Before the Futon Critic comes out with their predictions, predict the fall schedules for any or all of the networks
Here's my prediction for ABC
Mondays
8:00 Primetime Monday
9:00 Monday Night Football
(Movie in January)
--- This works well so I don't see it changing
Tuesdays:
8:00 8 Simple Rules
8:30 Less Than Perfect
9:00 According to Jim
9:30 THAT'S MY RODNEY
10:00 NYPD Blue
--- "8 Simple Rules" should pull decent numbers before "American Idol" launches in January and "Less Than Perfect" may have a better shot at succeeding than "I'm With Her" or "Life With Bonnie" did at the 8:30 slot. "That's My Rodney" could become another of ABC's many semi-successful comedies by being after "Jim" which won't have "Frasier" to deal with anymore
Wednesdays:
8:00 My Wife & Kids
8:30 UNTITLED JESSICA SIMPSON PROJECT
9:00 DEMARCO AFFAIRS
10:00 Bachelor/Bachelorette
--- The 8:30 slot could be Jessica's show or it could be "Life With Bonnie" or "I'm With Her" if it doesn't get cancelled. Jessica's show could easily be on Fridays but I do think it'll make the schedule. ABC struggles Weds at 10 with new shows so by pushing "The Bachelor/Bachelorette" back, it could cushion a new show better and make Wednesday stronger
Thursdays:
8:00 Extreme Makeover
9:00 EMPIRE
10:00 Primetime Live
--- The 8 and 10 will stay but whatever is placed at 9 may die a quick death
Fridays:
8:00 George Lopez Show
8:30 Life With Bonnie
9:00 Hope & Faith
9:30 UNTITLED JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT PROJECT
10:00 20/20
--- The 8:30 slot could be Jessica Simpson's show but with "George Lopez" and "Hope and Faith" becoming cornerstones, they could do a lot with the other slots
Saturdays
8:00 Wonderful World of Disney
10:00 Various Programming
--- I think ABC has given up on Saturdays
Sundays
7:00 America's Funniest Home Videos
8:00 Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
9:00 Alias
10:00 UNTITLED "THE PRACTICE" SPINOFF
--- It's a semi-successful night so I don't really see them altering it too much

CBS:
Monday:
8: Raymond
8:30: Still Standing
9- Two & A Half Men
9:30 New Comedy
10 CSI Miami
Tuesday:
As is
Wednesday:
8pm Yes, Dear
8:30 New Comedy
9 King of Queens
9:30 New Comedy
10 48 Hours
Thursday
As is
Friday:
8pm Joan Of Arcadia
9pm JAG
10pm New drama
Saturday:
8pm 60 Minutes II
9pm The District
10pm CSI New York
Sunday
As is
I think Raymond will (or should) move up an hour because this will be the last season and CBS has already prepped "Two Men" to take over for it.
Going all comedies would be smart on Wednesday as the eye is keen on opening a new night to sitcoms and KOQ is already successful there.
The only wild card is really CSI New York. I would love to see the network use it on Saturday as it is the only night on the schedule that reallty needs fixing. CBS would own the night in a big way next season if it goes this route, but Wednesday or Friday at 10pm is more likely.

I predict that CSI New York will be on Sunday nights and that CBS will get rid of their Sunday movie.
Will and Grace will take over for Frasier on Tuesdays.

04-19-2004, 03:10 PM
My CBS prediction:
Mondays:
8:00 Yes Dear
8:30 UNTITLED AISHA TYLER PROJECT
9:00 Everybody Loves Raymond
9:30 Two and a Half Men
10:00 CSI: Miami
--- Although the Aisha Tyler Project would probably be better fit at 9:30, I think CBS would like to keep "Two and a Half Men"'s post-Raymond audience growing so it can take the Monday 9:00 slot in Fall 2005
Tuesdays:
8:00 Navy NCIS
9:00 The Guardian
10:00 Judging Amy
--- It works well, why change it
Wednesdays:
8:00 Still Standing
8:30 SHUT UP AND LISTEN
9:00 King of Queens
9:30 CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE
10:00 DR. VEGAS
--- Going to four comedies here is the way to go... "King of Queens" will continue to draw audiences and the other shows can build around it. "Still Standing" sometimes gets audiences larger than "Yes Dear" so I think it can lead off a night. The other 2 comedies fit in with the style of "Standing" and "King". Although the 10:00 slot could definitely be the new CSI, I think they may try something else.
Thursdays:
8:00 Survivor
9:00 CSI
10:00 Without a Trace
--- No way this is changing
Fridays:
8:00 Joan of Arcadia
9:00 JAG
10:00 WANTED
--- They'll find a fit for Friday night 10:00. If it's not "Wanted", it could be something else
Saturdays:
8:00 THE CLUBHOUSE
9:00 The District
10:00 CSI: NEW YORK
--- This is my biggest gamble. I think they should try the successful CSI franchise on an unsuccessful night and see what happens. Moving "The District" to 9 would give CBS a balanced evening even though "The Clubhouse" would be thrown to the wolves
Sundays:
7:00 60 Minutes
8:00 Cold Case
9:00 Sunday Movie
--- Another why change it night

