Kathy Najimy stars as Olivia Hennessee, a housewife of 20 years and a mother of 19 years. Olivia lives with her workaholic husband, Dan (Tim Allen), her four needy children: Brian, 19 (Billy Aaron Brown), Chloe, 16 (Hilary Duff), Jason, 15 (Griffen Frazen), and Jamie, 12 (Jamie Lynn Spears). Olivia's best friend, Denise Reynolds (Kirstie Alley) also lives next door with her (often away on business trips) husband next door. Denise and her hubby, Rick are Dan and Olivia's best friends. They have no kids and are career people, but often get into arguments over the littlest things.

Ep1: Pilot:
Olivia gets the idea from Denise to go back to school with her. After telling them her idea, Olivia learns her hubby and kids aren't okay with her going back to school. Olivia feels she's gonna do it no matter what.

Ep2: Registration:
Denise and Olivia register for college, Brian is embarrassed to learn his mom and her firend are in some of his college classes. Dan is forced to help around the house, but learns how hard it really is.

Ep3: Make-Up And Shake-Up:
After feeling old, Olivia and Denise run to Chloe and Jamie for free makeover to make them feel younger. Brian buys a new car with Jason, against Dan and Olivia's okay.

Ep4: Dating Young Ones:
After learning her husband has been cheating on her over the years, Denise desperately seeks dating advice from Chloe. Denise gets asked out by her Psychology professor, but learns that she use to babysit him when he was younger. Jamie gets her period and is too mortified to speak about it to anyone, which makes Olivia kind of upset.

Ep5: Dropping Classes:
After learning she secretly dropped her Chemistry class, Dan and Olivia ground Chloe. Chloe decides to sneak out of the house to go to a party, but gets caught by Olivia. Denise and Rick file for a divorce. Jason takes Brian's advice on getting women to notice him.

Ep6: Life's Choices:
Denise feels she can't go to college and battle a divorce at the same time, so she rethinks the divorce and has Dan talk to Rick. Olivia and Chloe caught Brian dating two different girls at once and are furious with him.

Ep7: Feuding:
The family is soo annoyed with Jamie and Jason's constant feuding with each other. Dan tells Denise that Rick's mistress left him now realizing he was married. Denise wants to get back with Rick and refuses to sign any divorce-related papers.

Ep8: Art Classes And Housewives:
Olivia, Denise, and Chloe decide to take a art class, where they learn that a nude male model will pose for them. Olivia is stunned and mortifield that the art is for kids (like Chloe) too. Dan walks in on Brian and his overnight girlfriend, but Dan doesnt tell Olivia about Brian's guest which leads to more problems.

Ep9: Jason's Confusion:
Jason comes to Denise with his problems, but breaks the promise by telling Olivia about what he discussed. Which leads to contraversy. Chloe is asked to go out with a college guy, a friend of Brian's, but Chloe is furious when Brian and Dan won't let her go out with the sleezeball.

Ep10: Cookies For Sale:
After taking advantage of their trust, Jamie and 2 friends walk into Denise's house to talk her into buying some cookies from them, but the three walk in on Denise and Rick in the bedroom. After telling Olivia and Dan what they saw, Jamie tries to avoid Denise and Rick as much as possible. Olivia, Dan, Denise, and Rick have an argument over privacy. Jason tells Brian that he saw Chloe with that sleazy friend of Brian's. Jason and Brian go out and spy on Chloe and the guy, but get caught by Chloe, who is once again upset about them not trusting her with a guy like him.
(Note: Denise and Olivia still are friends at the end of their argument afterall, just so you know).

Ep11: Life's All Mine:
Dan goes on a business trip with Rick to Cincinnati for a week, where Dan learns why Rick cheated on Denise and other interesting details. Meanwhile, Denise and Olivia attempt to host a tupperware party. Chloe decides to help them out after realizing the two are way over their heads.

Ep12: Boys, Boys, and More Boys:
Jamie begs her parents to let her go out with a boy in her class to the movies with a group of co-ed friends. Dan and Olivia argee for her to go, but Chloe advices her not to--only beacuse the boy's older brother is her age and is not a little on the grubby side. Olivia tells Jamie to forget what Chloe said, then she tells Chloe that she is a bit too shallow and needs to accept other people more openly. Chloe decides to work on not being too shallow.

Ep13: Cheating Is Bad:
Jason gets a detention for cheating on his History test, as Rick goes to court for cheating on his taxes. Dan tells Denise that she's better off without Rick, Denise ponders divorcing Rick for good this time. Chloe and her two friends, Summer and Tiffany go to a big college party, where Brian is. The girls bump into a drunk Brian. Brian and Chloe make a pact not to tell on each other (brian for being drunk, chloe for being at the party).

