voting tips from another board...

READ THEM

Tonight's Voting Rules:

#1. There are very strict rules for block voting tonight Diana fans. Vote Smart rather than voting hard. If you place a huge number of calls tonight they will consider it block voting and your votes will not count. Block voting would be "using mechanical devises" (which I am sure most of you do not use), or any substantial number of votes coming from the same phone number, i.e. 4000 votes in one hour, etc.

#2. Text messaging is the best way to vote. (see voting rule #3)

#3. Do not tie up lines. Hang up the phone as soon as you hear the maching thanks you for the vote. If you listen to the whole message you are only tying up the lines for other Diana voters.

#4. People can get through almost as soon as they start recapping the show. The first two hours are busier than last too. But we all know Fantasia has the media, judges, and best odds to her favor. Diana needs all the votes she can get.

#5. DO NOT CHECK FANTASIA'S LINES. YOU ARE JUST VOTING AGAINST DIANA BY DOING THAT.

#6. Online votes DO NOT COUNT.

I wish they all sang new songs. I like Dont Cry Outloud, but she already did it, I was hoping for a different blow-out performance. I wonder if anyone will have an impact on the media like Clay did last year with BOTW.

hmmmm maybe its just me, but i think i saw Amy Adams in the audience, and it looks black.

Diana's 1st performance
Randy- It's hard to sing Whitney, it's hard to sing Mariah.. Celine, but you do them! (something like that)
Paula- I feel like a proud parent, seeing little Diana here (something like that)
Simon- You sang that really well. The only thing i have to say is that you're singing about swinging trees, flying, and going across lakes, but you're only 16. a 50 year old should be singing it (oooo Tamyra)

Diana and Fantasia look great, and they're both wearing black. Diana's hair is curled, not straightened. Diana is very very very happy tonight :)

She has 3 numbers

1866IDOLS03
1866IDOLS05

okay now. Fantasia 2nd...

they're showing journey videos.. very good videos. :) (i forgot to mention Diana's video earlier)

but anyways Fantasia... she's singing "All My Life" by Kci and JoJo. One of my favorite songs of all time.

but with fantasias performance... it was good, but i think the background vocals were a little too much, and there were too many "yeah yeah yeahs". it was still good for a good song.

Randy- "I didnt like the arrangement, you were loud but the band was all quiet and stuff"

Paula- "This is where you stand out as an amazing performer. You grab the audience in a chokehole"

Simon- "You're very lucky you're singing 2 other songs, because that was a complete mess"

Diana 3rd song- Dont Cry Out Loud

Randy- you started a little rocky, and it was a little pitchy, and something happened in the middle

Simon- he said something along the lines of 'you shouldnt redo an already-brilliant performacne unless u do it as well as Fantasia did with Summertime'

OMFG. Fantasia is so gonna win. :angryfire :soapbox: the judges kissed her ass WAY too much tonight. I mean, sure, there's sucking up to your favorite...but omfg, on All My Life...SHE DIDN'T EVEN SING LIKE HALF OF THAT DAMN SONG. For the majority of it, it was the background gospel singers, and all she contributed to it was her damn yeah yeah yeah's. Ugh, thank GOD for Simon for calling her out on that one, cuz if not, then I'd definitely say this show is rigged. And it might have just been me, but Fantasia's "I Believe" sounded much longer than Diana's....ok..anyway...</end rant>

So here's what I thought tonight:

Diana:
- I Believe: Stunning. I wish she would already release that damn song and call it her own.

-No More Tears: Amazing as well...even better than the first time.

-Don't Cry Out Loud: OMG. She started off amazing. It was flawless, and her voice sounded 10 x more powerful than it did the first time she sang it...but then omg towards the end when she missed that note...aaaaaaaaahhhhh. And of course, the judges dwell on that. She sang like 95% of it great, and because of one note, they put her down. And of course, Miss Fantasia here can sing 80% of a song suckishly, and they praise her. Go figure.

Fantasia:
- All My Life: see above...

-Summertime: Good...good strategy on her part for picking that song since Randy officially named it "The best performance on any American Idol season".

-I Believe: It was good...

Well, now I'm off to go dial 1866-436-5701, 1866-436-5703, and 1866-436-5705 until I get carpal tunnel syndrome.

