View Full Version : Possible Controversy: Diana's Last Song

ive read everywhere on IDF about technical problems with Diana's last performance (Don't Cry Out Loud). This is very wrong
Diana was interviewed on an Atlanta station about her problems in "Don't Cry Out Loud." She said that she couldn't hear the music and tried to tell the producers (or whoever behind stage), but they just ignored her and continued with the song. She went on to say that she had to walk around throughout the song to try to find a good signal.
As for the judges comments, she wanted to explain the situation, but her mic was cut off and the camera was switched off of her.
posted by Allie on the KCMB:
My friend Janet was at the rehearsal for the finale today (she's a Fantasia fan keep in mind) but she told me that something happened that no one knows about but the people that were in the rehearsal .. she told me so I HAVE to share because I can't BELIEVE this .. it's regarding Diana DeGarmo.
Janet told me that during rehearsal Diana's last song "Don't Cry Out Loud" was PERFECT and she nailed it. Everyone was in awe. But the minute she stepped on that stage after her first 2 songs to perform it LIVE they changed up the song mojuluation on her and it went flat and Diana started freaking out. They also made the song longer .. they didn't TELL her and they changed it up on NATIONAL TELEVISION .. LIVE! They also planned during certain parts in the song where Diana fell flat because of this to turn up the volume so it was made noticeable.
Janet told me after she performed, Diana's mom told her this and John Steven's mom and Carmen Rasmussen's mom commented on this as well (since they all were also at the rehearsal).
before reading this, it did look like something was wrong. Diana looked very confused, and the microphone volume level seemed extremely higher than normal. hmm. just an observation

Gee... I wonder why.
They did this last year with Clays 'Vincent.' Adding a line right before he's supposed to go on, thus making him forget that line.

I watched that part of the tape after I read what you posted. She did look upset, like she was about to cry or something. Randy said there was something wrong with the melody or something was messed up, and she said "Yeah it's hard to hear up here sometimes." Paula realized there was a technical problem too, but was like "Ohwell." And Simon, didn't want to admit that it was the producers or whatever. If you notice Diana's mom isn't really smiling like usual when Diana finished that song. How could she be telling the producers there is a problem though while she is singing? If they did that on purpose I will be so mad. She better have a chance to explain on tv what really happened, even though it is too late now because the votes are in.

Sounds like just an excuse to me, and anyway, it would have looked bad if she had tried to explain herself away at the end of the song...

Yes that's right, they did love Fantasia, thanks for repointing that out.:) Not sure what that had to do with what I said...but yeah...all that I was talking about was that it wouldnt have looked good if Diana had tried to stand there and explain why she didnt sound good on her last song...what the hell are you talking about?
Diana fans are the bitches. They comment on and on about how they think Diana is getting a raw deal. HELL NO, PEOPLE! Diana is not as good as Fantasia, therefore Fantasia's talent is going to surpass Diana's and it will seem as though Diana is getting treated wrong.
Diana fans annoy the hell out of me.

I'm sorry. One thing I hate is when people stereotype fanbases (I'm a big soap fan, and I know all about it).
Let me rephrase...
Some Diana fans annoy the hell out of me.

I agree! I just wanted to say that there was a problem with the mic in Di's last song , she just said so on Entertainment Tonight.

This is so dumb. We all know Fantasia's gonna win tonight, regardless of the votes. She's the judges favorite, and if she doesn't win, everyone working for American Idol will be pissed off. It's like last year again....of course they mess up the person they don't want to win...oh come on, isn't it just a little TOO ironic that Clay had technical problems with one of his songs during the final performance night, and Diana did too? Because if I remember correctly, Ruben was the judges' favorite, just like Fantasia is this year. Geez, and they say they're fair. Riiiiiiiight.