My NBC prediction
In Bold is the actual schedule
Mondays:
8:00 Fear Factor
9:00 Las Vegas
10:00 Average Joe/PLAIN JANE
--- This is already announced as staying put
Mondays
8:00 Fear Factor
9:00 Las Vegas
10:00 LAX
--- Guess they changed their minds... this makes sense because "LAX" should fit well with "Las Vegas"
Tuesdays:
8:00 AMERICANA
8:30 FOSTER HALL
9:00 Will & Grace
9:30 Scrubs
10:00 Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
--- With "Frasier" gone, "Scrubs" cannot be the only experienced show left on Tuesday. Although "Whoopi" or "Happy Family" may stay, it seems more likely that "Will & Grace" will head back to Tuesday
Tuesdays
8:00 Average Joe/THE CONTENDER
9:00 FATHER OF THE PRIDE
9:30 Scrubs
10:00 Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
--- I must commend NBC on their selections here.... it makes far more sense to try a reality show than to send 2 more comedies to the wolves from 8-9PM plus "Father of the Pride" can do alright and "Scrubs" will stay nicely cushioned
Wednesdays:
8:00 HAWAII
9:00 The West Wing
10:00 Law & Order
--- They need to find something for Weds at 8, it could be a drama like I predicted or another reality show
Wednesdays
8:00 HAWAII
9:00 The West Wing/REVELATIONS
10:00 Law & Order
--- As I predicted... "Hawaii" on Wednesdays!
Thursdays:
8:00 JOEY
8:30 MY 11:30
9:00 The Apprentice
10:00 ER
--- Starting off the night with 2 new comedies is risky but "Joey" should have a solid following that "My 11:30" can build on
Thursdays
8:00 JOEY
8:30 Will & Grace
9:00 The Apprentice
10:00 ER
--- I still think they shoulda considered moving "Will & Grace" but this lineup should keep NBC contending with CBS for Thursdays
Fridays:
8:00 Dateline NBC
9:00 LAW AND ORDER: TRIAL BY JURY
10:00 Third Watch
--- "Law and Order: Trial by Jury" may not come until midseason, should that happen then "Dateline" would most likely be 2 hours
Fridays
8:00 Dateline NBC
9:00 Third Watch
10:00 MEDICAL INVESTIGATIONS
--- Not so sure about this one... "Third Watch" has finally found a time it can beat the competition and now it's most likely going against "Jag"... I think it shoulda stayed at 10
Saturdays:
8:00 Saturday Night Movie
--- No changes here as already announced
Saturdays
8:00 Saturday Night Movie
--- What a shocking move
Sundays:
7:00 Dateline NBC
8:00 American Dreams
9:00 Law & Order: Criminal Intent
10:00 Crossing Jordan
--- No changes here as already announced
Sundays
7:00 Dateline NBC
8:00 American Dreams
9:00 Law & Order: Criminal Intent
10:00 Crossing Jordan
--- This lineup should be stronger with "Crossing Jordan" here for a whole season

ABC:
Mondays:
8:00PM Primetime Monday (Sep-Jan)
9:00PM Monday Night Football (Sep-Jan)
Movie starts January
Tuesdays:
8:00PM 8 Simple Rules
8:30PM Hope & Faith
9:00PM According to Jim
9:30PM Less Than Perfect
10:00PM NYPD Blue
- Moving Hope & Faith makes Tuesdays even stronger from September to January at least.
Wednesdays
8:00PM Extreme Makeover
9:00PM The Bachelor/Bachlorette
10:00PM Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
- It's time for the 8 p.m. sitcom hour to move to Thursdays, now with Friends gone.
Thursdays:
8:00PM My Wife & Kids
8:30PM HOT MAMA (with Gina Gershon and Nick Lachey)
9:00PM Life With Bonnie
9:30PM JOEL STEIN
10:00PM Primetime Thursday
-Empire is a limited series, so I guess it'll air Thursdays at 9 for those few weeks.
Fridays:
8:00PM George Lopez
8:30PM JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT
9:00PM JESSICA SIMPSON
9:30PM I'm With Her
-To me this looks like ABC's best shot on building TGIF.
Saturdays:
8:00PM Disney Movie
10:00PM America's Funniest Home Video/Various
Sundays:
7:00PM America's Funniest Home Videos
8:00PM Alias
9:00PM DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES (with Teri Hatcher)
10:00PM THE PRACTICE SPIN-OFF
- As much as I would have liked EM: HE to air at Sundays at 8 still, I think it'll be a more dominant force on Wednesdays at 10.

I think that both CBS and NBC will try to go after Saturdays with the new series of CSI and Law & Order. There is an audience out there- the nets collectivelty have low ratings but only a 30-35 share on the night. Either of thses shows could be huge on the night.
Barwars88- you left Raymond off your CBS prediction! It's going to come back, or else the series finale promotion machine would be in full force by now. My guess is that CBS has already struck a deal with Raymond and Phil Rosenthal, but wants to "keep the suspense" up until the upfronts.

Tracey Morgan won't be back and NBC has bascially already announced it's fall shcedule. The only changes are Tuesdays 8-9:30pm. Wednesday 8pm and Thursday 8-9pm. NBC also said they might try to find another drama to lead out of "Dateline" on Friday, but it isn't a big priority right now since the two hour "Dateline" block is doing extremely well right now.
Saturday, as it was this season, will be all "L&O" repeats, which is a smart stategy for the network considering that nothing has worked for them on the night since "The Pretender" and "Profiler" went off the air.

I really hope something happens with that 2nd Practice spinoff (the sitcom Camryn Manheim is jokingly referring to as "What the Frutt?"). I know that it won't happen until 2005 if it does but still....
Madness
04-23-2004, 02:15 AM
A lot of the same, cookie cutter sitcoms. It's unpredictable but I'll take a shot. This is NOT how they should look but possibly will. Some of the changes I agree with, some of them I don't.
ABC
Sunday
7-AFV
8-Desperate Housewives
9-Alias
10-SPADER Spin-off
Alias should be off Sun and on Mon at 8, 20/20 would fare a little better than AFV sundays IF they don't have John Stossell as the main guy
Monday
8-Surgeons
9-MN Football
As I said, Alias would complement MNF best
Tuesday
8-8 Simple Rules
830-Furst Family
9-According to Jim
930-Lewis Black
10-NYPD Blue
Good solid comedy line-up, NYPD Blue in its last season. The only thing that should change is NYPD Blue should be bumped up to 9pm and a drama like Eyes should take the 10 spot so NYPD Blue can build up another drama before it leaves because it's not doing any good sitting at 10.
Wednesday
8-My Wife and Kids
830-JOHN STAMOS
9-Bachelor
10-Eyes
Stamos' comedy would fit in with the Bachelor, the 10 spot needs something, I have no clue what but the only thing that would hit bigger ratings would be possibly ONE Millionaire episode/week, either Millionaire or Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
Thursday
8-JESSICA SIMPSON
830-Less than Perfect
9-Extreme Makeover
10-PrimeTime Thu
Comedy at 8 and 8:30 and the rest is the same. I have no clue what this network can do to compete Thursdays, they can't is the real answer but adding some comedy helps.
Friday
8-George Lopez
830-J'LOVE HEWITT
9-Hope and Faith
930-Plan B
10-20/20
AFV should be on instead of 20/20 to fit in with the kids. Other than that, comedy should remain on Fridays. Actually, what ABC should do is try an Unsolved Mysteries type show and/or a Rescue 911 if TGIF fails again this upcoming year.
Saturday
8-EM: Home Edition
9-Movie
Really not much you can do here, maybe show some classic comedy from the 70's and 80's but the movie does ok for ABC. Maybe a Super Bloopers special once in a while wouldn't hurt.
___________________________________________
NBC
Sunday
7-Dateline
8-American Dreams
9-C.I.
10-Crossing Jordan
OK lineup, American Dreams should be off though--period.
Monday
8-fear Factor
9-Las Vegas
10-Average Joe
I guess if it works, keep it. Although Las Vegas could perform much better on a night like Wednesday sandwiched in-between West Wing and Law and Order
Tuesday
8-Everyday Life
830-The Office
9-Father of the Pride
930-Scrubs
10-SVU
Oy. That's all I can say. NBC did it to themselves though. No comedy series that can replace frasier. Happy family was pretty funny but ratings were horrendous. Maybe the peacock should drop the laughs for some drama. Why they didn't spin-off either Martin, Roz or Niles and Daphne is baffling. And a very funny show that was unceremoniously canceled last year...Just Shoot Me. The network should be kicking themselves right now on losing the veteran show.
Wednesday
8-HUB
9-West Wing
10-Law and Order
Like I said, I'd prefer to see WW at 8 followed by Las Vegas at 9 with HUB on Mondays at 9.
Thursday
9-Joey
830-Will and Grace
9-Apprentice
10-ER
Why change what's working? Joey I feel will not get the ratings Friends did though. Apprentice/Contender(midseason) should help out the net and ER adding Shane West next year will add another fresh, familiar face.
Friday
8-Dateline
9-Dateline
10-Third Watch
Midseason at 9, law and Order, Trial By Jury.
The network seems pretty stable on Fridays, too much dateline though in my opinion.
Saturday
8-C.I.
9-L&O
10-SVU
What do we have to choose from...Law and Order repeats or a movie..Remember the days of the Golden Girls? What NBC should try to do is put some veterans on comedy duty on this night but that's a risk and NBC usually never takes risks. Sadly, these repeats will do ok for the network, not as well as they should be doing and have done in the past though. NBC should try and revive some older dramas like they did with Hunter, except maybe help the show out instead of letting it fall flat on its face surrounded by Law and Order repeats. Matlock, LA Law seems like shows they can revive.

