These are the ones I have some liking for. There are 2 songs listed for 1966 though.

I didn't know the Woody Woodpecker theme was a #1 single. Interesting.

Does anyone know if any songs reflective of Independence Day were hits at this time of the year? Songs like Yankee Doodle Dandy or God Bless America?

'cept chronological, apparently, though I'm confused as to how there were two number one singles in the same week in 1958 and 1966.

This song is serious competition with "My Sharona" by the Knack and "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" by Rupert Holmes as the worst number-one song of 1979, a year that saw Three Mile Island, the rise of Khomeini and Margaret Thatcher, and Donna Summer duetting with Streisand! :barf:

You're absolutely right, WebWarrior.:) You should go to this website http://www.reelradio.com/gifts/atf070476.html and listen to part 1 of the special countdown featuring #1 songs from 1937-1959. For part 2, go to another site http://www.reelradio.com/dp/index.html#atf070476b and listen to the conclusion of the special featuring more #1 songs from 1960-1976.:) Enjoy! By the way, this special featuring a station ID which is WPIX-FM (not WPIX-TV which is a local NYC station for WB) including the news as described in the first part of the special featuring a news sounder at the bottom of the hour featuring a sample from "Shaft" and a commercial for Nathan's hot dogs. As I mentioned WPIX-FM was a top 40 station which is now currently WQCD now plays smooth jazz.
