Which sitcom would you say had the most unlikeable lead character? I'd have to go with "Action". Peter Dragon was such an ass hole that I actually didn't feel sorry for him when he died. Brilliant show though.

I never saw Action, but I heard the lead was very amoral/manipulative etc.

Dennis Leary played a cop who had some moral issues in the ABC sitcom The Job.

Dabney Coleman played a real creep in Buffalo Bill in 1983-84.

I guess it can be argued that Archie Bunker wasn't a very nice guy, even though when push came to shove, he could be decent.

depends on the context of unlikeable. If we encountered the characters in real life, or how the actors played the parts?

Brian Kinney (played by Gale Harold) from Queer As Folk would have to be at the top of the list. He is manipulative, conniving, extremely slutty, will sell out for a dollar and loves nobody but himself, and he has always tried to ruin any happiness his friends may have... but Gale plays the character with so much charisma that you love the character at the same time you hate him

animated, but while the character is hilarious, Cartman on South Park would be pretty unlikable if he was a real-life character. The kid hates Jews and adores Adolf Hitler, will go to any length to make fun of Butters (such as pretending to be a robot and will lock him in a bomb shelter for a week), stole stem cells to put on a pizza recipe, and probably the worst thing he ever did was have Scott Tenorman's parents killed and grinded up into meat to put in a chili recipe that Scott wound up eating, lol. But... Cartman is HYSTERICAL and many people say he's the animated Archie.
