Second Season
Episodes
(Family Rules was never cancelled in 1999. Nate, 39, is the widowed father. Phil, 37, is the neighbor and Nate's best friend. Hope, 19, is the eldest and most popular daughter with the boys. Ann, 16, is the smart, wise, and responsible daughter. C.J., 14, is the tomboyish and thrill-seeking daughter. Lucy, 13, is the youngest daughter, who looks up to her older sisters. Jason, 17, is Ann's rebellious boyfriend. Nate and Phil are basketball coaches for an university, Hope is a freshman in college, Ann is a sophomore in high school (10th grader), C.J. is an 8th grader, Lucy is a 7th grader, and Jason is a junior in high school (11th grader).)
Ep1: Perfect Days Are Behind Us:
Nate gets a feeling one of his daughters are up to no good. Nate's right! C.J. claimed to be at a girls only slumber party, but was out past curfew with a guy friend of hers. Hope gets settled into her dorm. Hope meets her roommate-Sarah (Marla Sokoloff). Sarah and Hope instantly become friends.
Ep2: My So-Called Sane Father:
C.J. is asked to bring her "boyfriend" over to meet her dad. C.J. fears her dad is up to no good. C.J. brings over Brian, Nate asks him a series of personal questions. Phil meets a girl at a bar and they go out on a date.
Ep3: Meeting New People:
Phil and his "girlfriend", Jennifer set Nate up on a blind date with April Mason (Courtney Cox), who use to babysit Hope as a toddler and Ann as an infant. Ann decides to not study for an Algebra exam and to go out with Jason. Jason decides to take their relationship to the next level, as Ann lets him.
Ep4: Back From College:
Hope comes back from college for the weekend to find Jason and Ann in bed together. Hope freaks and doesn't know if she should tell Nate. Nate brings April home to meet the girls. Ann bribes Hope not to tell Nate. Phil and Jennifer go out on their third date and have horrible service at the restaurant.
Ep5: Dropping Out?:
Hope decides college isn't for her, after learning she has failed three of her last tests. Hope decides to drop out of college, but is scared on how Nate will react. April offers to take Lucy and C.J. to a spa resort for the whole day to "bond". C.J. becomes instantly bored and is insulted after hearing someone who works there tell April that she (CJ) needs alot of work done.
Ep6: Awaiting Disaster:
Ann fears she may be pregnant, with Jason and Hope accompaning her in the waiting for the results of a pregnancy test. Nate, April, Phil, and Jennifer go as undercover to "spy" on a rival basketball team to watch how they play, so when their team plays them they can stop them. C.J. and Lucy walk in on Jason, Hope, and Ann waiting the results. Ann tells the two why they are waiting. The pregnancy tests' results are both negative. Ann and Jason are relieved.