Ep14: Anniversary:
Olivia and Dan go out to dinner for their anniversary. Jason and Brian drills Jamie's new "boyfriend" with questions before the two go to the school's dance. Chloe and Denise go shopping and get mugged.

Ep15: Weekend At The Cabin:
Dan and Olivia take the four kids and Denise up to the family's cabin up north for the weekend. Denise and Rick file for divorce. Chloe's cellphone gets taken away by Dan, due to the extremely high phone bill. Jamie starts picking up Chloe's shallow attitude, which drives everyone nuts-especially Chloe.

Ep16: Surprising News:
Brian drops the news of him dropping out of college. Dan and Olivia are furious. Denise decides to sell her house, after Rick moves into his own apartment across town. Denise sells her house to a rich yuppie couple (John Travolta, Helen Hunt), then finds herself homeless until she moves in with the Hennessees.

Ep17: One Too Many:
Olivia and Denise go to the bar and have a few too many. Dan and the kids become mad, when the two adults come home drunk and very noisy waking everyone up at 2 AM. Chloe gives Jamie clothing advice for her school's picture day.

Ep18: Brian and His Girlfriend:
Brian has his girlfriend, Kellie (Megan Fox) spend the night for the second time. This time instead of Dan walking in on them, Olivia does. Olivia is furious and out of anger, tells him to move out if he wants to have overnight visitors. So, Brian and Kellie look into buying an apartment together. Olivia becomes upset, when Brian actually does look into moving out--but he realizes they can't afford an apartment, so he decides to move back in with his family and obey the rules.

Ep19: Hennessee Family Reunion:
Dan's family reunion is coming up. Olivia and the kids aren't too thrilled about going, but go anyway just to make Dan happy. Meanwhile, Denise decides to go on Chloe's computer to look for a job, but ends up getting into a chatroom and becomes addicted to talking to strangers (and making up identities and background stories) in the chatroom.

Ep20: Jason's Day Off:
Jason and two of his friends decide to skip two of their classes, but get caught by Rick-who feels obligated to tell Dan. Denise and Olivia put Jamie into a preteen beauty pageant, Jamie gets second place.

Ep21: No More Soda:
Olivia decides to get rid of all and any soda inside the house. Jason, Brian, Chloe, and Jamie go through withdrawls from having no soda. Dan accompanies Denise as she goes out and buys a new car (Mini Cooper).

Ep22: Prom Is Tonight:
Chloe and Jason are going to their high school's prom. Chloe's date is Brandon-the Quarterback of the Varsity Football team, and Jason's date is Amanda-the head Cheerleader. Amanda and Brandon were going out with each other for 2 years until they broke up 8 weeks from prom. At the dance, Chloe and Jason realize that their dates are back together, leaving them dateless. Brian gets a job at an extreme sports equipment store at the mall.

Ep23: Dinner From Hell:
Dan and Olivia invite the neighbors, Mark and Patty (John Travolta, Helen Hunt) over for dinner. Mark and Patty spend the night acting stuck up and ungrateful, Dan and Olivia are counting down the minutes until the neighbors leave. Denise lets Brian drive her brand new car, Brian gets a ticket for speeding in Denise's new Mini Cooper.

Ep24: Last Day of School:
Chloe, Jason, and Jamie are looking forward to having their last day of school. Chloe's entering the 11th grade, Jason's entering the 10th grade, and Jamie's entering the 7th grade. Denise and Olivia agree to not go back to college in the fall. Dan gets a big promotion and raise in pay like triple his old paycheck.

Ep25: Summer Is Here:
With the kids out with their friends the whole summer, Dan and Olivia decide to go on a cruise in the Bahamas. Olivia and Dan cancel their plans after realizing Rick invited Denise, Dan, Olivia, and the kids to spend the summer with him in his huge condo in Malibu. The Hennessees and Denise agree to go with Rick. During the stay, Rick tries to rekindle things with Denise, who is thinking of taking him back.

Episodes 26-50

Ep26: Day In The Life:
Jamie's most prized possession-her diary-is gone missing. Jamie decides to search the house from top to bottom, rooting through everything (and we mean EVERYTHING) in order to find it. As luck would have it, Jamie put it in her pillow case and totally forgot about it. Jason asks out Ashley (Brie Larsen), the new girl in school, to the movies, Ashley accepts.

