I notice there's generally two camps of Metallica fans... old Metallica (Kill Em All through And Justice For All) and new Metallica (everything since Load) fans, the only album that seems to bond the two is the self-titled 1991 album. Which do you prefer, and why?

I admit I much prefer the 80's Metallica... I love 1980's heavy metal, and I think these guys were brilliant with albums like Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets and And Justice For All... whereas the latter stuff they've done just hasn't really been my cup of tea, and I also lost a lot of respect for Lars over the whole Napster deal... but I do think pre-Black Album (tho that cd has a lot of great stuff too) Metallica is far better than the latter stuff.

What about you?

I think all of their music is great but i like kill 'em all through ...and justice for all better. everything since load hasn't sounded as heavier, they should start staying with their roots.

I love everything by Metallica except Load and Reload. St. Anger is okay, but it could be better IMO. Lars needs to shut his mouth. I hope they go back to their thrashy roots someday.
I became a fan with the Black Album, but I love their '80s stuff a lot better.
