Slamming of doors.

Boy,could those two kids slam some doors?

Almost every early episode they were shown slamming their doors,while comming in or going out. Especially when they were mad at each other.

If I was their father, I would ...(Bleep) :lol:

Ward was always tightening those door hinges,wasn't he?
All that slamming made 'em pretty loose. LOL
Not to mention repairing all those electric cords from the lamps and toaster that his beloved wife June pulled out by the cord,instead of the plug. :talk: :wave:

It's funny you mention all the repairs that Ward made with the hinges and cords, comet. I was always told by my dad and grandpa that things sure arn't made as good as they were back in the day. Like June I always pull the plugs out by the cord but I don't have to repair them.:lol:

On a related topic, it is funny to see Ward fixing things that people would simply just throw away---like a lamp or a toaster. Back then, however, toasters were more expensive than they are today. In fact, many things we take now for granted are actually cheaper now than they were in the 1950s. Televisons, for example, were a lot more money back in the 50s and 60s than they are today.

My pop was just like Ward,fixin' stuff all the time boy.:lol:

I'm from the 'old' school,and when I see something that can be fixed,I do it. I hate waste!
I can't believe the stuff people throw out in their trash sometimes.
I don't make a habit of going through other peoples trash,but...
I found a VCR once and it worked just fine. All I needed was a new remote for it. I bought one for $5.
Another time I found a 3 speed floor fan,and it worked after I oiled it.
It was like new Boomer.
Oh well,that's life I guess. Folks just want to buy new stuff all the time with that ole' credit card it seems.(LOL)

It really suprises me that things like TV's and toasters were more expensive back then. I can see that it might have seemed like that since people didn't make near as much money as they do today. Could it be because the TV was considered a "newer" invention back then? It does make sense that as technology advanced it got more expensive,just as it does nowdays. My dad still swears up and down that things made back then were made so much stronger and better so they lasted longer. I wish they were made like that now because I can't repair anything!

You're right again Boomer. And not only that,but like my wife just mentioned..."Everything seems to be made out of plastic these days!"
There was a lot of stuff made out of durable materials and metals etc.

They seem to want stuff to breakdown just after the ole' so called "warranty" runs out! ;-(

And not only that ,but they want to sell a "Service Policy" on that junk ahead of time. Ugh!

LOL! I enjoyed reading folks' comments regarding appliances stuff..

Hey Comet97, I have a whole attic full of "neat junk" covering several decades. LOL! When I sold my parents home after my mom passed away many years ago, I kept only the stuff that was of sentimental value to me. One of the items was a console b/w Magnavox television/radio/phono combination my father bought back in '65. The tv doesn't work anymore, but the radio and hifi still works. I played many a 45 and album on that thing!

I remember the days when a tv repairman came in the house to replace a tube in the set. Now a days we just buy a new.

I'd hold onto that Magnavox Boomer. They say they're coming back,because

I bought a new vacuum cleaner fo $80 bucks only 3 months ago and it doesn't work anymore! The vacuum my mom had when I was growing up,hung around for 15 years or so!