Ep27: Big Surprise:
Dan, Denise, and the kids plan a secret surprise party for Olivia's 42nd Birthday. Olivia ends up knowing her family and Denise are up to something, since things aren't as hectic as usual. Jason begs the family to let him invite Ashley to the party, after the family decides it will be a small gathering of family and close friends (of Olivia's, not the kids).

Ep28: Rick's Return:
Rick returns to take Denise out for a romantic weekend away, Denise goes along. Rick proposes for the second time, but Denise says no this time. Rick becomes hurt and is eager to end the now not-so-romantic weekend. Dan and Olivia agree on thinking Jason is becoming too serious with Ashley too soon and suggest for him to slow things down, Jason becomes angry by his parents interfering in his "love life".

Ep29: Friends Cause Trouble:
Chloe's longtime best friend, Tori (Amanda Bynes) drops by after moving away to Cleveland with her mom and stepdad, to pay a visit to the Hennessees. Chloe soon realizes Tori isn't too interested in with being friends with Chloe, but is interested in Brian. Tori tries to seduce Brian, Brian becomes extremely flattered, but then tells Tori he has a girlfriend. Tori backs off and leaves without saying farewell to Chloe. Rick comfronts Dan about Denise turning down his proposal, who is asked to talk Denise into changing her answer.

Ep30: No More Friendship:
After feeling trapped in the middle, Dan decides to break off his friendship with Rick, in order to have his wife's best friend happy. Rick becomes confused and hurt. Olivia interrupts Jason's date with Ashley at the house, by not leaving the two teens alone together. Jason becomes furious with Olivia and threatens to leave and never come back. Olivia thinks he's kidding and gives him an okay. Jason and Ashley leave.

Ep31: Help Me Find My Son:
Olivia becomes upset with Jason gone. Olivia convinces the family to go out and find him. Brian, Kellie (megan fox), and Chloe end up finding him at the mall, and share a heart-to-heart(to-heart) chat. Jaosn decides to return home, only if Olivia promises to ease up and give him and Ashley some privacy. Denise looks into buying the house across the street from Olivia and Dan, and gets the house.
(Note: Brie Larsen, "Ashley Becker", becomes part of the cast. Megan Fox, "Kellie Foster", becomes part of the cast also.)

Ep32: New Roommates:
With Denise moving into her new home across the street, Brian and Kellie ask Denise if they can also move into her new home with her. Denise allows the two to move in. Olivia ends up missing Brian and wants to move back in. Brian tells Olivia he is right across the street and visit daily, she becomes okay with the idea of him moving out--when Chloe asks to have Dan put in a workout room in Brian's old room in the basement.

Ep33: Fraternities and Sororities:
Brian enters a fraternity, but the truth gets out that he isn't going to his college classes. Brian must attend his classes to stay in the fraternity. His girlfriend, Kellie (megan fox) helps Brian with his notes and homework. Kellie is a member of the sorority down the street from Brian's frat house, which works out great. Jamie gets a detention for yelling back at her teacher, Dan and Olivia are shocked by Jamie's outbreak in school.

Ep34: Chloe's New Boy:
Chloe begins dating an older guy, Seth (Adam Brody). Seth begs Chloe to let him be introduced to her parents. Dan, Brian, and Jason become concerned of what his intention is with Chloe, seeing he is 22, and she is 17. Dan and Chloe's brothers aren't too thrilled about Seth and think he's got something up his sleeve.

Ep35: Female Weekend Trip:
Denise and Olivia plan a women's only weekend in Milwaukee, WI. Meanwhile, Kellie and Brian decide to double date with Chloe and Seth. Dan realizes his relationship with Jamie is slipping and the two "try" to bond, but Dan finds it harder to connect with her since she hit puberty.

Ep36: Time's Up:
Olivia and Dan tell Chloe and Jason to get out and get jobs, due to the fact they are "big moochers". Chloe finds a job at Abercrombie and Fitch (at the mall), as Jason finds a job at the local used car dealership. Jason ends up being a great employee (by selling the most cars in his first week). Jamie lies to her parents about going to a girls-only sleepover, but is really going to a co-ed, all-night party.

Ep37: Grounded Forever:
Jamie becomes grounded when her parents learn she lied and really where she was, Jamie becomes angry and sneaks out anyways---and to come home, only to get caught by Olivia and Dan. Dan realizes Jamie isn't his "little girl" anymore, and that he needs to become more strict with her. Brian and Kellie learn something about Denise's new love life--she's secretly 'dating' the young and buff mailman.

