VH1 DIVAS
"VH1 Divas" at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Sunday:
You might assume that seven years into its "Divas" concert series, VH1 would been forced to start scraping to find suitable performers.
That`s hardly the case this year, with a quality assemblage of artists on tap for Las Vegas` third installment of the made-for-TV event.
Scheduled to perform: Patti LaBelle, Vegas resident Gladys Knight, Debbie Harry, Cyndi Lauper, Sheila E., Ashanti, Jessica Simpson, Eve, Joss Stone and Tom Jones.
Highlights from the two-year concert will air on VH1 (Cox channel 39) Sunday night at 9 p.m. and again at 11 p.m.

Patti LaBelle is the only real DIVA that I see.

I know! I am so sick of her. She can't even really sing. Anyone could sing her songs. She's no DIVA.

Yeah I've been wondering why Joss Stone and Jessica Simpson are going to be at this concert with Debbie Harry, Cyndi Lauper, and Patti LaBelle....They haven't reached full diva-ness yet.

you're so obviously NOT an 80's child if you don't think Deborah Harry and Cyndi Lauper have no place on this show. I love both. A hell of a lot more than most of the "divas" VH1 foists on us

SHE'S SO UNUSUAL is one of the best albums of the 1980's. I <3 Cyndi Lauper

Every Diva show has sucked since 2000. The 2000 lineup, in my opinion, was the best. I dont think VH1 will ever be able to achieve that same greatness ever again.
Btw, MonarC...I like your avatar.:)

2002 and 2003 had their moments. 2002 had Cher and Celine, 2003 had Celine and Jewel (will Celine do Divas every year she has a new album out around the spring?)
2001 was the lowest point, Aretha may be a great singer, but I'm not a fan, and the "artists" (Kid Rock?!!?!?!??!) they had paying tribute to her was not something to be proud of.
I think 1999 and 2000 were tied as the best. 99 for Cher, Tina, Elton and Whitney (right before she got too out of control) and 2000 for Diana and Donna

They should have a 2000 reunion show and have another one worth watching. :talk:
