Have you heard that Madonna has changed her name to Esther? I am not sure, if she will record under the name Esther or still record under the name Madonna.

Esther is not a cool name. I don't why she is doing? is she trying to be like Prince?, who changed his name to a symbol, and changed it back.

I know Madonna--er, ESTHER is trying to go Jewish American Princess on us, but that's the silliest name someone like her can change her name to.

You think automatically of:

people are blowing this out of proportion, she never said she was changing her name!! On 20/20, she said it perfectly... Esther is her Hebrew name, she's still Madonna, Esther just is her Hebrew name.

She really annoys me with her Kaballah obsession tho... how many years ago was it when she was all "I'm a Catholic"?

Tina Fey put it bluntly on SNL Weekly Update; "Ashton Kutcher announced this week he's now studying The Kaballah... which proves what we knew all along, he's just a trendy attention-starved celebrity"

That is what I asked in my opening post. Is she her professional name still Madonna? I was pretty sure she was professional still called Madonna, because she is touring under the name Madonna.

And I think she is not that stupid, after over 20 years of her fans use to one name, and just change it.

I know Prince changed his name, but he did it for legal reasons, and athletes have done it. But that does not work in the music business for long time established artists.

You know, I whole heartedly support ANYBODY's religious beliefs but I think it can get to a point where religion dominatinates a persons life TOO much sometimes.

I heard Madonna preached to her fans at one of her gigs and they were pretty ticked off...is that true? If so I think she's going a little too far. I don't like anyone who tries to push their beliefs on others.

I'm still a Madonna (or Esther? :p) fan but I think this religion kick she's on could be her downfall if she isn't careful.

You didn't know that? Yeah that was Prince. He changed his name from Prince to the symbol on June 7 1993 his 35th birthday. He was known as the Artist or the Artist formally know as Prince.

He changed his name for legal reasons, because his estranged record label Warner Brothers records owned the rights to the name Prince. He changed his name back to Prince in May 2000 when his WB contract expired.

And about Madonna preaching, she was not preaching religion. Some of her fans were upset she was preaching her anti war beliefs at her shows.

She can call herself Madonna, Material girl, or Aunt Esther, but I will always know her as "that skanky slut".

well, I'd rather hear Madonna preaching her anti-war opinions than the way she's trying to convert her fans to her trendy celebrity cult (for people who bought A-level tickets to her concert... they get free copies of The Kaballah)

I'm glad she wasn't preaching religion but preaching anything at a concert is bad. I'm anti-war (but NOT anti-troops...there's a big difference there, folks :)) but I'd never use a concert to preach that. Concerts are supposed to be entertaining and fun...if Esther wants to preach about things she should just stick to doing it on her records like she always has. People don't go to concerts to have someone else's beliefs rammed down their throats, especially when they paid good prices for tickets. I would've been ticked off, too

You got it, dude!

So her name is Esther Ritchie now?

Say, if Kabbalah doesn't work, TAFKABT (The Artist Formally Known As Boy Toy) can always try Mormonism. Think about - you get to hang out with Donny Osmond and Gladys Knight, drink carbonated apple cider on New Year's Eve, stay home with your family on Monday nights, send your kids to a third world country to preach the Book of Mormon, and look forward to progressing to a higher state of being in the next life. Plus, your spiritual leader is a fellow named "Gordon Hinckley!" :D

I'm a huge Madonna fan that no one can change her name from Madonna to Ester. I still like Madonna very much.:)
