith board?

I'm guessing the real reason why Nicole Paggi was replaced was becuase her real age( 27!!) was revealed. I personally don't see the big deal since Amy Davidson from 8 Simple Rules is 25 and playing a 16 yr. old!

Megan Fox is actually younger than Nicole. She's 18!

I thought Nicole Paggi looked so much like Faith Ford. Meghan Fox looks nothing like her, she's not even blonde.

I don't see the big deal of the girl who played her really being 27. Teens are always played by people older. The good thing about her was that she didn't look to old. It's annoying when shows get someone who looks totally different.

I like the old sidney so much better. She was way funnier and looked the right age. The new one isn't that funny and looks nothing like the old one.

I love Nichole Paggi! She was SO great! It's not that I have anything against Meghan Fox...it's just the I don't think she fits this role and I REALLY don't like how they've made her look. She looks/acts like such a slut! It's actually embarassing to watch her!

I liked the old Sydney better but i have got used to the new sydney now, even though she is now 20. I also preferred the old theme tune but have got used to the second one. I just realy started watching Hope & Faith on the WE channel (don't laugh..I'm a man....lol. I love Kelly Ripa). But anyway, I have to say that not only do I see why they re-cast the role of Sydney, I loved Megan Fox in the role. No, she didn't have blonde hair....but if you ask me, there was a little TOO much blond hair on that show...and in all fairness, the father had dark hair, so why couldn't his oldest daughter??? And one person made a comment that the "new" Sydney looked nothing like the old one....if they wanted an actress that looked like the old one, then what would be the point of recasting? I think Megan Fox did a great job...it was like you could see that she looked up to Faith (Ripa) as far as clothes and she was obviously more similar to her aunt than her mother personality wise, but she didn't worship her or idolize her, because face it....she's sixteen, and though Faith was immature, she was still an adult over thirty, and deemed somewhat uncool in the eyes of any sixteen year old. I like what Megan did with the role...and in my opinion, Nicole looked too young and short for the part.
