It's about two single parents with children from previous marriages who recently got married, leaving their children not too thrilled about moving in together. Jennifer Coolidge plays an attractive and very seductive divorcee, Melanie Sutton-Fuller, who is an ex-model and currently is a beautician. Melanie and her stubborn ex-husband, Greg Sutton(Jim Belushi) have a set of fraternal twin daughters: Rachel Sutton (Mary-Kate Olsen) and Breanna Sutton (Ashley Olsen), who are just like their mom in every way. Brad Garrett plays a funny, yet manly divorcee, Jack Fuller, who is a police officer. Jack and his very needy ex-wife, Karen Fuller (Patricia Richardson) have two teenage boys: Tyler Fuller (Justin Berfield) and Jason Fuller (Martin Spanjers). Jack and Melanie got married recently and now want to move into a house together with their kids. They all move into a condo in Malibu, California. Breanna and Rachel tend to be a little more "prissy" and are grossed out by how their new stepdad and stepbrothers are use to living. Tyler and Jason tend to be a little on the rougher side, they tend to do more rough-housing and normal teenage boys's habits. Jack and Mel just want to become a normal family, but that just can't seem to happen with the constant feuding between the Sutton and Fuller kids, and their exes dropping by unexpectedly, and the yuppie neighbors (Bonnie Hunt, John Travolta) always putting their "two-cents" in when not wanted. In the pilot, the Sutton-Fullers move into the condo and meet their yuppie, rich, snotty psychologist neighbors who are kid-less, but like to tell others how to raise theirs.