Oh, come on...so it's the producers who made Fantasia win? Could it possibly be that Fantasia won, fairly, because she to many people gave the best performance last night, and because people think she's unique and talented, instead of it being some conspiracy?

im not saying these are for sure, but these are just some thoughts
-they mightve done something to Diana's last song. pretty sure they did.
-the judges were slobbering on Fantasia to no end. i mean, yeah like who you want, but dont say stuff like "it was a one-sided competition. Fantasia deserves it" and stuff everywhere you go, ya know?
-for some reason, i was fishy about the judges choice songs. first off, i know that Jasmine shouldve definitely gone for sure (i mean i even wanted her to go), but Paula chose a lame song for her... and Randy didnt choose a great song for Diana either, however Simon chose a great one for Fantasia. i know im just blowing this out of proportion, but still an observation.
-and lastly... the single. it was definitely made for Fantasia. its a very gospel-like song, and Diana's not that. hopefully when she releases a single, it'll be "Dont Cry Out Loud", without the technical difficulties ;)
-ooo also, compare her and clay. clays song was tinkered with last year also. hm.

Well, they're judges, they're suppose to give their opinions on who they think is better, if they didnt do that, what would they be there for? And I believe the single was written before they knew who exactly was going to be in the top 2, so it isnt obviously written for Fantasia. I believe Fantasia simply got the most votes, and that's why she won. Diana will have a successful career hopefully, Im sure a lot of her fans will buy her cd when she puts one out...

as a singer you have to be prepared for technical difficulties. I have sang on stages in which the monitors did not work ..the microphone shorted out....the music just quit...the cd playing the music had scratches...what you do is..
1. act professionally ...dont complain and work your way through it.
IF you are truly a fan of DIANA's you will just cheer her on with the rest of her career because no matter how much you complain and look for excuses she will NEVER...I REPEAT NEVER BE "THE AMERICAN IDOL". the show is over people

omg people get over it...... american idol is not rigged.... it doesn't matter who won anyways because we all know that diana is gonna get a record contract... if diana won people would be sayin it was rigged 2.... did u ever think that maybe more people liked fantasia.... there are millions of other people in the us who watch the show... not just the 100 or so users on this board.

Well, the judges' function is to do just that. You can't expect them to keep their mouths closed and leave it all up to America...if they did, they would have no reason to be there.
I was pulling for Fantasia, but I think both will get record deals in time. As we saw last year, the real American Idol is proven after the competition is over. We'll just have to wait and see.

I know that these past few days I probably seemed like a bratty little bitch or whatever just because Diana lost, but that's not why I'm mad at all. If I really thought Fantasia won fair and square, I'd be mad, but not this mad. They messed up Diana's song...and sure, accidents happen, but it's just a little too weird for me that on that same night last year, they messed up Clay's song too. When Jennifer Hudson was voted off, Randy's saying stuff like "as a proud American citizen...blah blah"....oh, as a proud American citizen when someone spectacular gets voted off, America should feel guilty for doing something wrong, yet purposely trying to make a person lose, and during the SEASON FINALE, isn't wrong? Sorry, just had to say that.

The way I see it is...if Diana really deserved to win, she'll have more success than Fantasia in the future. The title will mean nothing.

However, it just seems soooo fishy, and its just weird ( the thing with Diana... and all that)
I mean, on E! True Hollywood Story, Kimberley Locke said "I'm 110% sure that the judges do everything to make sure that their favorite wins. From the beginning, i knew Simon didnt want ME to win", and i remember reading somewhere that after Ruben landed in the bottom 2 that week, they did a lot to make him unforgettable (making him go last 2 weeks in a row, and making Kimberley go first in the top 3 show). hm. im probably getting off topic but i also read in Simon Cowell's book, and he said "Ruben was the weakest that night (top 3) and Kimberley was the strongest, but i really wanted a Ruben and Clay finale". But basically, im not mad that Fantasia won. She's a great idol, but what they did to Diana just seems very iffy to me.

Ehh..same difference :p
Speaking of Clay, I have a question and since you're the expert....:) so on top 3 night, Clay sang Mack the Knife, Unchained Melody, and Vincent. Obviously Vincent was the judges' choice, but I can't remember which song Clay picked -.- I want to say it was Unchained Melody, but I don't really remember. I wasn't really the devoted AI fan back then that I am today. ;)

It was Unchained Melody. They were supposed to pick a song from their Idol and he said that his Idol is his mom. Therefore, he sang her favorite song. Vincent though was the "random" pick out of a hat. Mack the Knife was actually chosen for him by Paula.

Vincent was random. And it was a BAD random at that. But its the producers fault for adding the one line before he had to go on. Like that dope said in that phenomenon special.. for a while Clay was in the lead, and I think they did that to make Ruben look better. Who knows.
