The M*A*S*H episode "Death Takes A Holiday" is one of my favorite episodes of that series. Everything about that episode just clicked. It was incredible.

One of my favorite episodes of The Odd Couple is about Felix's "deceased" pet bird. Since Oscar feels responsible for the bird's apparent demise, he agrees to pay for a funeral service. There's a scene with the funeral director where he asks how many mourners are expected to attend:

Felix: "Well, there's the doctor... and the Pidgeon sisters...."
Funeral Director: "Pidgeon Sisters?"
Oscar: "They're PEOPLE! They're PEOPLE!!!"

Whos The Boss?- A Farewell To Nick-Sam's grandfather dies.
Everybody Loves Raymond- quite a few- I Wish I Were Gus - Ray's uncle dies. Pet Cemetary- Ally's pet hamster dies. Who's Next?- A friend of the Barones died.
Charmed- All Hell Breaks Loose Prue, one of the main characters, is killed off.

Gimme A Break - Dealing with the chief's death (Dolph Sweet died that previous season). The first time I saw the episode was about a year after losing my grandmother and father. It was hard watching that episode because it hit home.

8 Simple Rules - The Goodbye episode. Well done episode.

My favorite "death episodes" are the following:

Laverne and Shirley: #104 "Why Did The Fireman ...", in which a fireman, with whom Laverne fell in love, died while fighting a fire (and saved lives in the process!)

The Waltons: #85 "The Loss", in which Calico, the Walton cat, died; #134 "The First Casualty", in which Erin's boyfriend G. W. Haines is killed in combat training; #162 "Day of Infamy", in which Curt Willard (Mary Ellen's husband) dies during the attack on Pearl Harbor (only to show up in Florida as a different person a few episodes later)

The Wonder Years: #1 "Pilot", where Winnie's brother is killed in Vietnam; #43 "Goodbye", where Kevin's math teacher dies over the weekend

I just never understood why that last phrase by Florida in that episode is still remembered. DAMM DAMM DAMM. Especially when she wasn't saying it to be funny.

Saved by the Bell: Running Zack - Zack's mentor died
Slater's Friend - Slater's pet lizard died.

Isn't there an episode in Mad About You where someone dies? ...I maybe mistaken....it's been a while since I've seen an episode.

2 I remember distinctly were both from Soap--

Elaine gets shot in the doorway by a bullet meant for Danny and she dies in Danny's arms.

Also, when Jessica dies.

In Roseanne, the episode where Roseanne's & Jackie's dad dies, and Rosie's talking to him in his coffin before she shuts the coffin. That part really gets to me

I also remember an episode of All in the Family where a friend of Edith's--who was a cross-dresser--dies after getting beat up on the street. Great performance by Jean Stapleton.

In the 'All in the Family' episode "Edith's Final Respects," Edith is the only mourner at a funeral home visitation for her Aunt Rose and spends most of the episode talking to Rose's body in the casket.

I have to say I'll never forget it. I think it, honestly, was just way Esther Rolle delivered it. It wasn't meant to be funny. Florida had not really dealt with her anger and frustration and it finally got to her. I thought it was such a powerful moment. A scene that will never be forgotten, I think.

Archie Bunker's Place - "Archie Alone" Parts 1 & 2. Showed Carroll O' Connor in a different role other than comedy, and he performed it very well.

In the final episode, Paul's dad (and Murray the dog) die(s).

Buffy is LOADED with these

Episode 29: Passion. Angelus kills Jenny Calender
Episode 34: Becoming Pt. 2. In order to save the world, Buffy sacrifices the good-again Angel and he gets sucked into the pits of hell.
Episode 93/94: I Was Made To Love You/The Body. Buffy's mother dies
Episode 100: The Gift. Buffy herself dies
Episode 119: Seeing Red. In a fit of rage after getting defeated the previous night, the season's villian Warren shoots Buffy in her backyard, who survives, but a bullet ricochets and kills Tara.
Episode 120: Villians. In retaliation for Tara's murder, Willow turns to dark magic and tortures/skins Warren.
Episode 129: Conversations With Dead People. Series recurring character (since season 2) Jonathan gets stabbed to death.
Episode 144: Chosen (series finale). Anya is a casualty of the final battle, and Spike ends up turning to dust when wearing an amulet, sacrificing himself and destroy all the demons in Sunnydale, as well as Sunnydale itself.

I don't think any other show has had as many key characters get killed off during it's run, even tho Angel (which is a spinoff anyways) comes close.
