This show has an awful lot of sex jokes in it for something that has small kids in the cast. Anyone who knows the Wayans family knows they do teenage boy type humor and overdose on the sex jokes. To me this show is that masquerading as a family sitcom. In their other shows you kind of know what you're getting into before you tune in: Living Color, Wayans Brothers etc are all outrageous do anything for a laugh kind of shows. But here you see the cute little kids and think its innocent. Not at all. If I had grade school age kids I wouldn't let them watch this.
Plus the father is so soft acting he reminds of a limp fish that's just been hooked and is being reeled in. I keep waiting to see him start dressing completely in drag in a pink fuzzy lounge outfit, false eyelashes and pumps. Dennis Rodman was more masculine acting than Damon Wayans is in this program. And the strange thing is I don't get the feeling that he is gay in real life, he just feels that to be funny he has to act in a weird manner to draw attention to himself.
I read in an interview that the Wayans will do anything to get a laugh and this kind of desperation shows up in this show.

You're probaby right!! Considering they don't make anything but movie spoofs. Shawn and Marlon are coming out with a movie with them dressing up as White Chicks!! A send up of Paris Hilton! You're right they are desperate for a laugh!!

These guys have no shame. But they're raking in money so they're considered heroes.
I don't know if you saw Bamboozled by Spike Lee. Damon was in that and he was uncomfortable with the film. i can see why. It hits him very close to home.

Bamboozled was a excellent movie. That movie & The Last Boy Scout are the only serious movies i've seen Damon in. I think a lot of times Keenan, Damon, Shawn takes the gay thing too far. I would never play a gay character in a movie. I don't care how much money i would be offered to play that role. I just wouldn't do it. They're desperate for a laugh. After watching last night's 2 episodes of My Wife & Kids, this show is getting cornier. There is nothin cool about being dumb & this show makes it seem ok for Junior to be dumb. Also Claire had Katie's corny boyfriend do her homework last night & he was giving her the answers through some headphones while she was speaking at a conference for her science project.

Bamboozled really ridicules blacks who play embarassing stereotypical parts in movies and on tv. Casting Damon in that part makes it all the more ironic because he has become a walking stereotype. Actually he tried to do a show about 6 or 7 years back called 413 Hope Street on Fox. It was a melodrama with Richard Roundtree and was set at a social services agency. This was when Fox was on its last gasp of having black shows. They dumped it in midyear. Damon wasn't a performer in it, he was the producer. I don't remember if it was a quality show or not, but I guess the experience of getting axed repeatedly made him figure that he had to stoop low to have a hit show.
Bamboozled is an outstanding film. It reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Network from 1976 with Peter Finch as the newcaster who has a nervous breakdown and says he plans to kill himself on national TV. The news show that he was on was low rated until he says this and then the ratings go up as people begin to tune in to see him commit suicide. The people at the network let him go on tv and complain about how bad things are in society and it becomes a hit. The end of the film is really ironic. It shows that people will watch anything on TV and that the network people will put anything on TV to get ratings. I honestly believe that the networks would put nothing but commercials on TV 24//7 if they thought people would watch and go out and buy the products and put $$$ in the network's hands.
As for the gay depictions, I think they're pushing it because their running out of ideas and because I think the people in Hollywood are very removed from mainstream culture. They make assumption about what the think people want to see.

Bamboozled is one of my favorite movies. That movie spoke the truth and I think that's why many people had problems with it. I'm a huge fan of Spike Lee movies because, IMO, they always make you THINK.
Last night's MWAK's were not that funny. I may have laughed at a few things and that was probably it. I think they are really running out of things. Junior being dumb was okay, laughable but now Claire being dumb is not funny. I'm still going to continue to watch this show because there is nothing else interesting on at 7pm (lol).

My Wife & Kids comes on in Texas at 7pm? It comes on 8pm in Cleveland. Spike Lee's movies do always have a message to them but his endings be stupid sometimes. Remember the ending of School Daze movie when Larry Fishburne & Giancarlo Esposito were screaming wake up? Remember the ending of Jungle Fever when that prostitute asked Wesley Snipes if he wanted a blowjob & he grabbed her by the head & screamed no? LOL.

I saw some of Crooklyn & i couldn't get into it. It was boring to me. What did Alfre Woodard die of in Crooklyn? I like Delroy Lindo as a actor who was in Crooklyn. He was good in Romeo Must Die, Malcolm X, Gone In 60 Seconds, The Heist, Clockers.

At the end of School Daze when he was yelling wake up, I think he meant that black people should stop fighting each other and start coming together cause fighting each other just brings us down and pleases the "white man."
At the end of Jungle Fever, that prostitute was supposed to represent his daughter. The prostitute was forshadowing what was going to happen to Wesley's daughter. I guess since Wesley cheated on his wife and they ended up splitting, his daughter didn't have the happy home and stability so she turned to the streets.

I seriously doubt Wesley's daughter would've turned into a prostitute.