Anyways, Diana was wonderful tonight. I loved the first two songs. I thought she did good on the last one, but it wasn't her best. I don't think it was nearly as bad as the judges made it seem. They're all so biased, it's not even funny. But Simon cracked me up tonight. "It sounds like a song a 50 year old should sing! How many lakes have you swam across?"

ALL I CAN SAY IS FANTASIA BETTER WIN...People can say whatever they want but Fantasia was the best tonight. Diana was alright, but not in the same class, or even the same school, as Fantasia, as someone said in USA Today. And NO, the judges were NOT kissing Fantasia's ass, did you not hear them criticizing her 1st song, which I admit wasnt that good, but her last 2 songs TOTALLY made up for it! It's not like the judges didnt PRAISE Diana for some of her less-than-amazing performances. OMG.. when she started crying I almost started to cry. :crying:

After tonight, it was more obvious then ever as to who is the best singer of the two. Fantasia was great. I like Diana, but tonight she was just blah. :/ Anyway, no matter who wins this thing, I think Fantasia is the American Idol this season. I watched the finale as neither a Diana or a Fantasia fan. I based my voting on my perception of tonight's performances. Here are my thoughts:

-"I Believe" is a terrible song. I would not buy the single if either of them released it. The opening was not strong for Diana and Fantasia's gravelly voice wasn't suited for long sustained notes. Diana sang the song better than Fantasia, but Fantasia had the better performance.

-"All My Life" was terrible. I couldn't stand it. The background singers did all the singing and Fantasia just added her "yeah yeah"s.

-"Summertime" wasn't as good as the first time. I wish both contestants would have sang all new songs for the finale. I guess the repeat can never live up to the original. Also, I don't think Fantasia was the best contestant ever. Still, good overall.

-"Don't Cry Out Loud" was okay, but once again, it did not live up to the previous performance. However, Diana's other song was strong.

-I don't like how the judges crowned Fantasia the winner. It was almost enough to drive me to vote for Diana, but after tonight's show, I believe Fantasia should win and will win the title and that's my fearless prediction.

What I like better about Fantasia, besides her voice, is her attitude. After each terrific performance, she almost looks "surprised" that she did that well and/or the audience's reaction. Much more humble than Diana. Fantasia gives a sincere, "Thank you, Randy" (or whoever) to each judge. Diana gives a quick "Thank you very much"...it sounds very canned.

I had never seen Diana's first audition before. :barf:

She thought she was SOOOO cute. Simon told her she wasn't.

Diana needs to bring it down a couple notches. She has major attitude.

Actually, I a lot of the reason why I don't like Fantasia (besides the Macy Gray sound) is because she used to be rude to the judges. At the very begining of the competition she would talk back to Simon. I forget what she said but it started with something like "Well, Simon..." I have to say she has gotten much better with that over the past weeks. I dont see how you can say THAT's an attitude. I dont understand why people are like "oh, look she just said something back to Simon, this girl has SUCH an attitude!" I dont see how you can say that's an attitude, she does it half-jokingly. Diana, on the other had, does seem to have an attitude though...

As for some of these Diana fans, don't begrudge Fantasia of her win. Diana is great, yes, but Fantasia is even better. She's been my favorite since the auditions and I'm so happy she won. I really don't know anybody personally who was rooting for Diana.

Honestly, it does sound corny, but they're both winners. Both are going to make lots of money- it really doesn't matter who won. For people who didn't watch "AI2," who won, Ruben or Clay? It's so hard to tell because Clay has arguably been more successful than Ruben.

Speaking of Ruben, that boy has to lose some weight! OMG he is huge! Lose weight not from a career standpoint, but a health one.

got to feel bad for Justin tonight. they have Kelly and Clay and Ruben and all these past contestants, but not the runner up from the first group? Wow, he really has fallen hard.

Anybody noticed how hard Fantasia was hugging Diana at the end? I thought she was going to snap her neck!

Also, anybody else get a gay vibe from Fantasia?

I wasn't a big Fantasia fan in the very beginning. In fact, I wasn't really sure what to make of her, but week after week she started growing on me. Then when it got down to the bottom 6 and I started looking forward to seeing her sing. She always looks so comfortable on stage, the way she handles the audience is great, and she's so entertaining. Her voice is very unique and its like no other in the competition, which made her stand out for me.
Diana has the voice of just about every other singer out there. Don't get me wrong, she has a beautiful voice, but Fantasia is different and its a nice change.
So, Congragulations to Fantasia, she really deserves it.
