In tonight's ep, The Good Deed,Beaver lets a stranger in the house while his parents are away.

Let me tell ya'll somethng ..If I ever did that when I was a kid,my father would have chased me with his belt. *&^%$#

I was told to NEVER let anyone in the house when they weren't home. Period!!! Or else! And you know what that meant right. You got it!
The ole chase around the block with the belt. Ouch!

Now our Beaver not only lets him in,but the ol' guy gets something to eat and drink and he takes a bath,and he takes Ward's suit and shoes et'el
But naturally ...it alwaays turns out just fine at the end for the Beaver.

That's yet another very good LITB episodic adventure. :)

The old man ("Mr. Jeff") in that ep. is played by Frank Ferguson, who was in tons of TV shows & films, including several roles (circa 1960s) in The Andy Griffith Show. In fact, he was in the debut episode of "TAGS", as the man who marries "Rose", thereby creating the opening for Aunt Bee to come and live with Andy and Opie.

"Sorry, boys...my fire insurance policy has expired." (Therefore Mr. Jeff could not "eat any fire" for Beav and Gilbert. :))

My butt would have been blistered too! To my suprise both Ward and June were very calm about it! I would have walloped the kid with every inch of his life! While it was a safer world back then I think the writers should have been more realistic with their writing on this episode. I mean for pete sake June walked in their bedroom and found it a reck and she didn't even react the way most would have. I would have screamed from the rooftops and then I would have hunted the guy down and let him have it! Talk about invading someone's privacy. The first thing a woman would think about is...oh my god they know the size of my unmentionables!!!:eek: :lol:

Yes!... I have seen him on tv many times myself.
I liked the way he payed Ward back for his stuff too.

I couldn't believe the way Ward and June reacted either Desilou.

They sure took it pretty well,if you ask me. wow!

Just a thought on the subject,but I wonder how many 'real life' situations are happening in today's world like that,with so many children being left at home alone,especially after school,with parents working and all.
I'd like to s some police reports of what is really happening out there.
The newspapers don't print those articles too often.
I'll bet they don't always conclude in a 'happy ending' huh?

I have a feeling that we would be shocked to know the answer to that. As a kid, I was NEVER left home alone---and I was a child in the early to mid 60s. It wasn't until I was about 13 that I was left home alone for any length of time.

My parents both worked Boomer,and were pretty strict about us staying in the house after school til they got home from their jobs.
It was only about an hour,and my older sister and I did our chores and homework together.

If they had to go out,we were watched by my older cousin,who lived down the street. That was til age 10 I think.