CBS
Sunday
7-60 Minutes
8-Cold Case
9-Movie
Why change what's working?
Monday
8-Still Standing
830-RICKI LAKE/KIRSTIE ALLEY
9-Everybody Loves Raymond
930-Two and a Half Men
10-CSI Miami
Prepping Two and a Half Men is smart but if they're planning on spinning someone off, that should def take the 9:30 midseason slot. So the more logical choice might be a new comedy at 9:30 so the likely Patricia Heaton spin-off can slide into the 9:30 slot without taking away from Two and a Half Men.
Tuesday
8-NCIS
9-CSI NY
10-Judging Amy
Tuesday is a winner--nothing more to say.
Wednesday
8-Yes Dear
830-Shut up and Listen
9-King Of Queens
930-Center of the Universe
10-Dr. Vegas
The more I think about it, Yes Dear would be best at 8(originally I thought the combination of KoQ and Yes Dear at 9 and 930 respectively would fare better but this would be the logical choice, hopefully squeezing out 2 hits. Center of the Universe looks like a winner with the two big men(James, Goodman) ruling 9pm and hopefully giving the West Wing a run for their money. As for Dr. Vegas, if I ran CBS, I'd try JAG here to compete with Law and Order due to its large fanbase. It definitely could easily take a chunk out of Law and Order, especially with the West Wing losing viewers and Law and Order losing Jerry Orbach next season.
Thursday
8-Survivor
9-CSI
10-Without a Trace
Silly to change it. Although I still think ER will remain the victor at 10.
Friday
8-Joan of Arcadia
9-Clubhouse
10-JAG
Clubhouse becomes the cream in-between the Oreo cookie and helps CBS keep Friday nights #1.
Saturday
8-48 Hours or 60 Minutes 2
9-Guardian
10-The District
The Guardian should help but my opinion is CBS has way too many newsmagazines and with Jeffrey F a g e r taking over for 60 Minutes, maybe they should assist both 60 Minutes and 48 Hours and instead of having three, help make 2 newsmagazines the best in the business and combine reporters and correspondents to the original 60 Minutes and Lesley Stahl's 48 Hours Investigates.
Well that's my 2 cents. We'll see what occurs in May, probably the complete opposite of what I've listed.:)