Ep38: Too Much Fun Ain't Too Good:
Jason and his girlfriend, Ashley (Brie Larsen) go to a party, where alcohol and drugs are available. Jason and Ashley get asked to take some (both alcohol and drugs), Ashley declines the offer-yet Jason takes them up on the offer. Which causes a "set-back" in his and Ashley's relationship. Ashley tells Chloe and Brian what Jason did, they have a talk with Jason--who just simply doesn't care what his siblings have to say. Jamie gives her parents the cold shoulder until she is "un-grounded" in two weeks.
(From here on out, the episodes are a little more dramatic, even though they are still comedic. Just its a little low-key in some episodes, at least for the remainder of season two)

Ep39: Down The Wrong Path (Or Two):
Jason becomes a regular at those kinds of a parties. Ashley tried and tried to convince Jason to quit those bad habits, but no such luck. Ashley ponders breaking it off for good. Seth decides to hangout with Brian and Kellie, with that said, Chloe becomes worried that Seth likes Kellie and not her anymore. Seth becomes honest that he thinks Kellie is gorgeous, but he loves Chloe and wouldn't do anything to jeopardize that. Chloe tells Seth, she loves him too.

Ep40: The Ticket:
Chloe gets her first speeding ticket and is made by her parents to pay it herself. Jason gets his license on the same day, as Chloe gets her first ticket. Jason decides to celebrate with a few of his friends by "mellowing out" in his room--where he gets walked in out by Brian, who is royally pissed.

Ep41: Siblings And Significant Others:
Brian, Kellie, Chloe, Seth, and Ashley have a little "pow-wow" to discuss Jason and his problems with alcohol and marijuana. Jason walks in on the five of them talking, he had overheard some, and is extremely mad that they are "ganging up on him like that". Denise decides to break off her little affair with the mailman, after he calls her "mommy" once during "one of his visits".

Ep42: Jamie Finds Out:
Jamie finds out about Jason smoking pot, while accidently overhearing Chloe and Kellie's phone conversation. Jamie comfronts Jason (while he is on something) and wants to find out the truth. Jason becomes angry and shoves Jamie into the wall forcefully (after Jamie pumps him for answers, after getting nowhere with him at first). Jamie is stunned, as is Jason. Jason soon after realizes what he did and wants to apologize to Jamie, who runs away. Jamie tells Chloe and Brian what happened. While Chloe comforts a frightened Jamie, Brian is on a mission to talk/knock some sense into Jason for one final time (before telling his parents).

Ep43: Telling Dan and Olivia:
Dan and Olivia are told by Brian, Chloe, and Jamie (with assistance of Ashley, Kellie, and Seth) about Jason's drug and alcohol problems. Dan and Olivia are stunned and shocked, they try to have a talk with Jason. Dan and Olivia enter Jason into a youth rehab for a few weeks. Denise finds out about Jason through the grapevines at the grocery store, then is told by the other kids after while.

Ep44: Life Without Jason:
With Jason in rehab, things have changed. The whole family misses (the old) Jason and "tries" to go back to their normal lives-which is quite hard to do with the whole school and half the town knowing about Jason.

Ep45: Girls Visiting:
Ashley wants to visit Jason in rehab, but is scared to go alone--so Kellie, Chloe, and Jamie accompany her. Kellie, Chloe, Ashley, and Jamie go and visit Jason in rehab. Brian and Seth help Dan rebuild Brian's old basement apartmentish room into a workout room.

Ep46: Dr. Phil:
Olivia takes Jason, Dan, Chloe, Brian, and Jamie to Dr. Phil's talk show to get help and advice (Denise, Kellie, Seth, and Ashley attend the show, but sit in the audience). Dr. Phil appears as himself.

(episodes 47-50, the last couple episodes of season two will be out pretty soon).. then season three episodes will be coming out soon after that.

Ep47: Back From Rehab:
Jason comes home from rehab and is grounded by Dan and Olivia for a week. Chloe becomes head cheerleader and is thrilled to death, by her new-found popularity. Jason finds it hard to go back to school to face all of the people, and most importantly his friends. His friends weren't happy to see him, they just wanted to know if he squealed on them or not, he said no. Brian and Kellie babysit for a single mom-who is one of Kellie's friends-of a 2 year old son. The two find it hair-raising to babysit the toddler, they realize they definitely aren't ready to have a kid.

Ep48: Jason Get Harrassed:
Jason gets harrassed by his Biology teacher for being a drug addict and had been in rehab. Dan and Olivia find out what's been going on and are furious. Dan and Olivia, separately goes to school to have a "talk" with his teacher. Denise takes Jamie and her two friends to the mall, Denise likes being around the three girls and offers to buy them anything they want (to an extent).

Ep49: Last Day of School:
It's the last day of school for Chloe, Jason, and Jamie. Jamie is looking forward to being in the 8th grade, as Jason is looking forward to summer (and being in the 11th grade secretly), as Chloe is really looking forward to being a senior in high school and graduating. Chloe decides she doesn't want to be tied down over the summer, so Chloe and Seth decide to just be friends (with benefits). Ashley tries to reconnect with Jason over the summer. Jason ends up apologizing to Ashley, his parents, his siblings, Seth, Kellie, and Denise for causing all the "drama". They end up forgiving him.

Ep50: Life's Good:
Dan, Olivia, and Denise go on a cruise in the Bahamas for two weeks and are enjoying their kid-free vacation. While their parents are gone, the kids each invite over their friends--which turns into a big party. Jason ends up becoming offered the chance to smoke pot with a few of his old friends (before rehab). Jason becomes perplexed and hesitates about taking it. Ashley walks in on Jason and his friends (one is holding a bag of pot), Ashley just assumes Jason is about to smoke it, and runs out of the house upset. Jason tries to run after her, but he gets cornered by his friends pressuring him. Jason finally has had enough, tells them off, and leaves the room (pot-free) in search of Ashley.

SEASON THREE
EPISODES 51-75

Ep51: New Starts:
Chloe starts her first day at community college, as Kellie encourages Brian to pursue his dream career of being a firefighter. Meanwhile, Ashley gives in to Jason, and quits giving him the cold-shoulder-on their first day of the 11th grade.

Ep52: Mr. Chef:
Dan decides to prepare and make a delicious meal for his family just to prove to his family-he can cook. Dan ends up surprising Olivia and the kids greatly. Meanwhile, Denise recieves a call from Rick, who wants to once again reconcile. Plus, Jamie befriends the new kid in school, Kyle (Jacob Smith).

Ep53: Love/Hate Relationships:
Denise agrees to go out to dinner with Rick, with intentions of not reconciling. Meanwhile, Dan and Olivia realize Jamie has feelings for her "strictly-platonic friend" Kyle. Jason and Ashley hangout for the first time in a long time.

Ep54: Chloe's Professor:
Chloe's Psychology professor, Prof. Hartlett (Billy Crystal) feels Chloe has great potential and still needs to try her best-even though she is maintaining a straight A average. Olivia and Denise decide to look into buying a going-out-of-business ice cream parlor. Against encouragement from Dan and the kids, they decide to pitch in and buy the ice cream parlor.

Ep55: Together Again:
Olivia and Denise remincise about working together back during high school at the mall food court. Meanwhile, Brian signs up for the firefighting course at the community college. Dan and Jason go car-shopping, after Dan's SUV turns out to be a "gas-guzzler".

Ep56: Recruiting The Kids:
Denise and Olivia recruit Kellie, Chloe, Jason, and Ashley to help out at the ice cream parlor. Jamie is hurt that she can't work and get paid, due to her being only 14. Dan bumps into Rick at the gym, and gets roped into meeting his new girlfriend-who confesses in private that she was paid to pose as his girlfriend in order to make Denise jealous.

Ep57: Just A Boy Friend?:
Kyle asks Jamie out to the movies, she accepts. They share a so-called secret kiss, which was spotted by Jason and Ashley who went to the same movie. Also, Brian gets offered the chance to do a job shadow with a firefighter, Mike (Christopher Meloni). After the job shadow, Mike offers Brian the chance to become an intern at the fire department-he gladly accepts.

Ep58: To Celebrate:
Dan takes Olivia, Denise, the kids, Kellie, and Ashley out to eat-to celebrate the eve of the grand opening of the ice cream parlor, and to celebrate Brian's internship. They must deal with a ditzy waitress (Kelly Ripa) who can't get any of their orders correct, even if her life depended on it.

Ep59: Grand Opening:
It's the grand opening of "Cold Stone Creamery" (the ice cream parlor). Denise, Olivia, Kellie, Chloe, Ashley, and Jason are pumped. Yet by closing time, the six are extremely exhausted and wore out. Meanwhile, Mike and Brian get called to a garage on fire, when they arrive-Brian just froze and couldn't believe how real it all was. Even though, he was a bit frightened by the huge flames, he loved every minute of it all.

Ep60: Beijing, China-We Go:
Dan goes to Beijing, China on a weeklong business trip. Denise, Brian, and Kellie learn their hot water isn't working-the plumber can't come for another three days. So the three temporarily move in with Olivia, Chloe, Jason, and Jamie for the next three days.
